Sasha & Digweed - Essential Mix from Miami

I crossed this in Vic's thread on d/l music help, but just to let u all know:

This EM was supposedly one of the best all time. To hear some reviews, here's a site: http://www.tracklistings.org/broadby...p?s=em&bid=466

The first half is people complaining, something about the "queen's mum" died and they didn't broadcast it on Radio 1 the other weekend like they normally do, so it was broadcast this past weekend. But the second half is what u should read....

To get the mix, you can go to the link Vic posted http://d2k.dedserver.org/index2.php. This is a site u should have bookmarked anyways, an incredible site for d/ling new sets.

Anyhow, it's a live set from Miami at the WMC and I wasn't there, nor have I heard it yet, but I thought I'd let u all know, especially since they'll be intown Sunday night. My advice is to download this set now, listen to it all week, and get ready to go bananas Sunday night! Spread the music.....

question - i've never actually used the cue sheets...how does it work? does it split the mp3 files into the individual tracks? the prob w/ that is splitting the one file into the indiv tracks is that when i upload it into my mp3 player, it now thinks the one set is a bunch of smaller tracks...do u get what i mean?

I get what u mean. First when you download the set, you should combine the entire first set together into one mp3 file, and the same with the second set. You do this by d/l the hjsplit program from the website (very easy to use, and a very small, simple program). Then you have 1 file for each set. When you go to burn the CD, you have the cue file in the same directory as that file, and you need a burner program that allows you to upload cue sheets. When you tell it to use the cue sheet, it automatically searches for it in that directory, and will separate the 1st file into individual songs at those specific points.

As for your mp3 player, you can just upload the 1st set in its entirety and listen to it all the way through by using that hjsplit, if that's what u want to do....

do you mean that there is like a small pause between each track?

i dont know how the cue sheets work, but on some CD's that a few friends burned for me some time ago, there is like a small pause between each track and it is a bit annoying, 'cos you cant listen the whole transition from one track to another.

crank47 will become famous soon enough
You should be able to set the delay or pause to zero. At worst there will be a slight "click" or "hiccup" between tracks.

yah, i;ve been using the d2k site for a long time, and use hj split and all that. my question really is, since i don't burn these sets to cd but rather upload to my mp3 player, there's no point in using the cue sheets, yah?

right, well, unless you want to be able to skip to a certain song, as you would with say a GU release. If you always just want to start from the beginning of the set and have to "fast forward" through 25 minutes to get to a song, then no, you don't need the cue sheets. If you want to skip to the song, it's a nice convienence.

I also agree with crank/vic, if you can figure out how to set the pause time to zero, you should. It does get annoying if you are jamming to a song, and then there's 2 seconds of silence, and then it picks up right where it left off....

ok, lemme get this straight - the cue sheet effectively splits the single mp3 files into multiple individual mp3 files, right? so in my mp3 player, it'll think all these mp3 files are separate and wouldn't play them together unless i put it together in a playlist, right?

also, the pause thing wouldn't apply to me b/c again, i'm not burning to cd
