  1. is this supposed to be a girl dj thing? im only going if you play in drag.
  2. thats gonna be a busy weekend......sims friday, barb/saunderson saturday, then barbara @ tronic again monday. dunno if my wallet will be able to handle that.....
  3. happy birthday melissa! :bday: :clap2:
  4. how can the doorman take orders from your gfs mom? is the mom the landlord like she owns the apt and your gf just lives there or is the mom the one on the lease and she pays your gfs rent? either way if that happened to me the first thing i'd do is call 911 and have the cops come over have a word with the doorman....i'd guarantee he'd let you come in to get your stuff, unless your gf isnt home or something like that. as far as being able to stay there, i highly doubt any of this established residence shit will stick....specially if you've been basically mooching off the gf by staying there and not paying rent....they can kick you out anytime they want, there's no obligation to let you stay there if your name isnt on the lease and you're not paying rent.
  5. not as far as VINs go, but what i meant was some oem or aftermarket parts will have a unique manufacturer serial number either etched or on a sticker on the part......not if it came with the car but if you bought it later....if you kept the box there might be a unique serial number outside that matches a sticker on the part. specially for expensive parts like stereos and HID lights....a little side blinker probably wont have it.
  6. easton ave? that's nuts. what's next? drive by shootings at the grease trucks? there is however some serious ghetto when you go past french like towards commercial ave. my friend used to live by the end of seaman st. and i'd be damned if i parked my car on his street.
  7. im not talking about the VIN number that's on parts of the chassis. many headlights have a manufacturer's serial number on them that matches that on the box if you bought oem or aftermarket ie: didnt get it with the car.
  8. wow they got down to florida pretty quick of course one way to find out is to buy them and see if the serial number matches....sometimes its possible. a friend of mine had a $3000 keyboard stolen after a live gig. first thing he did was start checking out ebay and have people check out the area stores and classifieds. lo and behold it ended up on ebay.....the serial number matched, and they nabbed the guy.
  9. the electronic music scene was dead way before any of these laws were passed. shitty djs and lack of people coming to events is what killed it.
  10. actually i think colin quinn sucks for the most part, but what makes me watch the show is the fact that his guests are all anywhere from 10 to 100 times funnier than he is.
  11. there's nothing to worry about....the law states that only those who profit from it will be fined and imprisoned. given the fact that raves are dead and no one ever profits from them anymore...no one will get arrested
  12. how can you get cell phone service legally without paying a monthly bill?
  13. i think this just about summarizes it....used to be a real fun place, mixed crowd. now its cracked out candyland....at least the last 3 times or so i've been there....i'd go for maybe one headliner, because everyone else was wack rave djs.
  14. w3rd up son. i got a place, legit ids, you'll have to drive out to newark but its all good. call them at (973) 792-3000 and tell them michael alfonso sent ya. piece out bro.
  15. there is a strict dresscode....according to the flyer here is more or less what you should dress like:
  16. the SIM card only contains info pertinent to your account NOT to your phone. your phone contains a unique serial number that can be queried by the phone company at any time. you can switch the SIM card and that number stays the same. whether nextel is currently checking for this or not i have no idea, but i know for a fact many phone companies in europe are doing this and catching people that way. maybe people are getting away with this now....but who knows when nextel will start cracking down if they haven't already. is 100 bucks really worth the risk of getting slammed with an insurance fraud charge? if you think so, then go right ahead.....
  17. that would be a dumb move. this phone only works with nextel, so if you report it stolen, you'd still have to register it with a nextel account. thing is, every phone has a unique ID (IMEI) and when you report it stolen, that IMEI gets flagged as stolen, so if you try to activate the "stolen" phone, nextel will know. as for the original post, $250 for a used phone that can be bought for $99 w/ activation sounds like a pretty big ripoff to me.
  18. holy shit rob what you just won the fucking lottery? that's like 3 grand worth of shit right there.
  19. its only the distributor that faces a fine, not the consumer. plus, if you buy from an international distributor there's nothing they can do about it short of confiscating your package, which rarely happens since they can't inspect every package that comes into the country. this law is basically to shut down indian reservations based in new york state from selling over the net. it wont affect anything.
  20. i think these accounts can sometimes be quite exaggerated. if you're going there just to get drunk and have casual sex, may i recommend a place featured on "girls gone wild" instead....its a lot cheaper and people there are "wild" or something (ie: drunk frat boys going "wooo hooo" , groping you non-stop) most of this talk about easy sex etc comes from foreign guys who go down there and party at the whorehouses or "puteiros" as they call them...there are specific clubs you go to (one of them being "help" in copacabana) where every woman inside is a prostitute and every guy is a foreigner...it actually costs more for women to get in at some of these places. i think it's definitely worth spending carnaval in rio once just for the experience, to do something different than the usual spring break crap people do here. i wouldnt go to sao paulo unless you have a ton of friends there....nightlife is great but not much beautiful scenery....in terms of vibe think sao paulo = new york, rio = miami/south beach. you have to know what to expect...some love it, others hate it....many people here are more or less on point....couple of things: language barrier - in general people on the street dont speak english. service industry people and more affluent people at clubs, bars generally do, and will be very friendly in trying to speak with you. people are generally friendly to foreigners there (unlike here). one thing to watch out for in rio though, its known in brazil for being the land of the "malandros" or hustlers/con-artists....so dont be swayed by people being overly friendly to you because very bad things can happen that way (had it happen to friends in the past). crime in rio can be a problem. couple of things: -try to stay on the beach (ipanema, and the side of copa next to ipanema...other beaches can be sketchy for foreigners) dont walk too far into town. -dont walk around wearing expensive jewelry or with a lot of money on you. -if you go out at night, try to have the hotel arrange for transportation (either they'll have their own or call a cab)....try not to flag cabs down the street....call in advance. there have been cases of people stealings cabs then driving around robbing would-be customers. as for where to stay, the best would definitely be a hotel in ipanema right on the beach instead of 1+ blocks into town....but be ready to pay up the ass for it....carnival is tourist time and prices double/triple. i'd recommend booking 6 months in advance. the best hotel in ipa is caesar park, very very ritzy but a room there will be around $300 a night probably if not more. guess that's about it....PM me if you have any questions....i usually go to rio about once a year so i know my way around there quite well.
  21. brazil has the highest HIV rate in the world? that's one of the stupidest things i've ever seen anyone post on this board (and that says a lot, after all this IS clubplanet) The World Factbook. 2002. HIV/AIDS — adult prevalence rate This entry gives an estimate of the percentage of adults (aged 15-49) living with HIV/AIDS. The adult prevalence rate is calculated by dividing the estimated number of adults living with HIV/AIDS at yearend by the total adult population at yearend. here's a sample: Brazil 0.57% (1999 est.) Burundi 11.32% (1999 est.) Central African Republic 13.84% (1999 est.) France 0.44% (1999 est.) Kenya 13.5% (2001 est.) Lesotho 23.57% (1999 est.) Namibia 19.54% (1999 est.) Portugal 0.74% (1999 est.) South Africa 19.94% (2000 est.) Spain 0.58% (1999 est.) Switzerland 0.46% (1999 est.) United States 0.61% (1999 est.) Zambia 19.95% (1999 est.) Zimbabwe 25.06% (1999 est.) looks like the U.S. has a higher rate than brazil.
  22. cleveland sucks. been there a few times. try the pb-cle list: http://hyperreal.org/raves/pb-cle/ maybe they'll have something under the weeklies or rave calendar. if there's nothing, sign up to the email list and post a msg asking what's going on there that week.
  23. i'd be VERY wary of doing business with a company that does not clearly provide its own address and phone number on its website..... shady.
