Very true, very good point. Jealousy is exactly why people like you wear overly conspicuous Gucci stuff. Because you are jealous of really rich and classy people so you want something that makes you feel like one, and then you want the associated feeling of superiority over others, which you get by looking down upon someone who is so unfashionable that they can't read a label. Worst part is, I'll bet you were sporting your Gucci shades at some cheesy place like Exit, and still thought you were really cool.
BTW, this is truly the funniest thread I have ever read on this board. njbabe MUST be some kind of impostor trying to cause trouble. I can't believe this person is serious.

Oh please. I shouldn't even respond to this post, but will just to try to help you. Clinton was the most vehemently hated president ever by one-third of the electorate. Now Bush takes over and the opposite third of the electorate vehemently hates him because they think he stole the election. You are doing a mirror image to Bush what the right did to Clinton, and that is to take a guy who seems nice and perfectly acceptable to the average middle american swing voter whether they voted for him or not, and trying to make a demon of him. Don't you remember protestors holding up signs in front of Clinton like "Who killed Vince Foster?" I've read long lists of "coincidental" deaths of people who may have known about all Clinton's scandals, with the worst possible insinuations. This is the exact same mentality that spawned this silly website you put in the link too, only in reverse. The problem you face is, since Bush, like Clinton, seems like a nice guy, you will never get average swing voters to share your outrage and believe that he is a bad person. You will simply undermine your own serious points, as the far right did when Clinton was in office by accusing him of murder, treason, and whatever else. If you really want to do something politically, you should fight to change the public's, (aka middle american swing voters') views about issues you care about. But doing the same thing to Bush as the right did to Clinton will only boost his standing among swing voters in the long run.

I agree. I think this thread is pretty pathetic. Like him or not, advocating murder, even in jest, (and this doesnt have too much of a joking tone when I read it anyway) is pretty sad. Imagine if a group ever advocated killing Clinton. All that you guys would post would be "intolerant right-wing extremist militia taking over country etc." Think about it.

Not to gang up on dolcemimi here, and I really do feel sorry for you for being in this situation, but to me the me the most disturbing thing about this story is it was a blind date. How do you usually get on blind dates? Your friends set you up. Therefore it seems this was done by someone one of your friends set you up with. Great friend that one. Um, I think I agree with the people who posted earlier who recommend you find some new friends.

Lolita is great, but is a bit more commercialised version of Nabokov's style. Try some of his earlier works like "Despair", "Invitation to a Beheading", or "The Luzhin Defense." Or even the later "Pale Fire", which will have you in tears every page it's so funny. I would rate any of these 4 the best book ever, a tie. I think Nabokov was the closest thing to immortality the last century witnessed. I also really like Dostoevsky, Balzac, Zola, and Bulgakov.

I haven't been to see them yet since I've been in New York because I was worried about the crowds and security/cops, but I just might go now because a) Digweed is a better DJ than Sasha IMO and I would really love to hear a long set by him and

I think she meant house with soul and latin grooves, in which case Ill House You's suggestions were perfect. And LL Vega would be perfect for that kind of music as well. He did used to spin at Sound Factory Bar way back when. Anyone know when hes starting up there? Will definitely check it out.

I'm pro-choice, but I want to make one point. As Ralph Nader said during the presidential campaign, abortion will always be legal. Pro-choice has won. I think that the Democratic party tries to keep this issue hot to scare women into voting for them. The fact is, even if republicans controlled everything, including the Supreme Court, abortion would still be legal everywhere. Worst case, if Roe vs. Wade was overturned, it would then be up to the states, and none would actually make it illegal.
I just think this issue gets way too much attention in the news media. It's over, pro-choice won already.

I actually have been thinking about this a lot lately, because I am dating a girl who initiated everything, which is the first time that ever happened to me. I didn't even think I liked her when I first met her, but now I realise I do. I think generally you will get better guys, in the sense of guys who will not be such assholes if you initiate it. If you force guys to chase you, you will get guys who chase girls all the time.
I personally like it when a girl initiates things. It shows real self-confidence and comfort. But I would say the majority of guys would not like it. They would feel threatened. But getting back to the original paragraph, do you want a guy who feels threatened by you? If I was a woman I wouldn't. But that's me.
But really I agree that you should just be yourself and do what you feel.

Damn B2B you beat me to it. I was just going to say, Wink is one of the best producers around, but is mediocre at best as a DJ. He's also incredibly arrogant, and after meeting him once I really personally dislike him. I still buy everything he puts out though. Just got this new remix he did over the weekend. Supernatural by Firefly featuring Ursula Rucker. Cant stop playing it. Super sick. But I wouldnt waste my time going to see him live. And I still love How's Your Evening So Far even after hearing it at least 1000 times.

Definitely. Unless your happy where you currently are, grad school will always help. I'm doing an MBA at Columbia now. It's a lot of work, but better than undergrad.

Sorry, but you are the incorrect one. You cannot be president for more than 2 terms or 10 years in your life. Most governors offices and the New York mayor have the "2 consecutive terms" thing, but for president, not so.
And Ivy League education is rigorous. Gore failed out of Harvard Law School despite being a very well-connected senator's son, so connections alone dont get you the degree apparently.

You tell me the state of the economy in fall 2004 I'll tell you with 90% probability whether he will get reelected. That's what it all hangs on. Gore should have landslided Bush this year with the current state of the economy, he was just a terrible candidate who ran a terrible campaign. Bush is actually a decent campaigner, better than his father, much better than Gore, but certainly no Reagan or Clinton. If the economy in 2004 is the same as in 2000, George Bush will landslide whoever he faces. And vice-versa.

One word answer to the original question- NO!
Don't forget, Greenspan is a Republican and was one of Reagan's top economic advisers before he became Fed Chief. He was appointed by Reagan in 86, reappointed by Bush once then by Clinton twice. Current term runs to 2004 when he will probably retire as he's already in his late 70s and is starting to look it.
Guys, whoever you voted for, it doesn't matter, the country will not change a whole lot either way. I voted Bush because I hate Gore, but I think the country would have been ok under Gore too, just better under Bush.

Yeah, I hear Cancun has some of the best prisons to spend a couple of years in in the world. A few of them even have toilets, and the guards have a lot of sympathy for rich American prisoners, so they would never beat you, oh no.
