1. geez bucca! I think shampoo is cool and transit..but gasoline..hmm..the flyer looks cool though.... anyway... the best name was when i was at psu... "players" that says it all ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
2. yea i hear ya there... they were probably passing along a joint or something... "yo... what should we name the new club... i dunno... fire... gasoline...YEA GASOLINE" ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
3. Just curious as to what everyone classifies stuff as... What is the difference between house, prog house, tech house, trance, prog trance... What dj's do you classify playing what and maybe some song examples?? No bashing....just opinions... ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
4. Please bucca, I love ya and all...but jp does NOT play house music for the most part at all anymore... 145bpm synth dramatic build up music is trance and progressive... It just hurts a lot when people classify that as house because when people ask me what I play and I say house, they say "oh like JP??". Many people love that style and thats totally cool...but frankie knuckles said it best in the new 'dj' magazine... how everyone labels anything thats dance these days as house. What is house?? hmm... that would be a great thread... Transit and the new gasoline are gonna be good though...these people are spending some dinero and booking big name dj's... Then again, shampoo just redid their soundsytem...and space is now motion...hmm.. ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
5. DT and diggers and the "global" sound has been dark..thats the way they are.... The difference is its filtering into the mainstream. I love how people feel everything is "changing" because they discover the underground....interesting... I highly doubt you will hear the commercial dj's go "dark" though... They are governed by the promoters, and promoters want guidos and numbers, and only the fast dramatic ny cheeze pulls in the big numbers. ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
6. Here guys, the Oct 14th opening flyer for Gasoline in philly... They'll probably have something newer as it approaches... This one should have some good quality... -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl [This message has been edited by atf104 (edited 09-25-2000).]
7. oh, its atf104 cholo, but my name is adam...its cool though.. They just built a whole new section onto it...drive by..its still under construction and expected to be done by umm....the 14th!! Anyway, i was never in the 8th street lounge.... so i dont know what to tell you there.. Again, I was wondering what all you philly people would think of a separate philly message board, club pages, guest lists , reviews, interviews etc... is the philly scene big enough and ready for this?? not just another philly2nite..but something like clubnyc... -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
8. I dont know the layout yet or if it will be 18 and over all the time...i know that the main floor is 4000 sq ft and will be the largest place in philly.... Its not meant to be another transit...Transit is supposed to compete with deco, and gasoline is gonna compete with shampoo.. The transit people own gasoline, and the shampoo people own deco, egypt, delilah's...etc.. -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
9. ill have a better quality one up later if you cant make out the fine print.... anyway, what do you guys think of a philly messageboard and separate philly page with club info...etc.. I know there is philly 2nite and all..but we all know they're lame...no messageboard, weak reviews by someone who doesnt know the scene...im talkin ClubPhilly, ClubNYC style! What do you philly people think?? ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
10. Ill be DJing there starting mid october...and at the new gasoline.. ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
11. were you guys at transit when DT was there... Interested in your comparison... Im working for transit so id like to hear your feedback... -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
12. I think its simply the fact that vinyl isnt doing so well... ANd they obviously know this...and they know if the put enough pressure on vinyl, it will shut down. Then they can flood the press with "one crackhouse down, 5 to go..." That kind of bullshit. I think DT should buy it.. -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
13. Damn Johnny, thats deep...did it have 'barbie girl' on it too?? The one with the violins??? ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
14. They keep targeting vinyl because its an easy target. Vinyl isnt geared to making huge amounts of money like the big clubs with the trendy crowds. Its purely for the music people. So without 6 figure door purses, they dont have the political clout that the big boys do. The irony is, most of the problems, drugs, etc. are at the big clubs, mainly because, more people = more drugs. And although some morons say "oh, there must be more drugs there, no licquor license"... Thats totally untrue. They didnt even arrest anyone Friday. There wasnt any obvious problems in sight. Supposedly they found one guy who was fucked up or something. Anyway, I find it ironic, just as Danny Tenaglia is named #1 DJ in the world, his resident club might be in jeapardy. Anyone pick up the new mixmag with him on the cover? He mentioned vinyl in the interview... -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
15. pjay, youre a f*ckin idiot pjay for making a statement like that. They didnt even make any arrests at vinyl. There wasnt even any dealers found. It was pure politics. Sorry but theyd need a bus to haul all the dealers out of sf. ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl [This message has been edited by atf104 (edited 09-24-2000).]
16. Well, unfortunately, vinyl doesnt have the money of the bigger clubs, so thats why its an easy target. Im sure theyd get away with raiding the cracktory and exit and shutting them dow....they cant, too much money involved...a shame too....ironic, just as danny is named the number one dj... -Adam ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
17. Of course I know you...im your father's, brother's, uncle's, former roommate.... ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl

20. Its Obi Wan Kenobi to you... ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
21. Pete is really darth vader, he doesnt tell too many people this.... and mac is Bobafett... they play with each others lightsabers... ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
22. This country is brainwashed into buying into this whole MTV/master marketing plan of hiphop/pop music/rock music (if that even exists aynmore). Kids are brainwashed into believing this scumbags who really live in million dollar houses but talk like theyre from the ghetto are "cool", because they are black and "ghetto". Rap music used to be about expression in the beginning, now its about violence, sex, degradation of women and the downfall of our society. MTV used to play music, now they're a marketing machine. They seek out nobodies, teach them to sing, dance, act, dress (britney, christina a, brandy, nsync, backstreet boys, kid rock, puff daddy, jay z, orgy, etc) and actually FORCE radio stations to play their music, make a video, promote them, and sit back while the stupid sheep (the youth of america) buy into this bullshit. 20 somethings....remember when everyone in school had clicks?? Jocks, nerds, headbangers, druggies, etc.. That was called freedom of expression. Now kids ALL DRESS, ACT, TALK, WALK, AND LISTEN TO the SAME things. "modern rock", hiphip, pop, europop trance, all the same, prefab music. Whatever MTV plays, they buy into. Props to MTV, theyve brainwashed a whole generation, glad im a child of the 80's. OK in done venting on this topic!! . -Adam F HOUSEMUSIC, the true underground ------------------ "Children, come together, in the spirit, OF HOUSE" -Aaron Carl
