    JP review

Sound Factory is a record store in Boston, and they host a message board. I'd say it's the most active board in Boston; http://www.soundfactoryboston.com You can also try http://www.411nightlifeonline.com and http://www.avalonboston.com there are a lot of Boston people on Sick Tracks too. Erin

Since we try not to discuss Avalon over on SF, I though that I'd post it over here... This one one of the top times I have heard JP in Boston. He was already on when we walked in at 11:00. We were in the VIP booth next to him and he was in a great mood all night. 'Tyranntic' - Breeder was a nice suprise. Hearing "Like a Prayer" for the first time made the entire night worthwhile for me. 'Sunshine' was also another highlight, since I always seem to miss it when i am actually at SF. Erin

On Saturdays, for girls - pretty much anything goes. Guys, the usual 'proper dress' nice shirt, no cargos, and they have a very strict NO BOOTS in the building policy. Fridays is more relaxed, just no sneakers, hats or athletic wear. Just make sure you go around back to the Tilt entrance, because you can't get in from anywhere else in the palace. Erin

hey marrisa - you'll definetly get a lot more out of the SF board than this one. No one ever shuts up over there anyway, Kara ('sparkem00' over here), FunJen & I (Erin over at SF) will all be at Avalon for JP on Friday. They are 2 pretty big Factory-heads too, they are down there at least once a month or so. They are going through 'in your eyes' withdrawals - lol! Erin

I'm sorry if that came off snappy!!! I just want people to know that there is world of difference between the old Palace and the new Tilt. Trust me, I am a club snob...I won't even step foot in the Roxy. I know how cheesey the Palace used to be - and I thought Manny & Phil would have a hard time overcoming that and changing peoples minds....but they did it in only 2 weeks! Tilt has it's own entrance, it's 21+ now, strict dress code on Sat, it has been completely renovated, the sound is unbeleiveable, and Manny is the DJ - how can you beat that!? I have to admit, the first week, there was still some leftover northshore trash. But by last week it was gone, and it's all the old Avalon crew. Yay Tilt! Erin
  6. Maro spun from 10:00-11:30, then Manolo took over until Acosta took over.

First off, Tilt is NOT cheesey - Tilt is by far my favorite club now. It is not even reminicent of the old Palace. The entire Avalon Saturdays crowd has followed Manolo over to his new home. I have been an Avalon regular from 1996-2001, and the vibe and look of the new Tilt blows Avalon out of the water. no joke. Manolo spins much more intesnse sets then you ever heard out of him at Avalon....he has free range at Tilt. The management is great, the place is done over completely and looks unbelieveable. And the sound will shake you to your core! Last week they had Jana performing 'Stairway to Heaven', a trapeeze artist over everyone's heads, flame-throwers, explosions.....it's unreal. Second, if you want to read an active Boston board, check out http://www.soundfactoryboston.com Introduce yourself in the Meeting Room section. Maw, I work full time AND I am an MBA student at Suffolk University so I know exactly what you mean...i don't want to get any older Erin
  8. Well, I was 12 years old the first time I went to a club, Club 777 in Manchester NH. That was in 1988 and freestyle was big, stuff like Shannon, L'Trimm, JJ Fadd, Cover Girls, Expose, Beat Box, etc. My friend's older brothers used to take us there almost every weekend & to Razcals in Nashua, Speakeasy, and when I was 14 they started taking us to Faces in Cambridge. I was always sober. In college I started going to raves, first one in 1993 I think - and tried acid a few times. The music was pretty intense techno, remember stylyphones & stuff? The Movement, Kraftwerk, Red Man, etc. That is when my music obsession really began. After college is when I started going to Avalon every weekend, in 1996. Matty O was resident back then, dropping stuff like Prodigy, Faithless, Funk Green Dogs, Josh Wink, etc. Yes, that is also when I started rolling. I used to have to write away to dj's from this board to get tapes - they didn't sell the music anywhere accessible around here. Anyway, that is how it all began ps - please note that i registered on this board in 1997/1998 and there was NO ONE from boston on it, so I named myself after my second home at the time
  9. Visions - Avalon is better than ever on Saturdays. Manolo spins about every other week, and they have been pulling in some amazing talent. Seb Fontaine was phenominal a few weeks ago, Digweed this past Saturday, Taucher next week, Carl Cox in March. I prefer not to go on Fridays...I hate 19+ nights anywhere. I made the mistake of breaking my rule and checking out JP this past friday and it was miserable. Never again. Manolo is amazing. You should go to his store's website http://www.soundfactoryboston.com and listen to one of his sets on Sound Factory radio. He is also the reason that Paradise is coming back to life on Fridays. I noticed in a another post that you know Arthur & Apo - I know them too. Arthur went to World & SF with a group of my friends Saturday for JP's Bday. I wished him a happy b-day on friday and skipped the trip myself. btw - when I signed up on this board in 1998 I was about the ONLY person from boston on it - hence...Avalon! Well, that - and I am the princess of Avalon. Av
  10. How can you NOT watch this show? It's like a trainwreck...horrifying, but you just can't turn away. It's even more disturbing if you are IN a long term relationship yourself. My boyfriend and I spent the whole first episode on the phone with each other. Cripes. he got mad when I told him that I knew which guy he would ban me from seeing - lol! To be honest, none of the single guys put on that island would be tempting to me at all. Gotta do better than that if you want ME to stray and then let him watch it on TAPE. Is it just me, or none of these people all that attractive? Are these people crazy? I would NEVER watch my boyfriend on a date with someone else - that image will never ever be erased from you mind. You'd be 80 years old and reach over and smack him in the head and say "that's for kissing that island ho!" And how about these singles who have put themselves on this island to prostitute themselves. is this even legal? Next week 2 get kicked off the show because they LIED about having a child together to get on the show. real nice. Av
