  4. here's the SUNDAY RINSE in ASBURY PARK Unless you spend lots of time under a rock, you have heard about the renaissance happening in Asbury Park, New Jersey. There is a groundswell of renovation that is a strong sign of the good things things to come. Enter Harry's Roadhouse, the product of the forward vision of John Dorrian, an entrepreneur with successful ventures in both Miami (Rebar) and New York (Rebar and Suite 16). This venue is a full-service entertainment and dining facility, with large seating capacity, a big dancefloor, stage, and a 40,000 watt soundsystem to power it. The ambiance of Harry's is the perfect setting for a party as unique as the location: the Sunday Rinse. It is a place to shake off the remnants of your weekend through dance and good vibrations. The music is, in a word, HOUSE. Not the kind of 'progressive house' music that you hear on commercial radio, but deep, sexy and sophisticated house music. Add to that a sprinkling of sparkling classic disco, and we have us a tasty event. And, hopefully, the start of a new community within Asbury Park. The emphasis is not on pretense or drama, but on positive energy. It is a place to celebrate diversity and freedom and to truly be who you are. In addition to the music, there will be live percussion on stage, live performances and exhibits by local artists. In the tradition of Sunday tea dances, it is going to start at 5pm and swerve on up until midnight (now 'til 2!!!). There will be great food available as well as fabulous drink specials. Come sit down for dinner then dance it off! The music will be provided by Adam Kenter (aka DJ Aqua). He's resident DJ at MIX in Long Branch, New Jersey, and brings with him years of experience both locally and in NYC. "It's the perfect place for the perfect party", he says. "I want to create a place where people feel comfortable and welcome. Sometimes clubs are more focused on their dress code than they are on their vibe. This party's all about the vibe." For a quick view of Adam's DJ credentials, check out www.djaqua.djcentral.com In addition to Adam on the turntables, he will be bringing in a host of local and national talents to the DJ booth to get down. "I want to keep it interesting. It's going to be deep. Latin-tinged. Soulful. Vocals. Stuff you can't hear anywhere else in New Jersey." The launch party is on December 22. Be part of the movement. Location: Harry's Roadhouse, Cookman Ave, Asbury Park, NJ. 1 block off of Main St. For directions, go to www.mapquest.com <http://www.mapquest.com> . For more information, contact Adam at djaquausa@hotmail.com, or call 732.859.1827

  9. bottom line: the dj is there to rock the party, which means giving the people what they want. but there's a fine line between being an ARTIST who caters to the crowd while upholding their own musical mission, and being a human jukebox. it's tough to draw that line sometimes. no wonder DJ booths are often 20 feet above the floor!
  10. that was, without a doubt, the most eloquent and profound post that i've seen on this crap-laden board. nice work, and i completely agree with your take on the louie devito situation. i play deep house in a lounge near the beach. people come in there, hear the 4/4 kick drum, decide it's "techno", and ask me if i have the nyc underground cd to put on. when i say that it's NOT my style, they look at me like i have 3 heads. then they ask me if i have any house music. it can be sad around here sometimes.
  11. for those 6 people who downloaded the flyer art and got a big psychedelic blob, I reloaded the link w/ the proper file. check it now! a
  12. i know there were some meatheads on this board, but this is a bit much.
  13. Vinyl had a similar poster on the wall next to the booth. It was cool at body & soul 'cuz they would leave the door open to the booth... and everyone there was so cool with it that if you had an important enought question, they would gladly answer. it's all about respect.
  14. "Hey, do you mind if I look through your records???" How should we handle this? #1: It's annoying #2: They're now in the way. Anyone else ever get that?
  15. during the first 3 weeks of the party there will be no cover charge! we will be compiling a mailing list that will entitle you to a membership card that is good for free admission to this event in the future. it's promising to be a great event, so NO ONE WHO LOVES HOUSE MUSIC SHOULD MISS IT!!!!

  17. i'm all about peace and love, my brothers. this thread was started in response to acclub's very ignorant post in my thread "New Sunday Party..." it was all tongue-in-cheek, but got misread. and check out my profile on djcentral.com: www.djaqua.djcentral.com this will clue you in as to where i've been and where i'm going. how about we all try to be friends instead of competing? what the hell are we competing for, anyway? don't we all want to have FUN???
  18. just bringing myself down to your level so that you see how stupid it sounds to use such lingo in a public forum like this. think before you type. using racial slurs can get a lot of people very pissed off, very quickly.
  19. check out his reply to my post, "New Sunday Party...". let him know what you think of his attitude.
  20. and me and my friends will kick your lily-white ass. so beat it, cracker.
  21. moolies? are you serious? and this comes from someone who touts atlantic city as heaven on earth? please, keep your ignorant, backward-thinking comments to yourself. it's people like you who i DON'T want at my event. so beat it.
  22. so we all agree that this area need some good REAL house music over some big speakers, right? well, this will definitely be the place. have dinner, drinks, then dance it off! can't beat it. besides, the venue is DOPE. gotta check it out. a
  23. Did we forget that there was House waaaay before somebody decided to call it progressive?
