  4. Well quite the opposite of what...you didn't clearly read what I stated. I said the big label will survive but are in horrendous times. But the big lables have the means to market and get the tracks out in other ways. The smaller labels that have less of an overhead still HAVE to sell the 1000 pressings that they make in order to make a profit. If people aren't buying records, record shops arent going to carry them and therefore that hurts sales across the board. As for making money...if you're investing money in equipment and then investing endless hours on writing a quality track, that person sure as hell is going to want to make some kind of money off of it. Yes there's the love and yes there's the people that do it for the $$$. That's not going to change except for the people that do it for the love and then can't get a track signed aren't going to bother anymore.
  5. Bro, I'm sorry to hear that, though not surprised It is a big shame that people still have yet to realize the impact that all the downloading of music on the net has done to DESTROY the industry. Yes the big labels will survive (but are in horrendous times) but all the dance lables which already mostly run on a shoe-string budget are getting killed by all the downloading. It's affecting EVERYTHING across the board. Record labels can't survive (people out of work) Artists can't get their tracks signed (why even bother writing music if you can't make money) Record stores can't stock up on records (already a low overhead) so they don't buy records anymore...no sales = no money = no more record store News Headline Dance music destroyed by mp3's!!! Unfortunately people will never get the wake-up call and continue to just download and download and download. It's one thing to download to find something and then support it by buying, but it's another thing to download and then give it to 100 of your friends. I think I'm gonna go into Real Estate
  6. I'm so there bro. Actually I'll probably be doing an interview with Jules beforehand for The Wednesday Show
  7. Hey Guys, just wanted to pass some news on to you. You know (or don't know) I do The Wednesday Show every week live. We've been getting great support from a lot of the clubbing boards from around the world and we decided to start a global DJ showcase called the "Global Sessions" to showcase talent from board DJ's to help get them support and exposure across the world. We already have a bunch of submissions from guys around the world, and wanted to make sure the NY crew gets represented! If anyone is interested email me at guestspot@thewednesdayshow.com and I'll have more info for you. - Pete
  8. I'm making a public apology to Jason. My emotions got in the way because of my feeling towards the owner (for reasons we wont go into) Jason, Yes, I deserved that email. BUT in no way was it a disrespect to you IN ANY WAY. If you want to question my respect for you, go call Russ and he can tell you about our conversations about how we think you DON"T get more of the respect you deserve. Jason (without coming across as a kiss-ass) you are honestly one of the DJ's in this scene that I have the utmost respect for. I have NEVER heard a single bad set from you. Granted I'm not always a fan of what you *have* to play at Mirage, but it is still the highest quality music you will find anywhere on LI, and for many other areas also. That is something I've already discussed with you. What you do, you do with the utmost professionalism. Cyberia, CPI and when I caught you at Exit, nothing short of what I have come to expect from you over the years....going back to Cheetah days. I am wrong for bringing any sort of music-related issues into this when my issue is completely different. I am sorry for the short-sightedness on my part by letting emotions get in the way of realizing what I was saying would directly affect you. - Peter
