1. sorry, I just happen to hate them. I actually find them visually offensive. I try not to let that reflect on the people who wear them. I have very good friends who do, but I don't hesitate to tell them that their pants are fucking ugly.
2. yo reef! UFO's are the butt-fucking ugliest version of phat pants ever envisioned and worn by the 'bad-ass' raver types. They're most often worn with cuff strings tightened and pulled up real high on the calves so you look like some sort of alladin style idiot, and the cargo pockets have these strings in them which are supposed to let you turn your pants into a knapsack, but most often are just left hanging out making people look even more fucking idiotic. You wouldn't have seen any of these styles NYE. I know, I looked. later bro.
3. I'm gone home for the holidays. Hope everyone here has a great Christmas, Chanukah (sp?) or whatever seasonal celebration turns your crank Have a safe and happy New Year's and I'll see y'all in the REAL new millenium. spoony out
4. All I gotta say is anyone who says: Clearly knows nothing. If you want me to back that up I will. The only thing that "boggles" my mind is the cahones it takes to type such crap.
5. looking for records? breakdown by store the way I see it... (if you need addy's I can find them - but all are more or less in the east village). Breakbeat Science - best for jungle/dnb (best jungle in the city) Throb - best for German Trance / Goa Psy (best trance in the city IMHO) Decadance - best for NY Hard House (Cheese club trance) techno, tribal, junior beats Eightball - like Deca, but with better trance, better european selection, good white labels Temple - best for House, deep and techy (best house in the city) Dance Tracks - GARAGE BABY! Satellite - the have just about everything if you can find it. Best for euro and american house and breaks... good to great for everything else. There are a few others, but these are the major players in this neighborhood.
6. I'd love to go just to check out the oldskool room, but it's a schoolnight, But also I've kinda lost faith in raves and rave promoters in this city. If you guys go, could you give me an honest opinion of what it was like? How many dj's actually showed? What the crowd is like (cracked out / clean / thugs)? Any vibe to speak of? I'd like to give this town another chance but I've been burned too often.
7. sorry, just saw the link.... as you were.
8. Industry has closed it's doors sorry to say. but anyway... lessee... what to do in the tdot.. well, I'll be at the Groove Odessey Rave - I think it may be the place to be... Anthony Pappa is playing System Sound Bar, Uhm don't know who's at Turbo or at the Guvernment... but those are the four main things you may want to check out. For the lowdown goto: www.tribe.ca/rant and see the upcoming events forum... everything should be listed there. If you decide to go to the groove thing, lemme know, we can have a little CNYC meetup in Toronto... I know Gonzojournalist is thinking of going too. lemme know if you have any other q's d
9. gonzo, baby... why didn't you just ask, you know that's my home turf. The destiny massives is alright. As a matter of fact, I'll be at the massive this year (getting tickets this week)... I'll also be at the Ascension party on the Friday (Jon the Dentist)... these are all desity throwdowns. Expect a huge space (Better Living Center @ the CNE)... three rooms - house / trance / jungle... and the true rave experience. If you're a junglist in the least bit - you'll be in heaven. Toronto's jungle scene is unmatched in North America and with the Vinyl Syndicate as locals... it's always a treat. The trance should be killer too (Commander Tom + company). One warning, Toronto has a kiddie friendly scene, so the age mix will be 16 and up and kandy kids everywhere (I can't wait!). Anyway, I leave for home this thursday... if you want to come up for the party, drop me a pm or an e-mail (get it from Tom if you need). I still have a place in Tdot so you're welcome to crash. lemme know
10. Do me a favour people and have a go at this web site: http://www.ishkur.com/menu/lifestyle/guide.htm maybe then I won't have to read people referring to Mauro Picotto as "HARD HARD HOUSE"
11. I can't properly express in words how important Saturday night was for me. I strongly believe that we may have experienced one of the most important nights in Twilo's existence. This city needs a fucking wake up call. People here need to get off their musical high horse and notice that the rest of the world is years ahead of them (and having way more fun)
12. frankie... drop me an e-mail I have a little offer to make you if you're interested. elvis-the-king@brainwavetoys.com listening to mix now - will report back later.
13. cooler than words what you need though is the neon lights on the underside of your bug. that'll put you over the top
14. look for a double CD set called - drum & bass muzik classics. It's old but definitively drum & bass - listening to it is like a little music history lesson. g'luck
15. heh, you gotta come by the Leopard Lounge for one of our Leisure Society parties. Looks like it'd be right up your alley. that is a nice portion of my playlist. next one is Jan 27 - come by.
16. I was at a loft party on Friday - Pre-Twilo that kicked some serious deep house ass. I'm really getting into good deep house. It's a funny genre. For me, when I listen to it at low volumes, it sounds so loungy and like it has no energy. But when you get it on a honking system... it just packs a whollop. I never knew how much I could like it until I heard in in the right setting.
17. Okay, I've looked everywhere, thought I'd try here. I am in desperate need of the the track: Temple of Dreams, by Messiah (on vinyl). Help! anyone?
18. hmmm, did I smell a little chicago? you cheeky monkey
19. nice frankie v.nice
20. heh, That could be 1 of 1000 Nu-NRG tracks. They're all starting to sound the same. Nu-NRG and UK Hardhouse are starting to get a little stale I think... Funny how they're just starting to hit NY now. whatever... sorry I couldn't help. FYI, if you're a Jon the Dentist fan, he has a i-radio show on www.1groove.com check it out. 1groove has to be the most respectable internet radio station out there for the rave sounds. They also have an all Nu-NRG/UK Hardhouse show that you might like too.
