i heard this on the radio today... can i just say that if this happened to me, i would take the key and swallow it... my parents would kick my ass if this happened to me. and this kids parents are going to sue?!!!!



"NEWARK (1010 WINS) -- A 10-year-old student was put in a ``holding cell'' by his principal for 40 minutes while classmates paraded around the structure and ridiculed him, a lawyer for the boy alleged Wednesday.
``This conduct is simply outrageous,'' said the fifth-grader's lawyer, Anthony J. Pope. ``We have a 10-year-old now who does not want to go back to school. He was humiliated, called an animal by the principal and traumatized.''
The principal believed the boy had been engaging in horseplay, the lawyer said.
Pope said Wednesday that he will file a notice to sue the Newark Public School District if the boy shows continued signs of trauma from the March 31 incident.
Newark Public Schools Superintendent Marion A. Bolden released a statement Wednesday saying the area at Harriet Tubman School where the boy was confined is used by preschool students for play and for storage of game equipment.
Although the area is enclosed, it leads into an open corridor, Bolden said.
Bolden said the boy was told to stay in an open doorway area under the supervision of a security guard while the principal assembled other students who were playing outside.
At no time was he placed in a locked area or left alone, Bolden said."
