  2. JUNO REACTOR

    Friday, September 26

    Metro & Silver Wrapper Present...

    Juno Reactor

    Future Rock Live P.A.

    DJ Hush

    Tickets: $20

    18 & over

    Doors: 9pm / Show: 10pm

With an endless list of artist collaborations, Japanese taiko drumming, South African percussion, Carnatic style vocals, break beats, mixed tribal influences, and utilizing every instrument (most likely including the kitchen sink), everyone can find something to love about Juno Reactor. One of the most dynamic acts around today, Juno Reactor is hard to categorize. Ben Watkins, the mastermind behind the band, mixes trancey sonic vibes and impressive beats with the talent of world musicians to formulate an intense experimental ambient soundtrack in what can only be called music acrobatics. This is one band that has pitched the typical dance-techno formula, and has instead created an expansive vision that explores multiple worlds and cultures.

Originally formed out of the Goa vibe of the early 90's, Juno Reactor developed as an art project aimed at producing a soundtrack for performance and sculpture artist Norma Fletcher's "The Missile Project". Watkins’ original inspiration was to create experimental music and non-musical soundtracks that would work with installations, art pieces and film projects. Continually expanding their collaborations through each album, Watkins eventually introduced Amampondo, Nelson Mandela’s favorite traditional South African percussion act, to the world of Juno Reactor, and continues to tour with them.

The sonic adventure of Gods & Monsters, their latest album, captivated the minds of even the most critical listeners. Lucky for us, Juno Reactor is just as intricate with their live shows as they are with their records. Described as a circus from the netherworld, Juno reactor shows off the dominate musicianship behind their mind-expanding music, the acrobatics of Amampondo, hypnotic lighting effects, and mesmerizing visualizations, to put forth one of the most raw and intense live shows out there today. From the tribes of the past to the rock bands of the future, you’ll get it all with Juno Reactor. So come out to Metro on September 26th, to see the past, present, and future of music collide in what is sure to be a mind-blowing experience.
