New & Notable Releases for 12-18 September 2005

The following titles have been received at American wholesalers over the past week and should be available at your favorite specialist retailer this week.

Shirley Bassey “Diamonds Are Forever 2005” White ENG 12 – DERIG9, hooks of the original vocal worked into a summery disco house interpretation, with a similar styled reworking of Rose Royce “Wishing On A Star” on the flip.

Santana “Southern Guajira 2005” White USA 12 – Marcello Castelli mix, dark chunky house mix with a latin tinge and full vocal worked into the production. SABOOT1.

UNKLE “Reign 2005” White USA 12 – Marcello Castelli mix in a flowing progressive style with a similar-styled rework of Pizzaman “Sunshine 2005” on flip.

Unknown “Heavenly 2005” White ENG 12 – SLBOOTS002, old disco-era sample given a Junior Jack-styled rework for the main room floors.

Stevie Wonder “Signed Sealed Delivered 2005” White ENG 12 – SIGN001, funky house reworking with full oringal vocal worked in. Flipside is similar styled mix of “Go Home.”

House

AC Soul Symphony “What’s Happening” Zedd ENG 12 Promo – Smooth seductive garage house cut with a solid female vocal and well-produced house orchestrations by the label owner himself, Joey Negro. Includes both full vocal and dub versions.

Arvid “The Way It Is” Mudanza GER 12 - Bruce Hornsby’s 80s classic is covered here in this big commercial house production that focuses only on the instrumental part of the original (covered vocals in the radio mix, but not in the club mixes) with the famous piano hooks worked into an energetic house orchestration. Two mixes.

Casears “Jerk It Out” Astralwerks USA 12 – Jason Nevins on the mix for the clubs of this indierock number with its hooky punkish male vocal over Nevins’ chunky tech-tinged orchestrations, reminiscent of his mix for Anastacia’s “Left Outside Alone.” Two mixes with full vocals and a dub.

Chus & Penn “Esperanza” Defected ENG 12 Part 1, Part 2 and CD-Maxi – Smooth seductive summertime instrumental house fare from Defected to round out the season on Ibiza with disc one featuring the laid-back original and a solid mix from Faze Action while disc two features slightly tougher remixes from DJ Spen and Dr Kucho. CD-Maxi has all.

Full Intention “Your Day Is Coming 2005” Essence ENG 12 – New 2005 mixes by One Cool Cuban of this classic garage vocal cut from the veteran house producers. Gorgeous reworking that suits the female vocal nicely, and includes both full vocal and dub versions.

Juliet “Ride The Pain” Virgin USA 12 – Commercial release for this massive Billboard Club chart monster that features Juliet’s indie-ish vocals over energetic house orchestrations. Remixes from Dab Hands in a tribal-meets-tech production that complements the vocal nicely with both a full vocal and dub version, while on the flip Jacques LuCont provides a funkier, chunkier vocal mix.

Lee-Cabrera “I Watch You” Data ENG 12 – Big Ibiza buzz record with a summery hands-in-the-air house orchestration, warm vocals and a chunky rhythm line blended to perfection. Ian Carey provides a remix on the flip in his trademark discofied house sound.

Dave McCullen “Bitch” Full Force FRA 12 – Powerful French tech house monster with energetic rhythms, driving synth lines with a slight acidic touch and a rather crude male vocal worked in for full effect. Two mixes, both solid bigroom material.

Angel Moraes “Music Is Your Life” 69 USA 12 – Latest release from Rauhofer’s imprint is another massive tribal production with a huge female vocal, dark rhythm lines and aggressive synth orchestrations. Includes Moraes’ original mix and a solid remix from 15 South.

Plastic Funk “Round & Round” Sure Player GER 12 Promo – Another solid beachhouse production with light, uplifting female vocals, smooth rhythm lines and energetic disco-tinged synth orchestrations. Remix by Ian Carey in his trademark disco-influenced style.

Ramone f/Nicole Taylor “I Love The Nightlife” Le Bien et Le Mal – a fun summery cover of Alicia Bridges’ disco-era classic, with funky rhythms, chunky retro-influenced house synthwork and a very solid rendering of the famous vocal. Flipside features a darker, techier and dubbier rendition perfect for the floors that like a deeper feel.

Southside Hustlers “Right Before My Eyes” Toolroom ENG 12 – Old house sample getting rehashed here with remixes coming from Bini & Martini, Dave Spoon and Martin ten Velden in styles that range from classic disco-house to chunky tech-tinged dubs.

Tonka “All Over Again” Disco Inc GER 12 – Gorgeous summertime house production with hooky vocals, driving rhythm lines and smooth, seductive disco-tinged synthwork. Three mixes, all perfect for the late season parties that likes the hands-in-the-air classic house sound.

Neils van Gogh “My Own Religion” MRG GER 12 Part 1 – Chunky German techhouse production with a slight trance edge in the synthwork and a vocal that sounds a cross between Depeche Mode and REM. Funky production with a smooth rhythm underline that accentuates the vocal nicely. Two mixes.

Trance & Progressive

Black Gold Massive “Introduce Me To Love” Major Menace USA 12 – Dean Coleman on the mix for this smooth, seductive production that, in its original form, is more in the garage vein, but with Coleman’s mix becomes transformed into a dark, haunting progressive house production with a slight tribal tinge.

Ernesto vs Bastian “Dark Side Of The Moon” Nebula ENG Part 1 and Part 2 – UK edition of one of the larger trance releases this year, disc one features the stunning original vocal mix as well as a new energetic tech house reworking from Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso which takes the track into entirely new areas. Disc 2 features the massive Dogzilla mix and a gorgeous angelic trance reworking from Disco Brothers. CD-Maxi has all.

Kuffdam & Plant “Summerdream” Vandit GER 12 – Gorgeou trance production from Paul van Dyk’s imprint with a light vocal sample worked into waves of uplifting melodic synth. Includes a mix from Paul himself that gives the production a slight tech tinge that only Van Dyk can produce.

Nomad “I Wanna Give You Devotion 2005” Rumour ENG 12 Promo – Energetic hard dance reworkings of this mid-90s rave standard, with the famous female vocal worked into powerful productions of hard-charging rhythm lines and aggressive synth orchestrations. Three mixes.

Adam Sheridan “Another Tomorrow” Tatsumaki BNX 12 – Simply stunning vocal trance production here with a haunting female vocal worked into a flurry of intricate melodies and sold rhythm lines. Includes both full vocal and instrumental versions as well as a second mix by Sheridan that is darker and techier in feel.

Various “La Rocca Marko” 541 BNX 12 LP Part 1 and Part 2 – collection of tracks from an upcoming mic compilation on 541 that range from the dark, spiritual progressive to more aggressive techier progressive hybrid tracks. Six cuts spread across two discs, among the standouts are a new reworking of the mid-90s classic “Mismoplastico” by Virtualismo in disc 1 while disc 2 fetures productions from Jerry Bonham and Marc O’Tool.
