Re: The Infamous SMOKE & MIRRORS Party

LYME.fm Welcomes JUSTIN HARRIS (Freaks, Classic) & JASON HODGES to Winter Music Conference...

JUSTIN HARRIS (UK)

Justin has been DJing since 1987. He started producing records in 1994 and three years ago, teamed up with Luke Solomon to create the Freaks project. Twenty-eight EP's and over thirty remixes later, the Freaks are steadily gaining respect and rave reviews from the global house music scene. On their own 'Music For Freaks' label they have released ten EPs along with their first album 'The Beat Diaries; all of which received high critical acclaim and are continuing to sell worldwide. Harris and Solomon will also release a label compilation entitled 'Some Freaky Stuff' followed by their second album early next year.

During his musical career Justin has also recorded with Luke Solomon under various guises such as Robotic Movement, Freesoul (with Diesel) and Oliloqui to name but a few. Their tracks were for such seminal house labels as Classic, Phono, 20/20 Vision, Large, Seasons and SSR. Justin has also recorded his own solo projects as himself or Philippe Maurice for Classic Sensory Productions, Monkey Fruit and Refried amongst others.
Justin regularly DJ's at Space (Luke and Kenny Hawke's legendary Wednesday nighter at Bar Rhumba in London), various dates all over Europe including some exclusives nights in Paris (The Rex, Bateau Fas) and Oslo's Club Skanssen. Justin currently has residency at LYME.fm's GET PAID night at London's AKA bar.

JASON HODGES (Canada)

Canadian born Jason Hurtubise, first arrived in the house music scene in late 1991, taking on Toronto’s underground party scene he developed his DJing skills on the decks with the likes of New York - New Jersey sounds. Todd Terry, Kenny Dope + Lil Louie Vega (Maw) Zack Tomz, and Todd Edwards are a few of Hodges¹ favourite producers.

Drawn to the sounds of drum machines, Hodges began renting gear from local music stores until finally deciding on a E-MU SP 1200, a piece commonly used by Hip Hop producers since it’s arrival in 1987.

Hard-hitting beats with deep grooves became the signature sound for Hodges * whether in the studio, on the dance floors; from local Toronto gigs, to the surrounding towns around Ontario and across Canada, Hodges was growing and coming into his own.

Jason began releasing records with various Toronto labels getting his feet wet remixing and co-producing tracks with some of Canada’s talents. After many years of training and development, Hodges returned to the scene with a new energy and a new plan.

As a rising house DJ and producer, Hodges has teamed up with Big Chief DJ Sneak on co-production and remix work for several notable and established artists. Hodges & Sneak (AKA "The Jizznackaz") have collaborated on a number of Sneak’s projects and records for Magnetic Recordings, as well as Sneak’s new imprint label Oomph Recordings

Jason is currently building his profile; remixing artists like Freaks on MMF, Kaskade on OM, Sneak’s "Fix my Sink" on Magnetic, Cozy Creatures Oomph, among many others in the horizon. 2003 opened the floodgates for world travel and new music projects, promising a steady and bright future for Canada’s best-kept secret.

The name Jason Hodges represents the technical craft he pours into every production, with highly anticipated tracks being played and praised by the likes of Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Derrick Carter, DJ Raoul and Sneak, among other eminent House Music Pioneers around the world.

Sneak on Hodges: "My very first trip to Toronto in 1994, I had the pleasure of meeting Toronto’s upcoming producers. I can remember perfectly a comment I made about Jason, I said, "He's the Kenny Dope of Toronto". He has productively advanced into a solid house music trooper".
