Andy, is Gatecrasher ever coming back to LL or is the party toast? I've checked out GC's site and they have residencies in Columbus Ohio but they don't mention anything about New York... Is the party toast?

Didn't Israel recently send a missile from a US-given Apache helicopter into a Palestinian office building? If there was equality in armaments, I doubt that would have happened. I think UN fact finders might disagree with him, though. As for the US's attitude towards subjugated people- it has not always been gentle, so it's probably not a good basis for comparison. Look, I know you feel passionately about the issue, but you have to understand that other people don't have the same biases and background and that their perspectives are not less valid because they do not jibe with your own. I'm glad that someone stuck up for Palestine. It's crazy to judge the entire region by the celebration of about five to eight people. Here are some responses to an earlier post attacking midiman. Sure enough, atrocities occur on both sides but you're living in a fantasy world if you think Israel is a benevolent state that merely 'responds' to attacks. Also, I think terrorist attacks against Israelis are loathsome, but Israel uses advanced US armaments against people throwing bottles and rocks. It seems like every time there's bloodshed, 9 palestinians die to every one Israeli. After it sounds like World Fridays seriously undersold Scot Project, I don't think you'll have to worry about massive crowds that will shut you down. This doesn't seem like a great way to promote a new party that under-achieved in its first try...

I was there for a few events and security was intense. I even saw a couple of guys asked to take their shoes off. It's 180 degrees different from limelight.

wait, OAKENFOLD is spinning in the teeny tiny chapel lounge? the guy that people tells me gets paid $20k per show will be in a side room? are you sure about this?

it was looking like a dark dark august with GC at LL cancelled and then mekka going kaput- this is definitely cool. roxy's a lot roomier than LL and doesn't have the same problems with the city. the only downside i can see is that security at roxy is pretty aggressive. i've seen them make harmless looking club kids take their shoes and socks off. while i know the club's just trying to protect itself, it's that kind of gestapo exit-style security that really wrecks the vibe. sigh, i'll miss how quickly the line went at LL with just the metal detector.

hey candy, what kind of help do you guys need? is it mostly working at the door or doing something inside? does it involve heavy lifting? i'm pretty lazy but it might be nice to help out.

actually, it's impossible right now. i called ticketmaster today and they are NOT accepting refunds for mekka because the promoters haven't bothered to tell them that the show's been cancelled/postponed for one year/whatever euphemism you want to use. i realize the guys at mekka worked very hard and that things sometimes don't work out not because of a lack of effort, but the very least mekka could do is get people their money back. when are they going to get things worked out with ticketmaster? ticketmaster is STILL selling tix for the cancelled mekka shows.

That's the worst clubbing news i've hard all day. Thanks for the info, tho, Andy. it's nice to get a straight answer. but do you know about that part where they wrote that GC has been replaced? you wrote that they'll be back in sept, but i just wanted to make sure...

i was actually thinking it'd be great if GC had the funds to do that. buy up twilo's space and make the best damn club for electronic music in the US. i'd heard a rumor that GC wanted to get PVD for one of their NY parties at LL. but does anyone (ie STAR) know what's going on next saturday?

I know GC is fickle and you can never tell whether they're on or off until about a week before the show, but someone sent me this disturbing THING below... I called LL and someone there said they 'think' GC is still on. LL also put GC on their calendar for 8/4, altho there's no mention of anything on GC's calendar. Can someone please tell me what's going on? No offense to the guys throwing this super summer jam, but it'll suck if they're not coming. and what does new residents replacing Gatecrasher mean? does that mean GC's not coming back?
