He resists conforming to genres and refuses to label his work. As a DJ his track selections are often audacious and brazenly fresh, challenging the audience towards expansion of their listening vocabulary as he simultaneously herds them onto the dance floor time and again. With the recent launch of his digital label Curbed Recordings and a residency playing beside some of the best artists in the world at Chicago’s Vision night club he’s definitely got his hands full. His resume includes opening for the likes of Sasha, James Zabiela, MANDY, Steve Lawler and John Digweed who has been quoted as saying “Wahi is set to make a splash." DINO G BIO: As a DJ, producer and business owner, Dino G combines his tech-house talent with a knack for turning the entertainment industry on ear. For nearly a decade, he has made a mission of not only bringing premiere underground dance acts to Chicago, Ibiza and beyond, but also playing alongside them on an international stage. When not performing on the decks, Dino G handles business as co-owner of Chicago’s acclaimed SpyBar, hosting the venue’s flagship underground weekly “Dino G Presents . . .†and showcasing a slew of heavy-hitting, electronic music driven talent. With more musical and financial freedom, Dino G set his eyes on the prize, launching a Friday night weekly that would continually showcase a rotating cast of top international techno and house talent.

If you’ve seen Loco Dice perform at his ten-year-long Tribehouse residency in his hometown Düsseldorf, or at DC-10 in Ibiza (from ’02-’06), you will have clicked to this. Loco Dice is someone who can puzzle together intangible moods with a direct approach. Via his DJ sets or his productions on labels like M_nus, Cadenza, Ovum, Four Twenty and Cocoon, he merges perspectives in his delicate sense for sounds and reflective atmospheres, underpinned with solid, physical grooves inspired by the hip hop that was his early sonic stomping ground in the mid- to late ‘90s. There’s something there for the dreamers, as well as for the 9-to-5ers who just want to lose everything in a moment of abandon on the dancefloor. Don’t think that merging of perspectives is accidental. This Loco Dice, with his mercurial temperament, may let his thoughts run away with him, but he tends to chase those ideas and make them into an artistic reality. His DJ sets, whether at Germany’s biggest rave Timewarp, Cocoon in Ibiza or a beach party in South America, are spontaneous orchestrations fueled by the nuances of a night/venue/crowd. He began a fruitful studio partnership with Martin Buttrich in 2002 leading to tracks like Phatt Dope Shit, Menina Brasiliera, and Seeing Through Shadows, and these productions are meticulously planned by Dice. It’s a directorial, cinematic outlook, which permeates Dice’s everyday life, and comes not just from the outlandish escapades and scrapes that he has sometimes found himself living out in real life. It also stems from elaborate film scripts imagined as a young Loco Dice on the streets of Flingern in Düsseldorf and the Kerkennah Islands in Tunisia. This continues to be a habit of Loco Dice’s today: to close his eyes for just one minute, and see a whole cornucopia of scenes and atmospheres. As one manifestation of this, visitors to Düsseldorf early this year will be able to see an exhibition of photographs taken by Loco Dice & Martin Buttrich during the year they spent in New York City to work on the Loco Dice album. It’s an album that re-imagines the soul of a city, built from careful observations of urban tribes that crisscross and sometimes clash, of minute details and sensory impressions. Family is important to Loco Dice, as you might have noticed if you’ve seen one of his tattoos, a Chicano-style artwork with the legend “Guadelupe”. His love for music stems from hearing soul and funk in the kitchen, and holidays with his mother to Tunisia, where he absorbed North African and Middle Eastern folk music and occasionally sneaked away to watch his grandfather playing dice at café tables on the street. Family is how he’s always regarded the people close to him, and it’s how he regards subcultures too. A football player, he’s inspired by those who build strong teams of creative people around them. This sense of family is what he wants to create with projects like his and Buttrich’s label Desolat, and an artist management agency he run with Tom Preuss called Artist Alife. When you visit the office of Desolat and Artist Alife, you’re struck by the fact that everyone seems to come from a different cultural background. Loco Dice’s experience of Germany is one that includes friends and collaborators who are of African, Eastern European, Italian or Turkish descent. Loco Dice is interested in all kinds of people and artistic subcultures: he’s proud of people who bring a creative flair to what they do, informed by lives lived ever so slightly less ordinary. In that sense, Dice’s innate understanding of people: what they sense, what they feel, what they want to imagine, is a part of what distinguishes him from other DJs. He’s very aware when playing in Ibiza of the multiplicity of nationalities that are gathered there, the morass of different desires to be catered to. His inner film scriptwriter makes him capable of translating sounds and kicking it like a local, whether it’s in Naples or in New York. Loco Dice is similarly capable of inspiring, of creating that heady atmosphere that can only be experienced in a crowd of thousands. This skill of his, first cultivated at DC-10, is also no doubt informed by his experiences touring with big name hip hop artists in the ‘90s. Mark Spoon used to promise him that at some point Loco Dice would shuffle sideways from his beloved house and hip hop to “come over and be one of us”, one of the techno believers. In a sense, he was right, though Loco Dice never leaves anything behind: he still brings out classics, whether classic techno from Maurizio to Basic Channel or gritty boompty house by DJ Sneak, and he’s still fond of composing music, as linear as it may be, that draws on hip hop song structures and basslines. At the end of the day, as Loco Dice sees it, everything runs in loops, and it’s his job to trace a line, to sketch out the next scenes in this soundtrack. Even if life tends to be unpredictable, a little chancey, the next move doesn’t have to be a gamble. In fact, Loco Dice shows via his compositions that it can be very well planned. Listen to his music, imagine the cinematic accompaniments, and you’ll understand how something carefully constructed can begin with a flight of fancy, or a roll of the dice.

(DJ MAG May 1999) Over the past decade, the two producers have released 10 artist longplayers, more than 20 singles (all of them charted in the Sales Charts) and also founded their very own label SOUNDCOLOURS plus set up their own music publishing. So they are totally independent in the music industry. The new Album "Eat Raw For Breakfast" was made under the impressions of their recent tour in Australia and New Zealand. They were requested for this amazing show called "Boombox" which set new standards in stage design and visual effects. When Piet and Jaspa saw the first scetches and animated ideas for this tour, they knew that they wanted to create a special sound for this incredible show. So within 2 months they recorded all songs on this album and had the focus on Club Music and Nightclubbing only! The result is a new sound that totally rocked the tour and showcases perfectly what Blank & Jones sound like in the club today! It is mixed non stop to bring the perfect flavour to your ears. The artwork is another masterpiece which shows their passion for modern art. After they worked with the legendary designer Emil Schult (who designed all artworks for Kraftwerk as well), on their "Monument" album, they now had a master student of no other than Gerhard Richter to design the artwork for the new album. Frank Bauer is famous for his photo realism and created a very unique and outstanding cover art which goes perfectly with the music.

In 1987, one of his friends visited Vinylmania in New York and returned with some vinyl –Hernán’s first exposure to Chicago House. In that moment, Frankie Knuckles, who should have a huge influence on Hernán and his blossoming career, broke into the scene and quickly became an icon of the incipient house genre. The way Frankie Knuckles and artists like Inner City and Derrick May brought together the energy of european electronic music with the soul of North American music left an impact on Hernán and set the tracks for his career. His elemental understanding of dance music might be the reason why he could firmly position himself amongst the most respected DJs of the world. In the middle of the Nineties, Hernán had become the cultural force of the dance music movement that was still in its infancy in his country. As a resident in Clubland Buenos Aires, his talent was quickly recognized and his name soon associated with the most respected figures of dance, such as Paul Oakenfold –turning into one of his closest friends as their relationship evolved-, Sasha, John Digweed and Danny Tenaglia. Clubland soon grew to be one of the renowned clubs in the world. Hernán’s eclectic deep house, tribal and progressive sets attracted the attention of the superclub Cream who then chose Hernán to become their southamerican resident. His career took off in 1996 and 1997 when both years he won a local award of “DJ of The Year†and, after joining Paul Oakenfold on his European tour, a lot of doors were opening for him. Playing universities and clubs all over Britain and mainland Europe, he managed to stun his receptive audience with his passionate sets and his impeccable mixing techniques. Consequently, he got signed to Oakenfold’s label Perfecto with whom he released his first ever international mix CD South America. It was again down to Oakenfold that Hernán, in 98 and 99, traveled to the United States and was invited to a row of prestigious events and festivals such as Burning Man, in Nevada and the Red Rocks Amphitheater, in Denver. Immediately after that, he was made resident in Cream Liverpool as well as in Ibiza and started touring all around the globe. In summer 2001, Hernán could already look back on an extensive string of important events and festivals, such as the Clapham Common festival in London, where he played in front of 70,000 people, Creamfields, Homelands, as well as the Cream birthday party in Liverpool. By that time, Cattáneo also entered the DJ Mag ranking, firmly positioning himself on number 50 as well as on the cover of the magazine. That same year his track Deep Funk hit the charts on number 50, he was voted “Best Newcomer DJ†at the prestigious Pacha Ibiza Awards, and started his own radio show on the argentinean radio station Metrodance (95.1 FM). Less than a year later, Hernán moved into the Top 25 of the DJ Mag ranking. Hernán’s career was now accelerating at light speed. He did not only continue to wow the masses in the best clubs and most prestigious festivals of the world, he also continued to leave a mark as a producer, making a stunning remix for Morgan Page which went out on Bedrock, John Digweed’s well-respected label. As well as producing in conjunction with Subliminal -and Yoshitoshi- favorite Dean Coleman, he went into the studio with the prolific John Tonks who would later become his production partner and with whom he also made another noteworthy production such as the remix of the techhouse track Heron Castle. With the objective to make the most out of his success, Hernán decided it was the perfect moment to put out another mix CD. Luckily enough, he got snapped up by Rennaissance who at that time were looking for an adequate successor for their Masters Series, which focusses on the presentation of the most talented global DJs, such as Sasha, John Digweed, Deep Dish and Danny Howells, among others. With great enthusiasm, Hernán exceeded all expectations. The year 2004 turned out to be one of the most intense in his burgeoning DJing career. He traveled all over the world promoting his Renaissance mix album; played at the best clubs in Europe, toured five times to the United States and three to Asia. At the same time, he began an active participation on the media, taking on assignments as music reviewer in the North American music publications URB Magazine and BPM and on Rolling Stone’s latin-american edition. At the end of the year, he found himself on position number 6 in DJ Mag’s ranking. By the beginnings of 2005, Hernán released the anticipated second part of Renasissance’s Master Series –being the first ever DJ asked to do a another volume for the label– which included a track called Warsaw with John Tonks, consequently put on on Bedrock, and a remix on Jeff Bennett’s Strange Items, which hit the number one spot in Mixmag’s Update. The same year, Hernán began another world tour. The highlights of this restless four-cities-per-week tour included shows in the United States where Hernán performed alongside the likes of the Chemical Brothers and New Order, and at Coachella festival with headliners such as Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, Prodigy and Kasabian. In May 2006, Hernán launched, again through Renaissance, his own CD series called Sequential which, so far, has earned him only top rankings in the world’s leading music publications: it scored five out of five stars and “Leading Player†in DJ Mag, full rating in UK’s M8, and “4 out of 5 –the best compilation Hernán’s ever made†in IDJ Mag. One of the top tracks is Hernán’s rework of Nick Miur’s I Feel Real. Sirocco, Hernán’s new single, again produced with studio partner John Tonks, turned out # 1 in the Balance Chart and top five downloads of www.djdownloads.com With an eclectic mix of tracks that includes a whole variety of house rhythms and productions from artists such as Way Out West, Marco Bailey, Paolo Mojo, 16 Bit Lolitas, Dousk, Bushwacka and a remix for Phonique featuring Royksopp’s Erlend Øye, his first installation of Sequential has become essential. The selection of tracks is not only utterly tasteful but also manages to transcend genres with each track having its own distinct sound and feel to it, united by a stimulating bassline and subtle breakdowns. For the cover artwork, Renaissance managed to win the acclaimed photographer John Ross who has previously worked with Kylie Minogue, The Manic Street Preachers and Deep Dish. Over the past twelve months, the popularity and buzz surrounding the young Brit reached explosive proportions, culminating in him being voted no.9 in 2009’s definitive DJ Mag Top 100 poll: one of only a handful of DJs to crack the world’s top ten before the age of 30. Was this down to producing pure club anthems like Exposure and Metropolis alongside stunning remixes for Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond, all of which led to him spending more time at the top of Beatport’s trance chart that any other artist in ‘09? Maybe it was the launch of his new Garuda label and club night, responsible for selling out Manchester’s iconic Sankeys club four times in a row whilst releasing his critically acclaimed compilation ‘The Sound Of Garuda’. Or perhaps it was the sheer amount of people he played to, banking half a million air miles travelling to over one hundred gigs at some of the world’s finest clubs and festivals. Whatever the reason, one thing is for certain: he’s on fire like never before. Of course, what seems like ‘overnight’ success is usually the result of years of hard work, and Gareth Emery is no exception. He started learning the piano at 4, and whilst he’d completed his classical music training before he’d finished school, his real interest lay elsewhere, initially in guitar-based sounds. This was the UK in the mid-90s with Britpop and indie the order of the day, although as one might expect, Emery was no slouch, following the footsteps of Green Day and Oasis by headlining Southampton’s legendary Joiners venue at the age of just 15 with his band at the time. But it was a chance trip to Ibiza in 1998 that opened his eyes to the appeal of dance music, and after spending the next three years learning to make music with computers and midi, rather than guitars and pianos, he wrote his first electronic classic: the seminal ‘Mistral’, famously made whilst on holiday in France on a £500 laptop. Plenty more were to come. These days, his records (which are composed, produced, and engineered entirely by him), span the worlds of trance, progressive, electro, techno, and a few other places. Languid, spacey grooves, juddering basslines and original melodies that take your breath away mean that it’s a given that Armin, Tiesto, Oakenfold, and Judge Jules have all been fully paid-up members of the Emery fan club for years. But more importantly, he’s firmly established as one of those rare producers who values quality over quantity, preferring to make five amazing records in a year then twenty average ones, and even happily refusing to release a track if it doesn’t feel “just rightâ€, to the occasional frustration of his fans. It’s this uncompromising attitude, that drive for something unattainably perfect, that has made him one of the most sought-after producers and remixers on the planet. But if there’s one place where he’s even more at home than in his studio, it’s behind the decks, where he’s morphed into the consummate superstar DJ, unequivocally demolishing dancefloors the world over. From global superclubs like Zouk in Singapore and Guvernment in Toronto, to epic festivals like Global Gathering, Trance Energy and Dance Valley, to the mega-brands like Ministry of Sound and Godskitchen, the utterly unique, instantly recognisable Emery sound continues to pack out more clubs, in more places across the world, than ever before. The rise of Gareth Emery to dance music’s premier league has been untraditional in almost every sense, and looking at his career, one gets the feeling he almost likes being the underdog. In 2009, when he was advised against launching his Garuda club night in the midst of one of the harshest recessions in living memory, he went ahead regardless, going on to totally sell-out every Garuda party that year. He also chose the road less travelled in 2006, when he turned down numerous offers from established radio stations to instead experiment with a virtually unknown format known as podcasting. It was a gamble that paid off, as four years and 100 episodes later, The Gareth Emery Podcast is now one of the most popular and influential dance music downloads in the world, with Emery’s famously diverse track selection and charismatic broadcasting style resulting in TGEP being nominated for ‘Best Podcast’ at the Miami Winter Music Conference IDMA Awards three years running. Having also eschewed the lure of corporate major labels since the beginning, (almost all of his singles have been released on his own imprints), he’s living proof that you can amass a truly global following with little more than the power of the internet and some outstanding music. With millions of viewers on YouTube and legions of fans on Facebook, Twitter and Myspace, he’s a modern artist in every sense of the word; one with his finger truly on the pulse of the globalised, digitised planet we now inhabit. He sums it up in a recent interview: “At the start, there was no helping hand: I had no record deal, no money, and no idea about how to make my way in the music business. Basically I was just a kid from Southampton, who was making half-decent music on some very cheap equipment, and told people to check it out. The rest just sort of happenedâ€. Inspirational stuff for talented kids everywhere. With a list of achievements already far surpassing most DJs ten years his senior, Gareth Emery could easily sit back and be content with his lot, but you get the feeling that won’t be happening. After seeing his Garuda brand become the hottest label and club night launch in recent years (the quantity of Garuda t-shirts you now see at Emery gigs is testament to that), his plans for the next year are firmly rooted in the studio, where he’s determined to finally finish his long-anticipated artist album. “2009 was really all about Garuda. I started the year without a real home for my music, and now I’ve got one – as well as our Manchester residency which really was the surprise success of the year. But whilst Garuda has some amazing releases and nights lined up for 2010, for me, the next year’s all about finishing my album. I’ve been promising it since 2006, and whilst making a LP is undoubtably challenging when you spend half of your life abroad touring, I’m determined to put everything aside to finally nail it this yearâ€. At just 29, Gareth Emery’s well on the way to conquering the electronic music world, and if he finally cracks that artist album, he might just do it. Whatever happens though, 2010’s set to be a big one, as the worldwide Garuda massive eagerly await to see what’s coming next from this uniquely talented artist. We can’t wait - see you on the dancefloor.

Counting superstar collaborations with everyone from Kid Cudi and Tommy Lee to Diddy and Daniel Bedingfield, SHARAM’s ability to draw such a vast talent pool is as impressive as his longstanding reputation for mesmerizing club crowds from Miami to Ibiza. “I always believe in moving forward,†says SHARAM, known to many as one-half of the now-on-hiatus Grammy Award winning duo DEEP DISH. “Whether it’s the way I DJ or remix songs to the way I produce, there has to be a constant forward motion. This album was no different. That philosophy--to do something different without losing sight of what I’m known for--is what makes Get Wild what it is. People are always looking for something new from me and I pride myself on pushing the boundaries of dance music and taking my fans on an entertaining musical ride†The 22 solely produced tracks on Get Wild span the full spectrum of dance music. Take the disc’s landmark “She Came Along,†which meshes elements of Patsy Cline’s legendary country song “Strange†with vocals by hip-hop sensation Kid Cudi, “This is really, really innovative. I haven’t heard anything like it: the Patsy Cline sample and how he blended it together and made it hip-hop too†says Kid Cudi. The end result is a masterpiece already being hailed as one of the most uniquely infectious genre bending songs of 2009 from Mixmag, Vibe magazine and slew of other publications to many of the upper echelon of producers including Kanye West. “I’ve always been a huge, huge Patsy Cline fan,†the Washington D.C.-based SHARAM says of the single. “She’s one of a kind. I had the idea to sample her for three years but I was looking to find someone who could match her. After trying different artists Cudi just nailed it, putting a really cool and interesting twist on it. He’s an unusually diverse and talented artist, because he’s very much a hip-hop fixture, but he understands dance music and is willing to try different things, plus he has an amazing voice. It’s a great contrast with Patsy Cline. His singing style and delivery was just perfect.†SHARAM’s broad creative scope has earned him a number of international Top 20 hits, like “PATT (Party All The Time)†which was in the UK Top 10 for three straight weeks, the Top 20 for eight weeks and the Top 40 for a total of 16 weeks, followed with “The Oneâ€--featuring U.K. pop fixture Daniel Bedingfield--that went on to capture the Top 20 spot in many European markets. “I get inspired by my environment and I always get hung up on songs and hooks,†SHARAM reveals. “I don’t look at things as cross-over or underground. I don’t play that closed-minded game. I come with an idea and see it through, where it lands is totally up to the DJs and the fans.†Sometimes those ideas become underground hits like “Texi†and “Crazi.†taking Ibiza clubs by storm, and sometimes they become international chart toppers like “PATT†and “The One.†If it isn’t apparent on a track by track basis, Get Wild as a whole is underpinned by a Western theme. From the atmospheric bookends of “The Wild Theme†and “Once Upon A Time In The West†to the aforementioned “She Came Along,†to the extraordinary artwork--which finds the multi-faceted SHARAM fiercely dressed in outlaw cowboy gear and clutching a smoking pistol--the project has a keen presence. “That’s taken at the Melody Ranch in L.A.,†SHARAM says of the cover art. “It’s a set for a lot of Western Movies and recently “Deadwoodâ€. The whole concept of Get Wild was a take on Spaghetti Westerns, especially those pioneered by Sergio Leone, where everything is super dramatic, sometimes very slow, over the top and extremely cool. I grew up on those movies so the song titles and the photo shoot and the videos for the title track and “She Came Along†have that Western theme. I’ll be incorporating the videos and western themed visuals into my live shows. It’s really fun because I was really fond of those movies in my childhood and now I get to have fun with them in my shows.†If Get Wild’s visual imagery is extremely distinct, it’s a perfect match for SHARAM, who always aspires to evolve creatively and strengthen dance music’s reputation. “I don’t play the trendy game,†he insists. “I don’t care about what’s cool or hot today versus what was the thing to like yesterday. I look for quality. First and foremost I’m a music fan and not one genre. The people I’ve chosen to work with on this album all represent quality in their own right, and they’re all innovators in their own worlds. I wanted to align myself with people like that.â€
