  3. April 27, 2005 Say it with me..."I LOVE HOUSE!" It comes in all sounds and styles. It's forever changed to meet the new times while keeping its soul from the past. From the first time I heard it in 1987 til now, House Music has forever altered, formed, deformed, grooved, chilled, moved, and motivated my very existence. I dedicate this episoide of DJ Culture to that sound we call house, with mixes from myself and guest DJs PETER HAZE and DANNYBOY. Excelsior! 5. I'm starting to think I need to be a little more clear with the name of the show. "DJ Culture" is the name of the show. My name is D-Jam. I picked that name because all of this...the turntables, cds, music, people, nightlife, etc...it's the culture that revolves around the DJ. Oh well. Check out the show...let me know what you think.
  6. December 19, 2004 I'M BACK! After literally almost two months out of action, I'm happy to bring DJ Culture back on the internet! I'd like to apologize to all my fans for the lapse of time that passed between the October show and now, but this is a labor of love, and thus sometimes the responsibilities of a normal life come into play on all this. The show is also now MP3. No more Windows Media. I use .m3u files to stream parts and MP3 if you wish to download. Hopefully you will like this better than the old format. The "return" show as I called it is also extended for this special occasion, featuring two guest DJs - Artek and Darin Epsilon. I also tossed in the "rare" hip-hop set I played recently at Gramercy. Enjoy the return! 8. October 14, 2004 After several shows of really light, happy, energetic music, I decided to turn things down a notch and get a little more mellow. Some deep house in hour 1, and some kind of music (I know as prog) in hour 3. Our guest DJ is Chicago old school legend PUMP BOY LEE with a mix of some more funky house stylings. STAY TUNED! Next show I will have two old school mixes just in time for Halloween. Hour 1 will be a classic house/new wave/industrial "Medusa's" style mix, while hour 3 will kick hard with that early 90s rave techno. More to come. 9. This Week's Guest DJ: Eco DJ Eco was first into underground hip hop before he discovered his love for almost all electronica music. His passion for DJs and everything about them came about when he was 12. His very first influences were DJ Babu, Dilated Peoples, Talib Kweli, Method Man, Redman, and Wu Tang. He was never into the more mainstream rap, and always loved the raw beats. When he was 13, he got his first trance CD, "music through me" mixed by DJ Micro. As much as he didn’t want to admit it at first, he was amazed at the euphoric melodies in the trance tracks on the CD. A short while after, he started making his own tracks on music-making software (still up to this day) and released his first original production album, called “80 minutes from homeâ€. The next year, when he was 14, he went to his first club, Club Abyss, in Sayerville, NJ. That is when he decided to completely ditch hip hop. About a year after his first CD, DJ Eco released his second original album called “whispersâ€. This album was more popular than his first, and three of the songs were paid by Webster Hall Records to be licensed (but were never released or distributed). As he got older, it was obvious that he was ahead of his time, because all of a sudden, it seemed like everyone was into electronica/dance music, and the teen clubs became the place to be. Even thought he was producing for many years, DJ Eco got his first (and current) pair of turntables and mixer, only less than a year ago. DJ Eco has broadcast live on many internet radio stations, which were broadcast live on real radio, around Europe and around the Western US. His major influences are Paul van Dyk, Cosmic Gate, Tiesto, and Donald Glaude. He hasn’t done any major events, but will be sure to amaze you in the coming months. He lives for the club scene and lifestyle, and draws so much energy from the crowd (who in turn, draws their energy from him and his music). DJ Eco isn’t just a DJ. He is a live performance, in a way, taking the crowd on ups and downs, on a journey into dance music. There is no other DJ like him in New York, and he is the first electronica added to Just Blaze Entertainment, and the head of Just Blaze Electronika.

  12. September 2, 2004 ATTENTION: Starting in September, this show will go bi-weekly...meaning every 2 weeks. It will be opposite to the bi-weekly show ChicagoHouseRocks. As much as I love doing this, I need to make time for grad school. After two past shows of deep, dark, techy, and smooth; I want to have some FUN and pump a little energy. No cheese in this house, but just things on a more lively tip. I may have just turned 31, but I am in no way feeling it. Enjoy the trip. Hour 1 Mixer: D-Jam Genre: Funky Jazzy House -------------------------------------------------------- Play - Download (Windows Media) Hour 1 of the September 2, 2004 edition of DJ Culture. Taking things on a more lively, funky, jazzy end. Literally everything in this mix is brand new off of Beatport.com with the exception of "Around The World" by Daft Punk. 13. This Week's Guest DJ: obuchiteck obuchiteck With a typical DJ there is a typical DJ background. Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky obuchiteck was fortunate enough to have a strong grasp of music. Having a Puerto Rican mother from Chicago who constantly played and talked about music from the "Beach Boys" to the soulful-ness of "Nina Simone". With a father from Breathitt, Kentucky who also loved music, obuchiteck's music carrier actually was playing bluegrass with his family. A loving smart and open family whose tastes and motto is "Variety is the spice of life" and "life without music is a tragedy". Thus an unpredictable apprentice to the electronic world was born. obuchiteck "It's not the great trix that make a DJ. You have to respect the crowd and their intelligence. If you know your music, enjoy the music and play with love you will be rewarded with the crowd's love. " obuchiteck's History: age 13- attended his first Rave age 18- he and two other friends opened an underground night club (They were too young to get a liquor license.) age 15-21 paid homage to the electronic scene buy helping develop, from scratch, a music scene in central Kentucky. age 26- moved to Chicago with his fiancée started DJing with various Chicago crews. * Intergruv Networks - Respect / Respect II * Uriel Promotions - various parties * Lithium night club - Ran an open turntable night * The Mutiny - Weekend Resident promotions age 27 - married his second half and got the extra fuel to bring his music and Chicago's music to the next level. age 28 and on- Watch out here he comes! 15. This Week's Guest DJ: Ziel100 ...also known under his civil name Matthias Gustke, is the inventor and organizor of the After Hour Party taking place in autumn and winter at the U Bar of U60311 Frankfurt. In this occasion he plays regularly at the U60311 and is no unknown DJ in other clubs as well. Equipped with turntables since 1988, enthousiastic DJ and producer Ziel100 went out to fight for the electronic music – although the first years of his music career were dedicated to the Scratches and Beat-Jugglings of HipHop. Kindled with the first rave-tracks from England, his career as rave-musician was just a bit slowed down by his training to a commercial man. During his alternative service, he had more time to fulfill his first DJ Sets in well known Rhein-Main underground clubs such as XS, Kunstraum, Liquid Sky, St. Tropez and MTW. Consequence of his love to the music were productions on his own equipment together with DJ Mike L (Neuton): the NKS EP on Aural Satisfaction (Andreas Kauffelt’s Label) was the result on black and whity vinyl. Til now, Ziel100 was allowed to prove his skills in many other clubs and discotheques and put his style-mixture of Electrobeats, Techno and NuWave to the test: and he passed the test through the ears of the audience for example at the Nature One, the Sound of Frankfurt, at U60311, Roxy (Prague), Bora Bora (Ibiza), Fire and Ice (Mumbai) or Presswerk (Basle) as well as on several radio shows broadcasted all over Germany. He organized parties in sometimes uncommon locations: under bridges or in subways, in old gas stations aside with todays protagonists as Andreas Kauffelt, Nelson Machado or Ricardo Villalobos. With ‘rUnterkommen’ Ziel100 initiated in 2001 the After Hour of U60311 taking place Saturday afternoons. Now in the 3rd season the club becomes the crazy hostel of the techno community – during the day! Meanwhile rUnterkommen has found a lot of imitators who try to come near the original with more or less success. Perhaps the choice of the guest DJs who are invited by Matthias gives a familiar, sympathic touch to the parties: most of them are good friends and collegues out of his numerous contacts in nightlife: Jeremias (Kassel), Daniel R. (Airport), Bas Molendyk (Bayreuth), Cess (Frankfurt), John Occlusion (Frankfurt), Hardy Heller (Worms) just to tell some. The party still has an exceptional position in club life and there is a colourful crowd – some are still celebrating from the party the night before, some are just looking in from their shopping tour and stay till the end… While everyday life goes on outside. Every 3rd Thursday there used to be Pitch Control Party also at U60311 – the techno party to the same named radio show on hrXXL together with Pauli Steinbach and Chris Liebing. On the same radio station Ziel100 hosted a chill out show as well until the station was changed to youFM end of 2003 with a less electronical music programm. Further projects of Ziel100 are the JetSet Parties (Electro Rock-Shock Sound) and Joy Division (Chill Out Electronics) both taking place at U60311. Dates and further infos under www.ziel100.de , contact ziel100@ziel100.de , booking booking@ziel100.de or www.good-groove-music.de Ziel100, Matthias Gustke, Schmittener Str. 23, 60489 Frankfurt, Tel. +49 (0) 69 – 255 36 770 Want to be a guest DJ?
