  1. I just hope that in my life time NCAA football will finally get it right. They took a step in the right direction by pairing #1 & #2 in a championship game. The BCS is a good idea they just need to tune it up a bit. The only fault I see is the automatic bids, not because my favorite team is an independent, but because a good team like Kansas St. (which ranked in the top eight in all three rankings) is not even playing any major bowl nevermind a BCS bowl. Like I stated if the BCS bowls where determined by the top eight ranked teams everything would be fine and fair.

  2. the truth is that the system will never change. The major conferences (ACC, SEC, PAC-10, etc..) control college football and as long as teams from their conference keep getting automatic bids they will keep getting money and the independents and smaller conferences will keep getting the shaft, with the exception of a few other teams like ND. Even Miami could get the shaft because the Big East is not a football powerhouse. Miami and Virginia Tech get into the BCS bowls on their own merit, not because they won their conference.

Oh so FSU deserved to get in. FSU sucked this year. I know, you know it, the whole fucking country knows it. I mentioned ND because they are my favorite team, but in total honesty Kansas St deserved the BCS bowl bid over FSU. Also as far as ND joining a conference, why should they. They have done fine all along as an Independent. The fact is the BCS sucks, not because my team didn't get in, but because a team like FSU did (just because they won their conference which sucked this year anyway). Next time take the time and effort to read my post before answering. I never once mentioned USC or Iowa, my complaint was about FSU and the fact that a team not even ranked in the top ten in any poll and with a 9-5 record was selected over teams with higher rankings and better records. College football is suffering because of the way bowl invites are selected. The only thing the BCs improved on was matching up #1 and #2 and that game still sucks because it is always a blow-out anyway. My perdiction, the National Championship has already been decided, Miami will have it wrapped up before the half.

although as far as basketball...i think most of the talent is riding the pine in the nba nowadays.. but thats a whole other conversation :laugh:

Agree. We can store that topic and pull it up for the NBA draft.

eh whutever .. i still love college football and you still hate the BCS. and i would be bitter too about losting $11.0M plus!:laugh:

I love college football as well, but I have to admit I only watch two bowl games the one ND is playing in and which ever one the #1 & #2 teams are in. Where as college basketball I try to catch as many games as possible. In the past few years I prefer to watch b-ball over football (college that is). I find March Madness to be much more exciting than the college bowls.

That every game counts is bullshit. For certain teams all you have to do is win your conference. A team could be 8-5 and still win there conference and make a BCS bowl. While another teams could be 10-1 not be in one of the big conferences and totally get shafted. It's as Spragga stated, the big conferences (SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac 10, etc..) will always get specials treatment which is why there should be a playoff system, if not that then the top 8 ranked teams should get the major bowl bids. I keep bringing up ND because they are my favorite team, but teams like Kansas St., Texas, Penn St, and Michigan all got screwed. Kansas St is ranked 6th in the AP and Coaches and ranked 8th in the BCS, but they don't get a major bid because FSU won the ACC (which in my opinion wasn't a strong conference this year anyway) that is just wrong.

I agree with 100%. Every other Div 1-AA sport has a playoff system, why can't football have it.

See, with USC coming to the Orange Bowl, everyone in their conference gets a piece of the $13 million - where as, if ND won the berth, they keep all the money. So in a way, it's fair.... but from a Wins Vs. Lose point of view, ND GOT SCREWED.

But screw it, the Canes are vying for the Nat'l Tile, that's all that matters....:D

I'll be the first to admit though, if one of my friends comes thru with tix for the Orange Bowl, I'm sooooo there! I went in 1997 and it was a total blast:eek:

    Lola:D

I'm not pissed that USC got in over ND, they deserve to be there. They are ranked higher and beat ND. I'm pissed over FSU getting a bid. Why bother having this complex ranking system to pick the best teams for the top 4 bowl games when you have automatic berths. FSU has barely any competition in the ACC, so chances are they will always win the ACC so that means they will always get an automatic bid which is bullshit. It should be the top 8 ranked teams go to the BCS bowls.

I know the reasons why FSU got the bid over ND, but it is still CRAP!!! ND is ranked 9th in the BCS rankings with FSU at 14. There should be no automatic berths in the BCS bowls it should go by ranking. I mean you have teams like Michigan and Penn St. as well who ranked better than FSU who didn't get a bid. The top 8 ranked teams should get the BSC bowl bids PERIOD!!! As far as marketing there really isn't a bigger draw than ND.

  10. Can someone tell me how the fuck does Florida St which is 9-4 and had a horrorable year get a BCS bid over Notre Dame who is 10-2, beat FSU and had an amazing year. That is complete and utter bullshit. That should be ND in the Sugar Bowl.

Hopefully, thats not the case. Regarding the "why the DC area question"...there could be a couple of reasons...one, he lives around here, and so knows the area better, and can still pretend to live a normal life. Also, he gets a high from outsmarting the police, so he might not necessarily be looking for less police presence.

Whatever the reason, or whoever it is, regardless of whether its a single individual gone crazy, or a diversion, its still a terrorist attack. Just coz it might not be Al Queda does not mean its not terrorism.

I agree with you that who ever it is is still a terrorist (al Queda or not). As far as the theory my friend had, I highly doubt it. that's just pure speculation on his part. The person(s) who is doing this clearly knows the area inside and out. In actuality know really knows what the fuck is going on. Last night during the press conference the police officer (forgot his name) stated that he was pretty sure that they where not using bloodhounds and them a few minutes later the cameraman catches a shot of a dog with his handler combing the area. The authorities aren't realing much information.

I think it might be more than one person. It seems that every eye witness account has the mysterious white/cream van speeding away immediately following the shot. For one person to set up, shoot, put the rifle away and then proceed to drive off seems highly unlikely. I could be wrong, but I just believe it's more than one person. Some I work with mentioned something, it could be way off. They said what if this is some terrorist cell commiting these crime to divert attention from a larger scale attack. You know to keep authorities busy tracking down the sniper while the rest of the cell carries on with something bigger. They made a good point in asking why would the shooter choose the DC area why not somewhere a little more rural where there would be less of a police presence. I find it far fetched, but he did make me think.

  13. What I find puzzling is the fact that a few minutes after the shooting they created a several mile perimeter around the area and the sniper was able to get away. It is some scary shit. This person or persons obviously has a very detailed plan. He/she/they must have pre-determened spots as well as mapped out escape routes. I just hope they catch that animal soon before anymore people have to go through this ordeal.

Sassa hope all is well with your mom.

I really haven't thought twice about it affecting me personally though. I just believe that when it's your time to go, you'll go, regardless of how.

Noticed your avatar. Have your checked out the message boards at the Burton site? Lots of input/answers from Burton employees, very cool. (Yeah, like I needed another message board to post on, nice to have one for my other "love" though  ).

I didn't even know they had a messageboard. Need to check it out.

  16. Who ever it is is not a terrorist like Al Queda, but is still a terrorist by the true definition of the word. Definetly has to be some crazed individual on the same note smart as hell too to have avoided capture specially when you consider the amount of federal and state law enforcement officers present in the area. I hope they catch the person(s) soon. i felt sick this morning when i woke up to find out that sixth person was shot and killed. To all the DC area people out there keep safe.

  17. Gore's eye is set on Novemeber 2004. He knows his chances are thin against people like Daschle and Lieberman who are still in the political arena and are the front runners for the Democratic canidate for the presidency. The fact is he has no shot in hell because, like you said, the Democratic party is going to distance themselves from him. His criticism of Homeland security is a joke. It was during the Clinton administration that Sudan wanted to hand us Bin Laden on a silver platter and they refused to take him. We wouldn't be in this fucking mess if Clinton would have taken his balls out of Lewinsky's mouth and put them to use. During his term we had the first attack on the WTC, we had the bombing of the two embassies in Africa, we had the bombing of the USS Cole. All where linked to Al Queda and that administration knew it. After the embassy attacks what did that administration do, they blew up two of Bin Laden's training camps, woopty fucking do. After the attack on the Cole what did they do? We should have marched into Afghanistan right after the embassy bombing. Also our government, I know that the Bush administration has shared responsiblity on this too) knew as far back as two years ago that terrorist where planning something big within our borders. Who was in the oval office two years ago, Clinton. If it wasn't for Clinton and Gore we would probably still have our skyline and 3,000 less people to mourn.

For you liberals out there I'm not going off on this tirade because I'm republican, the Bush administration, like I said, has shared responsibility as well. I just can't stand fucking Gore criticizing Bush when him and Bubba fucked things themselves.

But they did not look at him as a "joke". Like tony said, they aren't as anal and uptight about things as americans are, and they looked at his political record, rather than just his infidelity.

Overall, Bill Clinton did a good job for America. The economy went up, he improved relations abroad, and was a very intelligent guy.

You getting stoked yet for the up coming winter. I'm already starting to get my Annual Pre-winter Snowboard Fever (APSF). Thinking about going out to Colorado in January, def. Brekinridge and maybe A-Basin.
