dammit vic beat me to it... cursed phone call! leftover pieces are always bad. might wanna figure out where the bracket goes to. or the condensation unit might just be busted, thus all the leaky water.

It might be frozen. If the A/C unit freezes up it can cause that to happen. Turn it off for a day, I know that sounds like a lot to ask in this heat but it should help. Also make sure that your vents are clean of dust and dirt. It's not good to run window units like that all the time anyway. It's not a central A/C unit that will be more efficent if set to a certain temp. A/C unit will leak water, it's natural, it's just removing the moisture from the air before cycling it thru the system causing condensation. You might want to make sure that the A/C unit is level or maybe slightly tilted outside the window. Hope this could help. Czech here too.
