weyes goes on vacation! thoughts on bringing laptops to vegas?

weyes' mom is visiting from their hometown of nyc till august 3rd, when weyes heads to vegas to represent her district at her union's annual convention.

now to write in the first person ...

i'll have my laptop w/ me while my mom is here, so i'll keep up w/ the column and the l.a. board, but when i'm in vegas i'm gonna be cautious and leave the laptop at home, i think... do people here travel w/ their laptops a lot, leaving them in hotel rooms? i know a lot of stories of stolen cameras from vegas hotel rooms, so i'm particularly worried about vegas.
