FKNG A Weyes! I so agree with you, I love Spundae because it has better vibe, but more often than not Avaland has the best music. I would rather be somewhere the crowd is cool and the music so,so...than a place where the music is great and the people are fake...

i hate avaland, but i hate the fact that they get all the djs i want to see even more. ever since spundae first left circus, things have gone downhill, for me. the crowd i love is still at spundae, but the music is usually at avaland. i don't go to see some of my favorite djs just because they're at avaland. people often say that one shouldn't let a crowd spoil one's fun on the dancefloor, but the clientele there is so despicable to me that i just can't enjoy myself. i'm hoping that things will settle down at some point and that the hollywood phonies will leave, allowing some room for the music-lovers.

Ray Mack, Jethro, & I are hosting the loft @ Spundae LA as "The Awesomators" on July 2nd 2005. We play from 9 PM to 4 AM PST. If you don't already have plans you should come out. 1. living in la is great. i love it here. but i'd rather live in miami.
2. i love the weather and the ocean. we have great restaurants, fun clubs, good bars, lots of good shows to hit, etc.
3. the traffic is brutal
4. i moved to la in jr high. i've lived out of la twice as an adult, but i missed it too much (family, friends) and the business i'm in is based here, ny or nashville. of those three, i pick la for sure.
5. advice? don't believe all of the negative stuff you hear about people in la. there are great people here, you just have to find them. oh and try to live close to work.
what business do you work in now? are you looking for a change? as for me, i work in the music business. it's brutal.
there are a ton of apartments, but the rent is really getting nuts!
there's tons to do - hiking, biking, the beach, skiing/snowboarding in the winter, great museums to visit, lots of good restaurants, etc

djs are particularly known for being unattractive, and i think a lot of it has to do with the working conditions. their sick, pale look must come from sleeping during the day, their lack of sleep in general, and how much time they spend in humid, dark basements with cigarette smoke all around (in some regions of the country and most of the world).
then there's the group of hot girl djs, but they tend to not be any good. people say the argument there is that they don't have to be; that's not their purpose (this does not apply to dj rap).
but we have our dj crushes anyway, even if they look like little rodents. it's how these guys present themselves that draws me to them. my roommate, for instance, hates it when djs don't get jumpy/dancey/smiley behind the decks. he requires serious interaction with the audience, or he feels snubbed. i acknowledge that some people need to concentrate more.
anyway, i'm still warm and fuzzy about the scumfrog ... what about you all?

Disagree with L.ALate on Friday at Forbidden City, it really has an awful crowd, i can tell ya, as I am walking by that club from my house, each and every Friday on my way to Spider/Ivar/Nacional.
Good places, as above mentioned, Vine Street Lounge is great, Spider is hot on wednesday, not sure when L.A.Late suposedly went, as I would have seen him there(Not a big club and I am at the door there a lot to make sure my guests will get in fast)
Friday, Prey is hot and the club looks really nice
Saturday, yeah, agree, Cinespace is packed, but come early, have some drinks and enjoy the night, nothing wrong with that.

Basque, is the old Deep, but they done a good job remodeling
Cafe Montematre is my favorite now spot in town, it is located right off Hollywood/Highland ON Hollywood blvd, what makes this place so special to me is that I love Hollywood, especially old Hollywood and Cafe Montematre is located in a 1920's building that originally was home to Hollywood's first nightclub.
They did a good job with the space, while the front is very modern, the back is all old brick walls. After Memorial Day, I will do a Thursday Night there, so e-mail me for hook ups!
Element is basically the old Club Blue, but they redone the patio and put some money into some new couches and furniture, looks nice, if you like to check it out, May 7 I will co host a party there, again, just e-mail me
Escape is the "right side" part of the old Sunset Room(the other side will become a Steakhouse), unique about Escape is that they will have a pool there, palm trees and I might will host a Summer Sunday House Music Afternoon Party, of course I will keep you all posted....
Muse , another new club, right on Hollywood Blvd, the inside is beautiful and any spot that replaces a T-Shirt Shop on Hollywood is a welcome sign in my book
Ivar will change into two clubs, details are scetchy right now, but it should be interesting to see what will happen with it
Shelter will close soon to become SMACK(I dont name these places, lol), expect a million $ make over, should be interesting
