Sorry, it is official as most of you know, Laurent Garnier will not be making it to the states this weekend. You can review the reason why at http://www.laurentgarnier.com/. Instead we will be having another great DJ, David Waxman. Also $10 guestlist admission will be honored till 2 AM, and ladies on the list will be free before 11:30 PM.
Details at http://bbs.clubplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=164982 .
And in addition to make it better, we have Pete Tong at Centro-fly on Tuesday for only $5. I'll post up the details soon, or you can checkout www.broidy.com for the details.
Again, I apologize for this inconvenience, I am just as dissapointed about it as you.
Regards,
Broidy

Dress code is casual, so yes you can wear jeans and sneakers, but I would also say don't lool like a bum either. You shouldn't have problems at the door, just don't piss off the doorpeeps or bouncers...

I went there on a business trip about 4 years ago myself. I didn't hit any clubs, but there were a bunch of bars and restaurants in an area called "The Flats"

JAPPY, collegy/fratty bars in NYC - Main Area - Upper East Side and Murray Hill.
A few to name:
Upper East Side (Tin Lizzy), Midtown (Nessa, Opal), Murray Hill (Sutton Place, Joshua Tree,) or Village (Asylum, Bar None, Nevada Smiths).
Not my scene, but I have friends who used to frequent those places.

GBH Fridays at Centro-fly is a great party, and even though I am biased as a promoter/host of the party, I've been going to GBH parties for 4 years already since the Cheetah days. Our 5 year anniversary party is next Friday which is gonna be fantastic as well.
As for Babbo's remark, I'm not sure if he was trying to be witty, nevertheless he failed. I'm not really clear of his his implication of the metrocards unless he was trying to say that anyone who takes the subway sucks...
Everyone else thanks for your support and for your patronage!

I am interested in saturday nights, I like house music, upscale clubs(normal hours).
We want to see the strippers on friday, go dancing on saturday-preferably 2 different clubs.
I was given a list of male strippers in NYC but misplaced them.
Not from the area so I really could use the help!!
Thanks.
Fridays I promote for GBH at Centro-fly, one of the best clubs in NYC and the maybe the US! Party is both house and hip-hop.
And also, I know the perfect show for you that not only has male strippers but drag queens, midgets etc...The Sexy Man Show at Discotheque, PM or email me at promoter@broidy.com and I can get you more info, and let me know when you are coming.

I don't think anyone really has been avoiding clubs cuz of SARS. Chinatown yes, Canada yes, China - YES, clubs....no so much. I think I heard today that they pretty much have it controlled everywhere in the world EXCEPT China...

When I was 18, there were so many parties and clubs to go to that were 18+. Actually now to think of it, it could be b/c back then they barely carded, hell I used to be able to get into clubs with my flimsy NYU ID.
Now those were the good old days!
Good luck to you though!

I went to the Area2 at PNC Arts Center last year, the DJ tent rocked, the most disappointing set IMHO was Moby himself, he sure doesn't perform like he used to years ago...
By the way, if anyone is interested, check out

It is sad that the amazing Laurent Garnier will not be at Centro-fly tomorrow, but we have him re-scheduled for June 6th. Christian Smith is a great DJ as well, I posted the party info in the promotions sections http://bbs.clubplanet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=157341

I'm not a big trance lover now (never was that into it for the matter), but I used to enjoy Dave Ralph years and years ago. I've seen him spin once and he was decent, it wasn't at least cheese trance!

Avalon Was Packed
in New York / New Jersey
Posted
The lines were ridiculous, but no differen't then waiting in lines for Twilo, Palladium, and Limelight in the hay days.
I thought overall it was a success, yes some of the crowd sucked, but for the most part I thought it was a really good vibe, mixed crowd. I only saw one shirtless juicehead walking around, so not too bad. Saw some old clubkids as well.
The sound system sounded on point to me, at least in the main room. Having a DJ in the bathroom was pretty cool.
Biggest complaint I had was the bartender up in the VIP room above the DJ booth ran served me a vodka selter instead of vodka tonic twice. I assumed the fountain ran out of tonic water.
I think Avalon is a pretty good addition to the NYC club scene in its current state, its not the old Limelight, nor should it be. Nothing will be Limelight, nothing will be Twilo, nothing will be Palladium. Remember NYC was a much different city back then as well.
BT next week. and more great DJs to come.
