Rangers get Kovalev....

SCARBOROUGH, Ontario -- The New York Rangers have turned to a familiar face in the push for their first playoff spot in six years.

New York won the sweepstakes for Alexei Kovalev, acquiring the All-Star right wing on Monday as part of an eight-player trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Kovalev was sent to New York with center Dan LaCouture and defensemen Janne Laukkanen and Mike Wilson for wingers Rico Fata and Mikael Samuelsson, defensemen Joel Bouchard and Richard Lintner and cash.

The cash-strapped Penguins have been looking to unload Kovalev, who is making $4.6 million in the final year of his contract.

Looks like I'm gonna be heading to the Garden tomorrow to see if I can get any tickets for this Fridays game against the Pens....
