  1. I know for a fact that JP was paid 20K for the night, although some of that fee may be reimbursed since he was two hours late. The promoters are negotiating to make his appearances a monthly, or bi-monthly, event, although I doubt that's going to be a reality.
  2. Was it the song that came right after "As the Rush Comes" by Motorcycle? I was feelin' that, too.
  3. Angelo Venuto is a singer in a wedding band named the Caleps. Now he has a deal for a full-length album/CD with Nervous Records. Someone told me Jonathan played his cover of "Ti Amo" at SF last weekend. "L'Italiano" was consistently beating songs by artists like Madonna and Pink on KTU's nightly countdown. Am I in BizarroWorld or what? Since when did remakes-of-outdated-Italian-music-currently-played-primarily-at-weddings become the rage?
  4. DJ Serg did the dance mix of Toto Cutugno's "L'italiano" that's become an anthem for all of the Bronx/Westchester guidos and guidettes. He also did several freestyle remakes, including "Because of You" by the Covergirls and "Without You" by George Lamond.

  6. Al B Rich did a mix of Pink's "Just like a Pill." Don't know of any mixes of Avril's "Complicated." Anyone?
  7. Let's Get it On/Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye Turn Out the Lights - Teddy Pendergrass Gotta Get You Home Tonight - Eugene Wilde Love & Happiness/Let's Stay Together - Al Green I Want to Be Your Man - Roger Rock Me Tonight - Freddy Jackson
  8. You're looking for "Just the Way You Are" by Milky. Full Intention and Liquid People each did mixes.
  9. "Turn the lights down down down down..." Both mixes are ridiculous. Mike & Peter have some sick tracks lined up for En-Soul, so definitely keep an eye out.
  10. Wanted to go, but had to spin. What did you guys/gals think?
  11. I think it will be very difficult for Mr. Grant to ever find a Friday night party to sustain any momentum at SF. Clubgoers identify Jonathan Peters as the heart and soul of that room, and they feel that no other party will match the vibe created there on a Saturday night. Not to mention the fact that Fridays are usually 18+, which generally isolates clubbers 21 and over, many of whom would rather mix with an older crowd. This is not to insult any of the DJs who have played on Fridays. I'm sure they've done a fine job. It's just that most people feel that SF isn't SF without Jonathan. But that's JMHO.
  12. Let's Get it On - Marvin Gaye
  13. "Somebody's Girl" by Jay Z and R Kelly. It's on their "Best of Both Worlds" CD.
  14. Since it's June 1, and summer appears to officially be here, I thought I would post my current ten faves. In no particular order: The Sound of Goodbye - Perpetuous Dreamer (Robbie Rivera mix) Invincible - Rita (Chris the Greek mix) Soul Penetrating Beats - Richie Santana Adore - Mike Macaluso Psycho X Girlfriend - Eddie Amador Searching - Nicole McCloud (Dezrok mix) Feels Alright - Richard F fea. Simone Cooper It Just Won't Do - Tim Deluxe Walking in the Sky - DJ Encore fea. Engelina (Future Breeze mix) Free Your Mind - Celeda (Airmale mix)
  15. I wasn't there last Sunday, so I can't comment on how he played that night, but I think Skribs is an excellent DJ. He's as versatile as anyone in the biz, and he always plays to the crowd, no matter where he's spinning. And I know that he and Jason are extremely good friends, so I doubt that there was any ill will about how long his set ran. I also feel that Skribs is a great guy, one of the nicest DJs I've met, which is refreshing in this industry. I'm sure he's had some bad nights, like any other DJ, but I haven't heard any of them. I guess it's just a matter of taste. JMO.
  16. Denny's WKTU sets have been on fire lately. People bash him on these boards left and right, but all he does is move a few thousand heads every weekend at Tempts. At a time when lots of DJs never pick their heads up from the decks to see what the room is feeling, Denny is a true crowd-pleaser, and I respect that.
  17. I agree with you. I hear many people bash tracks that were once extremely popular in the clubs, simply because they made their way onto WKTU's playlist. Many DJs refuse to continue playing a song once it hits the radio, saying that it's become "cheesy" or "played out." I believe a good song is a good song, and while I understand that people may get tired of hearing that song over and over all day long (myself included), that doesn't diminish the quality of the music. Just because a Deborah Cox vocal might get tons of radio airplay, that suddenly doesn't make it a "cheesy" song. Just my opinion.
  18. I have a special place in my heart for the music of Jonathan's Friday residency back in the early days of SF. So in keeping with that spirit: Let the Sunshine In - Fifth Dimension (JP mix) Respect - Aretha Franklin (JP & KLM mix) Did it Again - Kylie Minogue (R & G dub) Your Love is Taking Me Over - Knightbreed Get Up Stand Up - Phunky Phantom (KLM mix) I Need You (Diva Grooves Vol. 3) - Anthony Acid Elevate - Destiny Angel 99 Red Balloons - Nena (Mike Ski mix) On My Own - Peach Union (KLM mix) Goddess of Love - SINYC X-cuse Me - Franklin Fuentes (JP mix) Reflect - Three n One Why Don't You Dance With Me - Future Breeze Life in Mono - Mono (JP mix) Work Bitch - A-Luv & Joe Lodi Sorry, I know the post asked for only ten classics, but I just couldn't stop myself.
  19. WKTU has already added Hex's mix of Angie Stone's "I Wish I Didn't Miss You" to its rotation. That was fast.
  20. Let Your Spirit - Latin Headhunters (Jim Heinz mix) - not as in love with "GTI" as everyone else seems to be, I think this track is much better Don't Let Me Get Me - Pink (Anthony Acid & Skribbles mix) - I agree with Tranza, can't get enough of this vocal Just Be Good to Me 2002 - Deborah Cox (Johnny Vicious mix) - I like this remake more than Razor's new "TJATS" mix, plus Johnny's been in the zone at Roxy
  21. Thanks to all of you that dropped me an e-mail this week. I'm looking forward to meeting you guys (and girls) tonight. Make sure to drop by the booth and say hello.
  22. Congrats fellas. One year is a long time in today's ever-changing nightclub atmosphere. I'm sure you guys will tear the roof off the place this Saturday. Sorry I can't make it up there. Good to see you're back at Exit next week. You're taking Paul with you, huh?
  23. Yes it is. Hello Lainie. How are you, my darling? Still beautiful? It has been too long since I've seen you. Hope you took good care of my friend Macaluso last week at Roxy.
  24. I would like to invite you to Premiere Nightclub in Stamford, CT, this Friday night. I'm the resident DJ on the main floor, and I'd like to see a few CP members grace the dancefloor this week. I'd be happy to try to accomodate as many of your requests as possible. There are three rooms which feature three different styles of music (house on the main floor, rap & reggae in the lounge, and disco & tribal in the VIP room). I know many of you head to the city on Fridays, but it's a nice alternative if you're planning on staying local, or a good warmup if you're heading to Manhattan in the later hours. If you're interested in some additional info, or if you would like to be placed on the guest list, drop me an e-mail.
