What to do in Chicago?

Hey,

I'll be in Chicago this week coming in from NYC. I don't know too much about the Chicago club scene. What are some good clubs to go to and when? Hope you can help.

PS I mainly like House.

~Hey GFunky21~

You should check out Red No 5 on Saturday night. They usually have the best talent in Chi-Town on Saturdays! Or check out Crobar cos this Saturday night is July Hype Night and people will be dressed in Super Hero Theme, I am not a big fan of Crobar, but I am sure that you will have fun there! Also, Halo is at Dragon Room on Friday night, so if you are into house music you might want to give that a shot. You can also check www.purefuture.com cos there are always posts on there with tons of shit to do.

Have *fun*!!

Since you are from NYC, you might be familiar with Sean Cusick formerly of Twilo, he will be at Transit Saturday night, defenately a good time last time he was there and should be again. Get on the guestlist at transit by sending an email to Kelly@Transit-USA.com

then after transit head over to Crobar, that is the plan for a few of us so far, hopefully we'll see you out.

Well i think one of the best places i have been is Cafe Sureal. If you get across keep your eyes and ears open for somebody who is going because the place (an afterhours loft) is fantastic.

Peeps when you get across we will be sure to get our arses down there. It's a gerat space.

RedNo5 is a must to visit though. I think it's the best venue, and on a good night the crowd know there shit. Try John Aquaviva, he seems to know how to work the crowd.

If you see a pissed up Brit, champagne in hand, quiet literally tearing up the dance floor... that's me.

I initially missed your house preference...

If you're in by friday night, you should go to rednofive for Derrick Carter, especially if you've never seen him before. The man is a living legend for a reason.

As for the crobar recommendations for Sat-Crobar is like SF, and if you don't like SF you probably won't like Crobar either.

Forget AC, there's no ventilation or air movement in there period. I'm convinced that when it gets really crowded down there that the air gets deoxygenated and dead.

Yeah, Yeah, RedNoFive home of Deadair...

While B2B is right in RedNo having the best selection of music in Chicago, being that pure brings in DJ's from around the world on a weekly basis, and has some bimonthly residents to the likes of Sven Vath and John Aquaviva, the venu stinks.

There is one spot in the whole club to stay cool, right under the one trickling air vent that hangs from the ceiling...

While I would have to agree with B2B on the talent that RedNoFive draws in, I would have to strongly disagree on his choice of words in describing RedNo as an awesome venue? The place feels like a large basement with lights and a sound system, and little to no air conditioning. There is really nothing special about the venue itself, although the talent that it draws is worth checking out. The best talent at RedNo comes in on Thursday nights. Saturdays are usually residents like D:Fuse, John Aquaviva, Walsh and Sommer.

Whatever you choose make sure you have a good time...

I totally disagree the venue stinks. Yeh it could do with a little money spent on it. Get rid of most of the tables a shit. And bring the DJ booth up stairs down to eye level.

But apart from that, it's fine. I really arn't in to flashy clubs. Shit when i first started going on (decades ago ) the only places you could listen to dance musics were

a) a field
b) s stinky warehouse with a strobe light.

I LOVE Cafe Sureal as a venue. I thinks it just right. Nice loft, big oprojection TV and the system isn't too bad either. Needs a bar though, but the other 'elements' seem ok. Reminds me of the main room at Twilo.

I want to check this place out B2B, maybe this weekend or next Friday after our house god.

I have to also say that Rednofive brings in the most venue that I have ever heard of it is amazing,... what are you saying bouncy?? I thought you liked Rednofive and their venue??
