    whats in your cd player

Tony Humphries - Choice double-CD Miami 2003 double CD (haven't stopped playing this for most of the year, so many good tracks on this!) Danny Tenaglia - Choice double-CD DJ MFR - mix CD from Transport Records (nice SF style funky house) Obie Trice - Cheers (crazy rap from Eminem's label) I also heard a copy of DJ Chus "The Iberican Sound of Stereo Productions"...pretty good tribal/deep/prog mix.
  2. thanks...I'll have to check out Priviledge soon.
  3. thanks for the info...not exactly what most people would consider "sexy house"...I know Corvin Dalek as a producer and he makes hard house bordering on techno...check his hot tracks and you'll see records like "Cookie Dough Dynamo" which is definitely hard house...I would like to see him play live in Miami though...sounds like a good time!
  4. progressive house is John Digweed, Danny Howells, Sander Kleinenberg (though he's getting funkier), etc. sexy house (is that a genre?) or funky house is Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, Robbie Rivera, etc. There is alot of crossover though, since the best DJs play a mix of styles...Danny Tenaglia plays tribal, progressive, deep, and classics...Robbie Rivera plays hard disco and tribal (he's also one of the best house producers in the world)...prog DJs usually play the same monotonous style all night... hope this helps Lisa.
  5. so true...the crowd has definitely changed in Sobe the past couple of years. though the music is usually better in Miami than most other South Florida places. watch out for the "design district"...I think they'll be competing with SoBe hard the next couple of years. on another note for Saleen - great review for Delux...that place is OK...I live in WPB so I'm forced to club here from time to time..Liquid on Clematis St. isn't bad either.
  6. this list is so weak this year...who the hell is Armin van buuren anyway? is he supposed to be related to Armand van Helden? there is a lot of trance DJ's at the top of this list which is really scary! Marco V...don't know him either? Tenaglia didn't tour travel that much so I could see why he dropped...Roger Sanchez and Erick Morillo should have been much higher considering all the time they spent in Ibiza this summer...where are all these votes coming from? Here was my top 5 (which I actually voted on!): Danny T Roger S Erick Morillo John Digweed Mark Farina Honorable mentions to Hector Romero, Doc Martin, and Miguel Migs... So who made your top 5's this year?
  7. yeah...it's a gay bar...but if DT is spinning there I'm going (with a female companion of course)...hey, not very long ago you could only hear good house at the gay/mixed clubs...so is this confirmed for real?
  8. I was there from 9a-12n...the terrace was rocking with a lot more people than on the main floor...I've seen Danny at least 30 times, so for me it was clear that he stopped working after awhile...maybe I came in too late, but it just didn't compare to other times I've seen him at Space or in New York...the vibe was good all around though.
  9. just like Manhattan...Miami Beach is becoming an island of millionaires complaining about all the noise and all the people (all of us!)...I always thought Miami Beach would be America's version of Ibiza...
  10. It's amazing how this country has gone so far to the right since the 60's. Â Can you imagine the response of the general public back then if someone introduced a law threatening club owners simply on the basis that some patrons might be using drugs? Â It's a really sad sign of the times that this kind of legislation appears to be acceptable to the vast majority of sheep that blindly follow the right-wing agenda...which includes censorship and control. Â Imagine a law that implies that people gathering to hear a DJ play is the equivalent of entering a "crack house"...what the fuck is that? Â Of course, it would be hard to get any politician to go against a law whose only base of support are young 16-30 year olds...not the primary voting demographic. Â

    NY cooljinkie sux!

the NY scene sucks??? :oare you insane??? listen to all the shitty music in Miami with it's crap DJ's and even worse crowd...I've lived in both cities and both have positives and negatives...but a blanket statement like "the NY scene sucks" is ridiculous. Every week in NY you can see DJs like Danny Tenaglia, Erick Morillo, Onionz & Joeski, Junior Vasquez, Jonathan Peters, Hector Romero, Satoshie Tomiee, Victor Calderone, Roger Sanchez...and these are just some of the locals!
