agreed...wireless is def not as stable, fast or secure as a wired connection...but its soooo much more convenient IF u own a laptop. period.
i mean , the whole purpose of having a laptop is to be mobile isnt it?
i think buying a wireless router is better because u have the option of going both wireless/wired...leave your laptops wireless and the dekstops wired...
in terms of speed, i guess it all depends on what u'r using your internet connection for...just for regular browsing purposes, the avg user will not be able to tell the diff between a wired and a wireless connection (if u have cable i.e.)...and u always have the option of "plugging in" your computer when trying to download/upload large amount of data...
stability - yeah - the wireless "can" def be a bitch - but once set up - u'll hardly have any problems...
i'd say first try setting it up - if its too much of a pain in the ass (constant IP conflict errors etc) - just go wired - but atleast try it out...
security - well...again - it really depends on what u'r using ur conncection for...if u really want ur internet to be secure - there's lots of ways of doing this even using wireless...(not using a windows OS could be a start...)...if u cant secure the wireless connection urself - have a techy friend help out - its not that hard...
so if u own a laptop - atleast give the wirelss a shot - if everything works out fine - i doubt u'll ever go back to the prehistoric days of wired networks...
