  1. And you all want to vote for Bush and his army of pro-censorship right-ist religious fanatics - it will get worse, not better.
  2. I feel your pain. Prior to now, I'd never had a serious relationship, either. It started to seem like there was absolutely no woman in Miami for me. All the false starts I had similar to the one you just experienced were like knives to the gut. Then a bolt from the blue. I haven't even been out with her a year yet, but I've already eclipsed the duration of my past "relationships" by a staggering 900% (you do the math). Really, all you can do is wait for that bolt from the blue. It's absolutely sickening just how few true quality women there are in Miami. All you can do is shrug your shoulders, and wait - either that, or move to a place where the women actually know the meaning of the word "humility." And by all means, next time, do not call her, no matter how much you want to hear her voice. Sure, it'd be nice if women initially reciprocated your feelings for them, but typically.....they don't. By the way, no offense meant to the board women. I know there are some decent women around this town, I'm just saying that they are few and far between - and usually already taken....
  3. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works V2 although, the damned loud office A/C just came on and is drowning it out...
  4. I can't believe there are this many Bush voters here - you guys say you like clubbing, well, if it was up to Bush and his religious fanatic cronies, there wouldn't BE any clubs. I can't believe there are so many people on a message board like this, who have no problem with an administration that continually attempts to legislate "morality"....
  5. Where have I been hiding? I think it's called "having a girlfriend."
  6. Oft-forgotten classic from the Joshua Tree - nice.
  7. Hey man - I remember you, too. I gotta come by here more often. The Four Tet album is probably a good representation of "where I'm at" now - I am enjoying the whole folksy/glitchy/clicky techno thing. And indie rock, too - it's just that while I can rattle off a bunch of indie rock tracks I'm currently enjoying, the albums themselves are often lacking. Seems like it's often 2-3 tracks where it all comes together, and the rest of the CD is the musical equivalent of dog food. Definitely check out the Denali CD - I don't know who I would use as a reference point...I think the singer sounds a bit like Beth Gibbons, but that's open to interpretation. Anyway, it's on the Jade Tree label.
  8. James! Good to see you around here again - that tracklisting looked good. Interesting that you would write about being bored with dance music, because I feel the same way. I've been feeling it for a while, but I always thought my interest in dance music would come back. It really hasn't. I don't much listen to any of those old CDs I used to be so excited about anymore, and I'm certainly not interested in hitting a club to see so-and-so DJ. It sounds to me that you're just interested in good old-fashioned tunes. I agree with you about preferring the concept of an "album," but sadly, there aren't too many great albums anymore. I don't think there will ever be more GREAT ALBUMS like Dark Side of the Moon, Disintegration, Music For The Masses, Siamese Dream, OK Computer and other old albums of that caliber. It also feels to me that I've "heard everything before," and I hate that feeling. I always want to hear something new, groundbreaking and amazing, and it's just not happening. There are enjoyable albums - I am very much enjoying Four Tet - Rounds and Denali - The Instinct, for example - and I still enjoy the odd night out at PopLife - but unfortunately, music just doesn't move me the way it once did. Perhaps I expect too much out of music, or maybe it's just a by-product of getting older..
  9. Looking good......the Norv Turner offense looks inventive and unpredictable. I can't believe it, but I'm actually getting excited about watching the Dolphins offense again.......after almost 7 years of total drudgery it's about time!
  10. It's networking. Her music "career," such as it is, is flagging fast. I actually wish no one would buy her stuff. First of all, she has no talent as a musician, what makes anyone think she'd have any talent in pornography either? Second, I'd love to see Britney end up penniless and back in Louisiana living with her parents in a trailer park. She doesn't deserve everything she's had. Has there ever been anyone else in the world to make it SO FAR merely on a god damned pair of tits, and nothing else? Doesn't that piss anyone off? It pisses me off.

It's too bad........G 'n R was really a great band.......once. In high school I couldn't get enough of the Use Your Illusion albums. And they still sound good when I pull them out to listen. There is one track, "Estranged," that really blows me away still........
  12. Out of those I'd probably go for Interpol - it's nice and cheap so you don't feel like you wasted a ton of money if you bought it and didn't like it. Off the topic, this is what record companies should do if they want to move more units and blunt the effect of downloading and burning.......lower the prices of the damned CDs! CD prices are way too expensive........no single CD should cost over $10.......doesn't take a genius to figure this one out. People will buy if the record companies make it more attractive to buy........
  13. I was a trumpet player. You guys weren't bad at all.......I just wished they'd vary the cadence a little. I can't believe they are STILL playing the same moldy old cadences......hell the one they play had been around a few years already even in 1992! I wonder if there's anyone well-versed in electronic music, breakbeats, etc, in marching bands.........seems to me people should be coming up with some bad-ass cadences. But I haven't heard any. Oh well, that's one thing FAMU band will probably give me Saturday, some beats that actually make you want to move. Damn, why haven't marching bands been mining the world of breakbeats yet? I could think of some real kick ass stuff potentially being built around some simple breakbeats..........
  14. Yeah, it's as if child abductions represent a new phenomenon or something. It's unfortunate that it continues to happen but what can you do? That kind of thing's been going on for ages, and will likely continue to do so..
  15. Good call on the Mushroom Jazz. What's Greyboy, I've not heard of it. On my last trip to the record store a few days ago, I picked up: Bis - "Return To Central" some Scottish electro-pop I was interested in hearing Le Tigre - "Feminist Sweepstakes" Kathleen Hanna just kicks ass....... Sleater-Kinney - "One Beat" yeah, I'm on the grrrl rock tip a bit lately. But this is just a great rock album. I haven't heard anything rock quite this hard in a long time. It's got a ton of energy, and the lyrics are intelligent and have some bite to them. Interpol - "Turn On The Bright Lights" I can't tout this album enough. Great indie rock album with some atmosphere to it, in a Joy Division vein.......and it costs only $9.99
