If you have never seen him, it's definetly worth going at least once. He rips it. Dark, Hard House. But he does talk alot. Vinyl/ARC is a great scene too, considering what else there is to offer. Closest thing to Buzz (RIP) in NYC. No dress code, no bs, but no booze either. $25

Bar Rhumba off of Picadilly Circus on Shaftsbury Ave. Gilles Peterson spins there on Tuesdays, I think. And when in doubt pick up a Time Out London from a newsstand.

Ended up there. You hit the nail on the head. I was waiting for Scott Henry to drop "Dancing Queen."

We arrived at Homelands around 2:00pm and got through the line and security checks at about 3:00pm. The dogs kind of bugged us out a little bit, but I guess they were looking for larger amounts because we walked right by. Got inside and checked the place out. 11 different areas of music and every one of them could be considered a serious club with lights and effects. The sound was a little hurting in a few of the tents. They had rides and several stands selling all kinds of paraphenalia, clothes, food, etc. First we went to check out Saeed and Palash, gotta represent DC. They spun a tight set, but it was a little early, so no one was in their tent. Next checked out Judge Jules at the Radio Outdoor Arena. He was dropping bombs and the crowd was going crazy, but trance isn't my bag, so we rolled out. Saw a British guy in a Lakers jersey asked him if you knew who won the game, he didn't know, but it turns out his mom lives in Silver Spring. Small world. Ended up in the Gilles Peterson Worldwide Arena. Checked out the Anti-Pop Consortium, 4 turntablists from the US. They are opening for DJ Shadow on his tour (7/13 Nation). Then Gilles spun and he is nasty. Saw him spin 3 times throughout the day and then once in London. Highly recommended checking him out, cross between Sam Burns and Kruder and Dorfmeister. It now begins to get a little hazy, so the order of events may be wrong. Then headed for some D-n-B and saw DJ Patife from Sao Paulo, Brazil. One of the sickest D-n-B sets I've seen in a while. Then stayed for LTJ Bukem, MC Conrad and DJ Marky. All spun tight sets and I love, Bukem, but sound problems caused several problems. Somewhere in here, I saw Carl Cox at the outdoor stage, sounded alot Judge Jules with a harder techier sound. Him and Jules were both really playing to the crowd and dropping bombs to get a good response. Next moved to Kruder and Dorfmeister, which was the highlight of the festival for me. A four-hour set and the first time I've seen them. They were all over the map mixing downbeat, experimental, house, techno and hip hop with singers and an MC. Fantastic! Also saw, Zero 7 and Basement Jaxx in there somewhere. BJ was sick and Zero 7 was a little too chill for a festival like that. Finished the night in the Strongbow Lounge playing free Playstation 2 and then the Bacardi BBar listening to some deep jazzy house. We rolled out around 5:30am. Observations: they love beer and can't dance for shit over there. We got compliments on our dancing several times. Even went to Fabric in London and the dancing was sub-par. Spectacular Time.

I was also at Homelands and took a few pictures, but just with a disposable camera and many didn't turn out too well. I'll see if I can scan some of the others in. Did anyone post a full-review? I will if anyone is interested.

I am visiting London next week and was wondering what the door policy, dress codes were for most major clubs in the city (MoS, Fabric, Turnmills, etc.)? What's the deal with a membership for people visiting from out of the country? Any other suggestions for a club to check out?
