About the Venue:

More than a bar or lounge, “The Porch” is an oasis for the mind, body and spirit. One step inside and you will be transported to a magical world that simultaneously elicits nostalgic memories of swinging on your grandmother’s porch swing while sipping a cool glass of lemonade as a child and of traveling to a distant, mysterious and romantic land. The outdoor garden, the candle-lit terrace, the soothing rhythmic porch swing, the cast iron chandelier, the crackling fireplace, the gastronomical delights from the kitchen and the euphonious beats emanating from the DJ booth pleases the visual, tactile, gustatory and auditory senses and gives “The Porch” a transcendent ambiance of relaxed positive energy that is almost impossible to find in New York City.

About the DJ's:

K1W1

NYC-based producer and dance music DJ, K1W1 (aka Grant Riddell), is not a personality to label. He is a hybrid sounding dj/producer that has developed his style via the underground dance scene and its breakout artists. "My vibe is impossible to describe but it's a spiritual and mental connection to music I've experimented with during my past 10 years. It's formed of: funky chunky grooves, incorporating the deeper elements of tribal, techno, and tech progressive arrangements, with a dash of dirty electro and minimal house." This being said, K1W1 also knows the key to connecting to the crowd and finding the sound that moves the masses. "From underground groove to commercial remixes, if they feel it, I'm on it," confesses K1W1. From week to week K1W1 hits the clubs and has quickly become a highly respected underground DJ recognized for his NYC gigs with Danny Tenaglia, Cevin Fisher, Behrouz, Tedd Patterson, Rui Da Silva, and many other world renowned DJs and Producers. He's ripping sets at such events as NYC's largest Afterhours W/ Rob Promotions, LOST (Decks in the City NYC), Ruby Skye (SF), End Up (SF), WMC (Miami), Trust (Baltimore), Sullivan Room (NYC), Be Yourself at Vinyl/Arc (RIP, NYC), Exit (Gods Kitchen NYC), and many more.

Over the course of his career, K1W1 has traveled the world over working with and alongside the industry's top events, DJ's and Music labels, including Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed, Sneak, Riche Hawtin, Satellite Records, Velvet Productions & Atomic (Canada), Eukatech and United Underground (London), WorldDJ.com, SoBe and TopDJGear just to name a few. In 2004, Tenaglia named K1W1 "talented future DJ legend and friend" and in DJ Magazine's interview of Danny Tenaglia one of the NYC local stars to play at NV. Gaining notoriety throughout the underground and Be Yourself events quickly led K1W1 to being nominated for Be Yourself All Stars by DTourism and he quickly became a NYC favorite.
In the studio, K1W1 has been equally passionate. In 2001 he completed a track in a coffee shop in Dunedin, New Zealand which was later mistakenly found in the booth by Danny Tenaglia and became a underground favorite which he played at Vinyl, Arc, Crobar and Winter Music Conference. Other productions have been played by Behrouz, Hector Romero, Astro & Glyde, and many other DJs.

With DJ events from New York to Canada to London and New Zealand, the future looks to be an even more intense adventure for K1W1. For more information, visit www.djk1w1.com or www.myspace.com/djk1w1

WAVEWHORE

With releases on high profile record labels such as Broke, BreaksFM, Electrofly and BombTraxx, New York City based Wavewhore is quickly building a reputation as one to watch in the global breakbeat community. His skills behind the decks have also led to headlining appearances across the US and in Europe and he has appeared on BBC Radio 1 London, KISS FM London, WKTU 103.5 FM New York and Sirius Satellite Radio. In addition, Wavewhore is a resident at the Sullivan Room, one of New York City’s premier underground venues, and he regularly hosts ‘The Audio Tactics Sessions’ on the Breakspoll award-winning BreaksFM internet station (www.breaksfm.com).

Wavewhore has been called a “breakbeat master” by Liquid Todd (Sirius Satellite Radio) and “one of the USA’s finest breakbeat DJ/producers” by Jay Cunning (KISS FM London) while www.breakbeatonline.com described him as “NYC’s finest export since the Beastie Boys”. He began his career as a heavy metal guitarist performing in clubs while he was still in high school and his first electronic release dates back to 1992. His cutting edge music has received high level support from many of the top names in the business including Aquasky, General Midi, DJ Icey, The Autobots, The Freestylers, Elite Force, Drumattic Twins and many more. As a musician, he stands apart in his ability to produce a wide variety of styles within the breaks genre with quality results. His diversity in production also carries into his DJ sets which blend many styles of breaks from funk to bassline to tech into powerful and effective mixes that whip the dance floor into a frenzy. Wavewhore also produces contemporary dub and has performed frequently at DJ Chicus' "Dubtempo" events thrown by New York City reggae label Redbud Recordings.

Wavewhore’s name is derived from his addiction to manipulating audio waveforms and from all appearances he promises to be an inspiring force in electronic dance music. Forthcoming releases include a new single titled “More Life” on Hardcore Beats with a remix from UK-based Screwface. He has performed worldwide as a solo improviser in Paris, Osaka, Beijing and Toronto and in various collaborations with musicians, video artists and dancers in new york city since 1996. A producer of the reggae fusion project 'i dub new york' and member of the free music ensemble 'earth people'. HI-FI

Hailing from Brooklyn, HI-FI has involved himself in the New York City breaks scene since 2001. Residing briefly in South Florida his involvement in electronic music blossomed after being introduced to the hard electro scene that was dominating the dance floors at that time. Gradually, he made the leap from fan to breaks promoter and hosted events in the Ft. Lauderdale area in the late 90's. Once stationed in New York City, his focus shifted behind the turntables and his style of electro-funk and bass-line breaks sets has been tearing up the dance floors ever since.
