1. Alright, alright, alright. Tonite is THE nite. That’s right, it is time once again for SugarCoated at - where else? – Sugar. Word's gotten out and you can expect a slammin’ Wednesday nite, full of melodies to sooth your soul and some beats to get yer ass shakin’ (and it will, ohh believe me it will). This Wednesday, August 22 SugarCoated @ Sugar 311 Church St (bet. Walker & Lispenard (1 block south of Canal)) Time - 10:30-? COVER – NO GUESTLIST AND NO COVER! ZERO! ZIP! ZILCH! NOTHING! Music - Valenzi (that’s me FreedomTat Productions) will be providing some nice progressive house sounds for your aural pleasure Like I said before, if you came to the last one, you know what a great party this is. This is a post from one of the many dance music messageboards and believe it or not, I’ve never even met this guy: “We hit [another lounge] only to come back again to Sugar proved to be the correct strategy of the night. The Sugar crowd when we came back at midnight was HOPPIN'! I liked the Slacker remix that was thrown in as everyone went wild with it. That there was actual dancing was my biggest surprise.” So come down to see what all the hub-bub’s about, release some mid-week stress and slip into aural bliss.
2. don't believe everything you read, track
3. I'm an investment banker in the Power & Utilities group for a second tier bank. And I can assure you that unless you want to work with a bunch of 35 year old millionaires, who are under teh delusion that they're some pretty cool people becasue they're so rich AND you enjoy getting treated like complete shit (once I had to take a 6am flight out to South Dakota to deliver documents for a meeting, then I flew straight back to NY, and that's after I pulled an all nighter before I flew out that morning, and to top it all off, I got yelled for a spelling error, somewhere deep in the document that nobody would ever notice anyways) then I would definitley NOT recommend working in any way, shape, or form for any investment bank (I've heard worse stories from other people at other banks). But even after theis brief essay, I can certainly give you some phone numbers and people to talk to if you'd like.
4. Alright so here's the deal. I'm within weeks of quitting my job. I work on Wall Street, so I just got my bonus, which could support me and my lifestyle for 6 months or so. So waht I wanted to know from any of teh promoters/club owners/DJ's out there is if anyone needs an extra hand doing whatever as long as it involves, as clubplanet puts it, the nightlifestyle, for a little extra cash. If you have or know anyone I could talk to, please email me at r_valenzi@hotmail.com. Thanks in advance.
5. Anyone see Oakenfold's comments in New York mag about how he submitted to Guinness Book of World Records an application to be proclaimed the most successful/best DJ in the world? I don't know about everyone else, but that's pretty fucked up in my opinion. Considering EVERY DJ, I've ever read, met, heard of, is as humble as can be. Shit like that goes against everything this culture is built around and I'm willin to bet he alienates a bunch of fans saying shit like that. I'm still going to hear him, but my opinion of the guy has definitely changed fro the worse.
6. I think I'm gonna end up going in August, but I'm flexible enough that I wanna schedule my pilgrimage around the best DJ lineup. I just wanted to know if anyone knew any websites with COMPLETE lineups for ALL the clubs. I found some, but they don't have every club with every lineup. Any help?
7. Did anybody go to this? I thought it was some other schmuck who just took his name. I think it was the real deal though, THE Mr. C of infamous The Shaman rave promoters lore from way back in the day. I just couldn't believe that someone that huge would spin at Saphire Lounge on a freakin Monday nite. So at any rate, how was he?
8. B2B - My point exactly. You can't tell me the Love Parade has no comparison to any type of religous pilgrimage thousands of years ago. That's sounds retarded first off, but think about it for a minute. LOL about the collection boxes - too true!
9. So here's fairly interesting subject that I've never seen put up on this board. What does everyone think about the dance culture values taking the place of more religous values. Basically they're the same. But it seems to me that there's a fairly large number of people out there, including myself, that live by mostly christian morals, but attribute them to their culture and lifestyle, not to traditional religous beliefs. I don't know about everyone else, but I haven't believed in a higher power since I was 15, let alone feel it necessary to live by thousand year old religous values, but since getting involved in the scene I've adopted many of the morals and beliefs that were hammered into me (unsuccessfully) throughout my childhood. So let's sum it up and say that at least in dance culture (which is obviously growing by the minute) are teh roots of those beliefs being taken over from any concept of religion. Whadda ya think?
10. So here's the deal. I'm a bedroom DJ right now and I'm about ready to start getting gigs and wanted some suggestions from all of you who could help. I figured one of the best ways, besides handing out tapes is to start doing promotions part time for networking. The problem is I got no contacts besides the guestlists I'm on. So I know some of you promote part-time and I know some of you also DJ, so if anyone knows any contacts you'd be willing to give out or other ways to break into the industry, please let me know. Thanks in advance
11. Yeah, I kinda figured, but I have a friend who's there right now, and he flew stand-by for $380, called a week before leaving and found a hotel for $100/night. So I just wanted to see if anyone found something that good.
12. OK, I know this is sort of a stupid question. But, does anyone know of any cheap ibiza packages (under $1000) that I can get this late? Didn't think I could go before, but now I can and I'm screwed and EXTREMELY jealous of all going. Help?
13. 21. But... umm he's not spinning. JK, just don't wanna stand in that rediculous line like Armand.
14. I don't even want dignify that question with an answer, but if you really wanna know I'm a goddam investment banker, who hates the pricks he works with and the whole "you are what you do for money" attitude that gives these schmucks the self-confidence they need to wake up in the morning. Besides that, I was really just curious when Evan was at CIBC. I'm there now, and just wondered if you had the same wonderful experience I'm currently enjoying.
15. I was wondering if anyone could help me out. There's a song I've heard Erick Morillo play almost everytime I've gone to the Subliminal Sessions. It goes "I just wanna throw my hands up, I just wanna scream and shout" A friend of mine asked Erick and according to her, it's called "scream & Shout, but I went to find it on vinyl yesterday, and nobody had a listing for it by that title. So anyone out there know this song, the right title, if it's released yet?
