  1. <-------- columbia. in here. no need to roll the eyes. ------------------ "Happy the man, and happy he alone, he who can call today his own, he who, secure within, can say, 'Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have liv'd today'." - Horace "Be excellent to each other." - Rufus "Para no morir, tiene que bailar." - Ricky Martin
  2. woah, ichi - you took me the wrong way. by no means do i mean to say that mexican spanish is the same dialect as castillian spanish or any other regionalized dialect - but trust me on this one - "para no morir, tiene que bailar" means the same thing no matter what spanish speaking country you go to. i totally agree with all your points - but on this one me and my ten years of spanish study (domestic and abroad) are pretty sure. ~ ------------------ "Happy the man, and happy he alone, he who can call today his own, he who, secure within, can say, 'Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have liv'd today'." - Horace "Be excellent to each other." - Rufus "Para no morir, tiene que bailar." - Ricky Martin
  3. no no no... i just can't leave this alone. btw, yes ricky is mexican, and the language spoken in mexico is spanish. the quote literally means, "In order not to die, one must dance." means the same thing in mexico as it does in spain and guatemala and ecuador and argentina and puerto rico... all spanish-speaking countries. sorry for making an easy argument complicated - all that i was trying to do was explore both perspectives - sorry - views. see, underlying blueangel's off-point chastisement of roadrunner is this snide little statement that "Porn is disgusting, you shouldn't watch porn, people should be happy with their bodies." it's in there, trust me. and so i objected, because neither roadrunner or i ever said porn was normal. never. ever. i'll say it again. i never said porn was normal or what one would expect to see. i did say that we are conditioned in some ways by porn, some people to a greater degree than others. so my only argument in that respect was that blueangel interpreted what roadrunner said wrong, like she tends to do every time she gets heated. look at some of her other replies. you'll notice that sort of a current throughout. in the process, i was accomplishing a second goal - defending roadrunner's statement about an aesthetic ideal. sorry if the words are too big, but that's what you get, it's the only way i know how to write. i, again, apologize for complicating the argument, although no apology should be necessary - it's you who ignorantly bashes because you don't understand, instead of bashing logically, which i would love. and i have no clue what that last part of your message means (starting with "anyway enough"). you like the sound of your own voice? that's a little pompous. maybe you meant i like the sound of my own voice. only i'm typing. anyway, please try to express yourself in coherent english sentences or something, it's really hard to figure out sometimes yet you still say that you express things more clearly. thanks. back from dinner in a few~ ------------------ "Happy the man, and happy he alone, he who can call today his own, he who, secure within, can say, 'Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have liv'd today'." - Horace "Be excellent to each other." - Rufus "Para no morir, tiene que bailar." - Ricky Martin
  4. i agree in general - yes they're not the most attractive people, but aren't the important parts closer to an ideal? i mean obviously there's appeal in the action of the movie ("what they're doing"), but all the men are pretty well-endowed... just something to think about.
  5. i'll leave all the dumb one-liners alone. just wondering if you know spanish, by the way (i figure you must) - i thought that of all my quotes the ricky martin one would be the quote that would strike a chord with everyone here. oh well. that's pretty depressing. getting to other business - i never said porn is real. please reread. i said porn sets up an aesthetic ideal - like you said, a fantasy. for it to be a fantasy it has to be aesthetically pleasing - otherwise it would be called a nightmare or whatever the opposite of fantasy is. also note that i never said people actually THINK penises in general are of the girth and length that are typically found in porn. that's why porn actors are porn actors - they are well-endowed. however, i did say that typically in a relationship one will experience a departure from that "fantasy" or that aesthetic ideal. which is to say, you're actually 100% wrong in your interpretation of my remarks. please reread. also note that my remarks were intended more to point out the way others (and one person in particular) ride around on their "high horses." please consider me the imp that slashes the legs of the horse so its rider tumbles to the ground, instead of a rider of a high horse myself. also, finally - and i just couldn't leave it alone - i am the absolute LAST person who would ever take offense to the ricky martin "gay" joke. it served your purpose well, and so i applaud its usage. but you better watch your back. blueangel is around here somewhere...
  6. if it helps, try denver.citysearch.com. incidentally they ranked the church one of the top clubs in the city (if not the top one - can't remember now). ~~ ------------------ "Happy the man, and happy he alone, he who can call today his own, he who, secure within, can say, 'Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have liv'd today'." - Horace "Be excellent to each other." - Rufus "Para no morir, tiene que bailar." - Ricky Martin
  7. ha. again you misconstrue. and again it pisses me off. i believe roadrunner is arguing the aesthetic of the "cut" penis versus the "uncut" penis. unfortunately, i didn't realize until Mario's post that a hard uncut is virtually identical in appearance to a hard cut. so in that sense, yes, roadrunner may be wrong. i don't know for sure. but look at what you're doing, for christ's sake. you don't even allow consideration of any topic (never mind an actual opinion) that is slightly non-PC, even if it's for a logical, intellectual argument. and you can go ahead and misconstrue that too, but we're using logic here, and roadrunner is the only one who seems to see that. you just keep taking what people say out of context, and using their statements against them. roadrunner made no implicit or explicit promotion for porn, he was just using porn as an aesthetic because it levels the playing field. (most people have seen porn and thus are familiar with the depiction of male and female genitalia as it pertains to pornographic material.) and since people PAY for porn (yes, it does happen), they must like the way that male and female genitalia is portrayed in such films. so yes, in aesthetic terms, porn is not necessarily NORMAL (in terms of what you might see if you pulled down your next-door neighbors pants), but that wasn't what he was arguing. porn is, to those who buy it, and i would assume to even those who don't buy it, a film genre to which, watching alone, we would not be opposed. thus it applies to our own lives: we are conditioned to expect a certain something when we go south, and if that certain something looks somewhat different than we expect, who's going to say, "Oh my god, that's the best looking ____ i've ever seen?"... because what appeals to the human eye and mind is a continuation of an aesthetic and not a digression, and this applies to genitalia just like it applies to the body as a whole. just think with your head sometimes. consider what people say and don't jump at those "red-flag" words. you want to know what's really PC? accepting that as much as you may hate to admit it, other people may have a point too. and it's your duty as self-appointed torchbearer for the PC parade to allow everyone to make those points, which i think roadrunner did well (notwithstanding his slip, it it really was a slip, about a hard cut penis looking different than a hard uncut one). thanks. logan.~ ------------------ "Happy the man, and happy he alone, he who can call today his own, he who, secure within, can say, 'Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have liv'd today'." - Horace "Be excellent to each other." - Rufus "Para no morir, tiene que bailar." - Ricky Martin
  8. ha. refer to my post from yesterday. maybe i'll bump it. if i can find it. 3000 posts = a lot. 3000 posts = someone who loves to go shake it fast. 3000 posts = someone who thinks that because they have posted a lot and because they love to shake that ass they can be intolerant. and stupid. witness all the replies you got to this post. and get this - somebody posts this same question... "why do people post here so much" (or some derivative thereof) EVERY DAY. and EVERY DAY seven people flame on...
