Sat 8/30: Dj Fame & Corey Baker - NOSI Release Party @ Hope Lounge (BK)

Dubsided / Potty Mouth label member, DJ Fame brings his wobble-tech-bounce to Hope Lounge Saturday August 30th. Fame is joined on the decks by long time friend Corey Baker in from the UK for his first NYC set in over a year. The party goes down in celebration of Baker’s new release on NOSI Music, ‘Pretty Girlz,’ that Fame drops a fidget crunk remix on. Support sets come via Brooklyn’s Monica Sharp of Stabwounds! and Carmine P. Filthy from the Even Further parties. Expect aural beats spanning Tech-House, Electro and simply bangin.

No Cover. 9PM-4AM. 10 Hope St. @ Roebling, Brooklyn.

DJ Fame

From guest sets in every corner of America, the Dominican Republic, Europe (Belgium, London, Italy, Amsterdam), Mexico and Russia, to his 5 year residency at New York’s premier underground venue, Sullivan Room, DJ Fame (Amos Damon) has continued to bring the more jackin’ sounds of tech house and electro to crowds of thousands across the world for close to 13 years. His energetic performances showcase serious technical ability combined with intense cuts, crazy loops, and other turntablist-like tricks to bring a new style and sound to the dance floor. This illuminating stage presence and a rightfully-earned air of confidence sets him apart from so many peers and makes him truly one of the hottest young talents on the dance scene.

With a true passion for making masses wiggle and bounce, Fame’s natural progression to the studio has already began to gain worldwide notice. His first solo vinyl EP was released on one of the most respected UK labels in the industry, Switch’s DUBSIDED (making him the only American producer on the label). The title track of the EP “Name It X” has been supported and played by Richie Hawtin, Danny Howells, Ricardo Villalobos, Switch, Jesse Rose, Jimpster, and many more.

Over the past year alone, Fame has also signed and/or released originals and remixes on Potty Mouth Music, Loungin’ Records, NOSI music (featured on Steve Porter’s Essential Mix in 2007), Seven Limited, and Dusk. In 2006 he released a mixed compilation for Sullivan Room showing exactly what the sound if his residency there consisted of. Most artists on the cd were guests at his monthly event “The Review”.

In early 2006, Fame began working closely with Gaby Dershin (1/2 of Bedrock artist Astro&Glyde) on a project called “Bit Crushers”. In 2007, the production duo began releasing a slew of tunes which have already gained them respect worldwide with releases on such labels as Sander Kleinenberg's own Little Mountain Records, Seven Limited, We Are Here, Omnis, and more. They have also held down multiple slots on the Balance Record Pool Chart, including one for “Love Takes So Long” (licensed by NOKIA for use on over 3,000,000 cell phons). Their newest projects, have been getting support from top jocks such as Dubfire (DeepDish), John Digweed, The Scumfrog, Steven Lee (Lee Cabrera), Boris and many others.

Between his hectic touring schedule and an arsenal of new productions ready for release in the coming year, Fame just may give new meaning to his namesake!

Corey Baker

For over a decade now Corey Baker's style and flavor of music has done well for him wherever he has traveled. At times Corey has been known to be some sort of a gypsy moving from place to place.

The journey started out in Corey’s home state of Washington. Catching the electronic music bug, Corey began his DJ career in Seattle. Playing small gigs and opening up for local DJs, he got bored of the rain and set sail for a more tropical setting. Corey Landed in Maui, Hawaii and began Playing with local DJs and alongside big acts. After making waves in Maui, he decided to move again. Same state different island, the big city of Honolulu was the next stop where Corey established residencies at the Wave and the Maze – two of Honolulu’s hottest venues at the time. During this period, Corey began traveling to San Francisco to play guest spots at clubs like Ruby Skye, The Endup, The Top and Kelly’s Mission Rock. During this time he also started spending hours in the studio with friend and producer B. McCarthy and LP endorsed percussionist Mark D’Antonio. Yearning for more opportunity, a year later Corey moved to Atlanta where he worked at Satellite records as a buyer specializing in electronic music.

Another year passed and he felt NYC was calling him so he packed his bags and moved to Manhattan where he soon joined forces with Unknown People. A growing and successful crew of DJs and promoters. His residencies Included Bed, Movida, and the popular after party at Cotton. As well as guest spots at every major club in the city. Corey also met up with Amos Damon (DJ Fame), A talented producer/DJ and resident at NYC’s Sullivan room. Fame and Corey started working closely together in the studio on original tracks of their own. During this time he also found love and tied the knot. Feeling more mature and grown up Corey and his lovely bride decided to move yes once again. This time across the pond to London. Corey lives in London now and is working on original tracks of his own and is on the verge of storming the London underground scene. With his unique blend of wonky electro funk filled tech house Corey has big plans for the future. With tracks already being released and lots of time spent in the studio conquering Europe is his biggest goal right now.
