| ..the night the lights went out on broadway...
...those are the only words i can think of for today's events...i got pretty lucky today - our office only browned out a few times but never went out for good. My home was alright as well....but my thoughts turn onto those that werent so lucky...i sincerely hope everyone makes it through the night ok, and in some interesting, new way finds a new perspective, a new experience, or even a new friend... good night and god bless...

Tell me about it... I work for the fuckin company and I had no power in my offices... The only Con Ed facility that was effected and had back up resources were all the power plants for obvious reasons and the emergency service offices... But let me be the first to say that this one was not our ( Con Edisons ) fault ! ! ! I hope everyone is ok. And everyone ( and your families ) got home safely from the City or wherever they may have been yesterday... As of now... Most of our grids are back up with a few still slowly coming up... But all in due time. For the amount of outages and the mess that there was yesterday... Everyone handled everything very well... People helping people... It is times like this that you tend to forget about all the negative shit around you and see the good in people. For now I am going to bed... Got into work 1:00pm yesterday and just walked into my house at 6:00am today. I know smokesum... No one cares... Anyway... As you have heard many times on the radio... We still urge you not to turn on any unnecesary electric... It is all still very vulnerable and they are still in the process of finding out what went wrong and where... If I hear anything before the news releases anything... I will post it when I get up some time in the afternoon. But by then I am sure the news will spill a whole bunch of shit... |

Ughhh, what an experience. Im at my desk, and all of a sudden the lights went out. Computer, power, everything. Now being that i live in long island, which is a long way from 48th and Broadway, all i could do was : SO me and 3 other guys walked it across the 59th Street bridge. Ughhh It was so long. then i made it into woodside, hoping to get to my friends place, but he wasn't home I then proceeded to the woodside train station, and of course no trains were working. So i struck up a convo with this girl waiting to use the phone. We stuck together, and after 3 different buses, 10-15 somewhat miles on foot, and a headache later, im home left work at 5pm. Got home a little before midnight. |

oddly, i remembered how the fvi and homeland security dioshits were saying this wasn't a terrorist attack.... but overseas, people are saying a hacker got into their computer system up in niagara and messed with the system. the day the blackout occured would have been a perfect opportunity for any terrorist groups to make an attempt for something stupid. sadly. luckily, it didn't happen. what makes me think more is how people are so dependent on electricity for everything. how did our ancestors live back in the day? without Ac's, the internet, telly, etc? i wonder what people would do today if all these things were taken away from them. |

...what impressed me about all this was how everyone reacted...strangers helping strangers...no real violence or looting to speak of - except now there's a bit in Detroit...but overall, i have to say i am happy with how people responded...
