American Club music sucks

Recommended Posts

you have got to be joking - DT, morales, knuckles, Morrillo & the subliminal crew - the subliminal night @ centro fly is mind blowing, I could go on & on - have you been before - you must go to know!!!

House music comes in many forms & everyone has there own bag - me I love house music full stop - bring on all styles!!

Yeah I admit the tunes are different to what we play. But I wouldn't say it sucks.

Personally I think British music is pretty poor. It's fairly tame and I'm shocked to realise that people are trying to commercialise the scene and put it into the charts.

LEAVE IT ALONE I say. and leave the underground music to the clubbers. I'd rather not hear pathetic clubby/boppy/dancy tunes being pumped out by Top of the Pops thanx! cwm23.gif

And besides I prefer the full on french acid techno breakfast scene. BRING IT ON!

Personally i think the UK scene is beging to get VERY, VERY bad. It's grown so much now that most of what is going round is cheese.

The good underground clubs are few and far between because everybody seems to be booking the hard house crew. Bloody Fergie, Jules are all over, playing crap to kidcs taking far too many drugs.

The crossover to main stream has caused some clubs to loose there minds. I rember Cream being a great club, now it's mainstream trash (but hopefully they are turning that around).

well said B2B - Though I would add that London has the kinda nights which are still underground but assesible such as fabric & bedrock & the end - the trends usually start here years before going mainstream - hard house was massive in london back in 96/97 but you're right - its just mainstream bollox now - US club music is superb !!

AND... set's are too short in the UK.. the bloody DJ's get paid too much. Very rarely will you get and 8 hour set. Where as you get one every weekend in NY.

theres nothing worse than seeing some shite so called 'A List' DJ bowl in a club, play some cheesy records for an hour and then piss off - with mamoth sets from people like d-dish, DT & S&D you get the real deal!!!!!!!

Yeh and the thing is if you go to Crasher or Cream you will get Jules on then 2 hours later you will get somebody else playing the same shit. It's go to stop, the guest DJ circuit is messing it all up.

Back to basics mate that's what it's all about. Go back a few years, we want Frankie, Morales, Sanchez live P.A, live percussion. Dirty, long sets that arn't just about House or Techno or Trance.

I did not mean to sound ignorant although I am in a sense. I am not a super techno freak, I don't know all the top Dj's this that and more, I listen to what I like, I don't care so much about who is who etc. I should say that these days music seems better in most NYC clubs, but I remember a few years back, man I could not listen to this shit, everything was heavy, no sound variety "It's time for the perculator type" I hated it, Now its different although I think they don't play as much variety as they should....correct me if I am wrong

RIGHT THEN!!!!!!!!!!

Quite frankly if you wanna waste your money going to MOS, Home, Bed etc etc etc then go for it. As Ali G would say "you is well batty".

However, if you people wanna hear TUNES!!!! as in deep down dirty thumping banging smack-you-in-the-chest, bend_you_over_backwards_and_screw_you_royally TUNAGE then you actually have to go a decent club. One's which don't cost the earth to get in to, ones where drinks aren't expensive (usually the bar is makeshift!).

I would personally recommend The Drome which is big, dirty, dark and BANGING. Or for a really tripped out psychadelic experiance then try Tyssen Street.

But I do have to hold my hands up and admit.... I went to Creamfields this year. frown.gif (oh the shame! smile.gif )

basically I got what I deserved, which was to pay £50 for a ticket £50 to get there from london and then get to see ALL SAINTS on stage. (Um..... yeah....... really banging music that they play and all.) Nw don't get me wrong, All Saints are nice and chillin music, but not what I'd expect from a festival. Save your money peeps and check out the illeagal raves which go down all over london loads. They are the best!

You are wrong. Very wrong, but that is in my opinion. As it is your opinion that American club music sucks. If everbody agreed this board would be very boring. I do not know what side of the big river called the atlantic you are from ( I thought it was big Pond?) have you experienced clubbing on both sides of the atlantic? probably not huh!

In the US house music is a minority, no radio play, chart entries etc, which means it's underground, real unlike the UK where every piss poor town has a house club.

You go on to say how you don't know the who's who of dj's, and you listen to what you like? So how the hell do you know what is UK and what is US. The stuff you are waving your glowsticks to is probably produced or remixed by an american anyway. Listen to Back2basics and ultra7 they know what there talking about.

Ok this is getting a bit too heated yeah?

Lets chill for a second. And also remember that my idea of music is probably completly different to yours all. So who really cares who's music is 'better'? I'm happy as long as I'm in a club I feel safe in, the tunes are grabbing me, the people are friendly, and I have all my mates who I love and adore dancing with me. Surely that is all that truly matters?

Gosh I'm getting philosophical in my old age. cwm7.gif

Don't get me wrong there are good producers and club nights in the UK. They are just harder to find now. It's ok saying go to the Illegal rave.. but i did that when i was 16 and i don't want to anymore (there not the same now anyway blah blah blah). There always surounded by drama and crackheads. And i want a few drinks, cold, at a bar... not a bin full of Carling and ice smile.gif

I went to Elements run by the hooj boys, which was great.. proper house, proper people.
