Why is D.C without a high end lounge/club?

1223 is not my idea of high end, do I just not know where they are since I just got here or do they not exist?

I don't know about dragonfly, but I heard 5 was more of a bigger club, and I heard ESL was basically someones idea of what they thought was hip in NYC, but ends up being like 10 years ago.

I met some people who were headed there last night, but I don't really know anything about it. Basically I'm looking for a hip place with a strict dresscode and door policy and hot women

Dong diss a lounge based on what you have "heard". The people on this board go to Nation, Glow, etc. 5 is a junior version of Glow. Not upscale at all, no door policy. 18th St lounge and Andalu have a door policy on certain nights. Thurs and Fri. International set. If you want NYC, get on a plan and go back to NYC.

Try Sole' and Harbour Club on the waterfront. I have been in Italy for several months so I don't know what it's like these days but both of them were rather nice the last time I went. What clubs did you go to before in (you said you came from..) New York? Maybe I can point you more in the right direction from there.

sap - come on now, going to nation isn't like catching gonnorhea... you make it sound like you had to go take a shower just to clean up from writing the word, no less going there

There are no high end clubs in DC because DC people are smart enough not to put up with that shit... you like standing in lines just for the sake of standing in a line?

Some times I like to stand in lines. Even moreso when it is raining - freezing - Hot as nuts - or snowing. I have had some of my best nights doing nothing but standing in line all night.

What does hi end have to do with lines. In New York the places with the longest lines are usually huge crappy places like Webster Hall. At most smaller places you are either getting in or you're not no matter how long you wait. In NYC, I like places like Dorsia, Rehab, GO, Pangaea, Suite 16, etc........

P.S
I wouldn't be in D.C if I didn't have a reason, so going to NYC isn't an option thanks for the constructive help though

Re: Door Policy

5 and glow are like night and day. 5 sat nights has a better vibe than glow ever will (good house nights like miguel migs and marques wyatt). Plus they've got better dancers there and not filled with mainly fucked up rolling face asians. ESL does have a strict door policy and the music is usually downtempo. For starters if you are a "somebody" (celeb, etc) don't expect to get in. Same goes for Red. It's funny how Red and 18 st are are owned by 1 1/2 of theivery but diff in many ways. Anyway, ppl like the bush daughters have been rejected from 18st and Bill Maher was rejected from Red. Funny shit. btw, both places aren't marked on purpose.
