  1. My favorite type of club music is old-fashioned, abrasive, pure techno (not trance or house). When and where is best to hear this type of music in NYC? In Europe, there are quite a few small, intimate clubs which specialise in this type of music. (My favorite is Mazzo in Amsterdam, if anyone cares. The End in London is also pretty damn great.) The crowd is always great at these places because only people who are really into the music tend to turn up. Are there any similar places in NYC? Thanks, T
  2. Could someone please give me some details regarding the door policy at Philly's Club Fluid? I'm heading there with my old friend, and I'm a bit concerned about whether he'll be admitted. We are both 21 with valid ID's. I dress London fashion (different from Philly fashion but still fashionable) and I almost never have a problem getting into places. My friend is a great guy but is severely challenged when it comes to dressing and personal appearance. I've gotten him into European clubs several times, but it's always a challenge. Anyone familiar with Fluid, please let me know how much of a challenge we are going to encounter there. Thanks.
  3. If anyone is interested, I'll be hanging out at Fluid with an old buddy on the next few Wednesday and Saturday nights. We are going to be strictly lounging/chilling, so if anyone will be there or wants to meet us, let me know. BuccaFm, I regret missing your post about lounging in Old City on Dec. 15. But if you wouldn't mind showing a newbie around the Old City scene on some other night, I'd really appreciate it. e-mail at CollapsingEgo@yahoo.com
  4. I'll be there on the 12th at Envy. Hopefully many others from this board will also make it. I am still completely unfamiliar with the scene here in Philly, so could someone please tell me if Envy is a bar, lounge, or club and whether I'll have any problem getting in on the 12th. I am 21, will be coming alone, and will be dressed fashionably for London (but maybe not for Philly, I don't know). E-mail me at CollapsingEgo@yahoo.com. Thanks.
  5. Thanks much for welcoming me (the poster of the original message in this thread) back to my old hometown through offering to including me in your meetup. I look forward to it enthusiastically. I'll definitely plan to join the meetup, as long as I've recovered by then from the stresses of jetlag, adjusting to a new city, and adjusting to a new job--all of which are right now pretty overwelming. To answer BuccaFm's question, I am living in the Greater Northeast in a big old empty house with a very very old lady. It's seems like a nice enough place to live, once I get used to it. My buddy is coming to visit me over Christmas, and we are looking to go to a club with a laid-back, lounge atmosphere--some place where we can just relax and which isn't a meat-market. From what I can gather from this board, Fluid or Silk City sound like good places. Any thoughts/suggestions? Anyway, I look forward to meeting y'all and to recovering my sanity sometime very soon. Till then, T
  6. After several years away (in places like London) from my native city of brother love (Philly), I've just moved back. The problem is that I'm a big tech-house clubber and the only people I know in Philly are relatives and some very old friends who aren't "clubbing types." Where might I go to meet other Philly clubbers? Of course, clubs would naturally be the best places to meet other clubbers, but I doubt that I can get in as a single, unless Philly clubs are very different from what I'm accustomed to. I haven't clubbed for around 4 months and I really miss it, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, T

I'm a big tech-house clubber, but I basically know no one in Philly except relatives and some very old friends who are not "clubbing types." Where would you suggest I go to meet other clubbers? Of course, the best place would be clubs, but I doubt that I can get into Philly clubs as a single, unless their door policies are different than what I'm accustomed to. I'd appreciate any suggestions, as I've been away from clubs for about five months now and am really missing it. Are there any clubs in Philly that play old-school techno (not trance, house)? I like trance and house, but nothing does it for me like classic tech. What are the best clubs for innovative/experimental house? Thanks, M
