It would be great for another
Yankee / Marlin match up! but I have to say you guys
have more pressure and expectations to win it all this year
than the Marlins do..........Best of Luck

    and the season begins

Most of the baseball fans in this world understood that when they signed A-rod, Sheffield, Kevin Brown, Javier Vazquez, amongst others. We lost the most important piece of our puzzle, Pudge. That greedy stupid fuck. Already going to the Hall and wants more money. Detroit was the only organization that would make such a ridiculous move. 10 Million/year? Highly doubtful. Fuck that, I'd rather be Jeter and have two fist full of rings. (Even though he only has four, the team is set up to fill his hands up)

FYI.....I hope your starting picthing stays healthy otherwise you guys will have a tough year. Mark my words guido!

Dude - Pudge had a wonderful post season - but to say he was the most important piece of the puzzle - means you jumped on the bandwagon last year.

I hope you stay w/ the Marlins this year - even if they don't repeat.

you know..that was my biggest issue with the Marlins winning the world series...

there were many fans that followed the Marlins since they became a franchise and to them I was the first to congratulate.

but, i have to laugh because when the Marlins made the world series last year, all of a sudden EVERYONE was a loyal Marlins supporter. in one apartment complex near where i worked..almost all the cars had Marlins #1 painted on it. i remember asking one of the drivers who thier favorite Marlin player was and they couldnt name ONE marlin player. come on........

im gonna say it again: to those who are true marlin fans, you guys had a dream season last year, congratulations.

to the bandwagon jumpers-- you suck.

I can understand why you are saying that I jumped the bandwagon but I beg to disagree. I used to pitch at FSU and I understand the importance of a catcher that can call a game and lead his troops on the field. Pudge has those intanglibles. The Marlins had a young inexperienced pitching staff that flourished under the guidance of Pudge. He is one of the best catchers of all time. He is one of the only catchers, if not the only catcher, that can call a good game without any coach assistance.

I am well aware that there are many pieces of last year's puzzle that made last season special but I do think that the pitching staff will bare the statistical repercussions of losing Pudge to the Tigers. As far as the rest of the team, it will all still be there. We will see if we can score runs. If that is the case then it won't be that big of a deal. Otherwise, I hope that our pitching staff stays up to par. Oh yeah....Armando Benitez could have definately used Pudge this year.

Losing Derek Lee also was big. We'll see if Hee Sop Choi can cut it.

I will always follow the Marlins.

I am just curious, What do you think was the most important piece of the puzzle?

He has always had a bad reputation as NOT being a leader. And - he did step it up in the post season...

Now to the Big piece of the Puzzle - I credit the Marlins owner Jeffery Loria and Marlins President David Samules. All season long they made hard decisions to keep the team in the wildcard hunt. They did not give up. Mid season they put a Manager in place that believed the team should win! Then - they changed the pitching coach. THAT WAS HUGE! Especially for the young staff. Also - Lowell gets hurt - Sign Conine. Need relief - bring in Urbina (sp?)... All the right moves. Also - what about bringing in Harris - the all time pinch hit leader in MLB history...

All I'll give Pudge credit for is a great post season. Good luck in Detroit.

    My reply:

You are dead on my friend. A lot of these things are off the field things. There are things though that a player brings to a team on the field. There are a lot of players that are quiet off the field but have a different disposition on the field. Pudge seems to be one of those players. There were a lot of young players that fed off of the way he played on the field. Granted the Marlins did make a lot of good moves that ended up working in their favor which resulted in the Championship. We will see what this season brings.......

for the record, I want to point out that guyman, knows nothing about baseball. When the marlins were not doing so well last year, I was the one to tell him that the marlins had a good shot at going to the WS.. A few months later I was right...
