Now in its 10th year, the National Capital Barbecue Battle takes over the streets of DC for one smokin', fun-filled weekend all in the name of barbecue. Other attractions at this bonanza barbecue fest include NASCAR race cars, the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile, a wine-tasting pavilion, rides, games and much more. For those into the odd and quirky, there are even special exhibits including the "World's Tallest Peanut" and the "World's Largest Traveling Grill." And if that's not enough, the Barbecue Battle will play host to top national and regional rock, reggae, R&B, jazz and blues musicians, including Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Chuck Brown, The Pietasters, Jah Works, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Bobby Parker and many others.

Okay, I am not happy about all the white shirt wearing, beard sporting rednecks that will be milling about, but after the sun sets and they go back to the burbs, it's go-go time baby!

If you have never seen him, I would highly recommend checking Chuck Brown out - and high marks for the Kelly Bell Band too.

i would love to, but i'll need to check with zaguero, i already said that i'll tag along with him to his company's picnic and help him make his moves on his bosses daughter on Sat. from 2-6pm.

if we do go to the bbq thing, it would be a good excuse to invite my other lewser non-patying friends & see if they want to go.
