  2. good call, rothko. hey, i didn't know you were oldschool...
  3. you're correct about trainspotting, and i think you're onto something with trainwrecks, too, although i just thought it was called that because that's what it sounds like when the beats clash
  4. one i know about is Danny Tenaglia will be at 1015 Folsom for Release--supposed to be a 12 hour set and great opening dj's, too.

wuz goin on, D? i sent you an email about a friend who is starting up a downtempo night and looking for dj's. any interest? if so, send me an email...
  6. i'm in, too. not sure when we're getting there, but should be there by around 11 or so.
  7. oldskook, BAH, who needs 'em;) raquel, it was great seeing you at danny howells!
  8. i have some questions for you--when you started, did you get a lot of skin tingles? did it make you really f'd up, compared to just one hit of e? at the tail end, did you notice that you were tripping at all? did you have any stomach trouble?
  9. LSD, like any other party drugs has negative indications that can be severe in certain people based on their body chemistry. if not, it wouldn't be schedule 1. LSD can screw you up physically and emotionally, beyond the bad trips you might experience. it's bad for you. e is bad for you. coke is bad for you. shrooms are bad for you. if you think otherwise, you're kidding yourself. know the risk, educate yourself before you make that decision. if you don't, you're being juvenile and you'll hurt yourself or someone around you. after you learn everything you can, make a decision and be smart about it. it's your body and your mind and you only get one of each, so bad decisions don't get you a 'do over'. take a look at the thread from a few days ago about a person deciding whether or not to do e for the first time with friends at exit. she went out there and learned everything she could and then decided based upon that knowledge. sorry if this is preachy, but just don't make these decisions until you are ready. too many people worship their drugs on this board and that isn't healthy. no kind of worship is.
  10. regardless of your experiences, the truth is that no one really knows what doing ecstasy does to you. there not been sufficient studies on humans (the FDA generally won't allow it) to determine what the long term effects are. the tests on rats at high dosages have indicated that nerve/brain damage results. everyone's body chemistry is different, so exposure even to something that is seeming innocuous, like toothpaste, could, for certain people, cause a really bad reaction. plus, some people's bodies might not be able to generate more seratonin or repair damage at the same rate as others. also, sometimes certain drugs trigger other things, other reactions, which is why ecstasy is used in therapy. so, it could cause damage even at low dosages, or it could cause other triggered reactions. it might be that it is worth the risk to you, but you shouldn't ignore the risk or pretend that it's not there. ------------------ wait, who's supposed to be an adult?
  11. all that being said, if you are going to use, be sure you test!!! buy a testing kit and use it always.
  12. hey, i used to live in d.c. and what no one here has mentioned is that there are many reasons to live in d.c. that have nothing to do with the club scene. d.c. is a very culturally rich area, has tons to offer for a city of this size. live jazz, rock, world music; so many museums and art exhibits; live theatre; musicals; orchestral music; opera; art; a very active, young and international population; very aware, very smart. good restaurants (not nearly as good as new york, but good nonetheless). many interesting neighborhoods. the cost of living is substantially lower than new york. it has great access to the major cities on the east coast with fairly inexpensive airfare and direct flights overseas. the fact is that the club scene is not as vibrant as nyc, but there is a club scene that can keep you occupied and when you are really in need of a good fix, twilo et al are a short trip away. if you make your decision to move based just on clubs, that could be one of the worst decisions you ever made in your life. d.c. is a great city. ------------------
  13. if you would take a moment to read your post i hope that you will see just how wrong it is and on how many levels it is wrong. bouncers are not security and they are not prison guards. they are there to bounce when things get out of hand, that's what is supposed to happen. they are not peace officers, they're not supposed to be there to affirmatively eliminate trouble before it occurs. unfortunately that's not how many of them view their jobs. it is not their world, it's MY world and OUR rules (who the hell would delegate rulemaking to a bouncer, would you vote for that??!!). rough places, please. it's freakin' polly esthers, the gap of the club world. when trouble happens, they do occasionally have to deal with some drunk a-holes, but someone taking off their shirt is not trouble and is no reason to attack. that's not how most of these monkeys view their jobs, though. they are so amped on creatine, andro, 'roids, etc. that they don't think well and they see everything as two choices, stand around and look tough or attack. if they actually took any time to try to be diplomatic when necessary they wouldn't have to deal with as much shite. the fact is, though, they do enjoy taking out their aggressions and sexual frustrations by beating on drunk/horked clientele trying to have a good time. if you think for one second that i'm not going to do something so that a freaking BOUNCER won't notice me, then you live in a sad world. bouncers are supposed to be a solution, not a problem. and let's face it, most hells' angels would do a much better job. those guys really are tough; they'd have a good laugh at polly esthers and i really don't think they'd get so undone at some guy taking off his shirt. obviously i could go on and on, but it wouldn't do any good. it's MY world. ------------------ [This message has been edited by juniorla (edited 01-13-2001).]
