websites with any information whatsoever are not the last word - not necessarily current and accurate. in a recent column i recommended calling hotels and asking what features they have; this column now recommends calling everything.

for instance, a restaurant was recommended to weyes in mid-june that got burned down a few weeks later; she found that out by viewing the rubble on the news.

now that i'm in san diego and looking for someplace to eat, i see that place being recommended on loads of websites. if i had taken the net's word for it, i would've been over at the lot, disappointed and hungry, looking at a pile of ashes .
