Liquor stores are often a good bet, I've found. There's one at Connecticut and R. A couple of wine/beer places on 17th St. also. CVS may also be worth a shot? I've seen some boxes there. Good luck!

sounds straight up my alley for non-beer drinkers there are tons of places that offer bloody mary/mimosa/sometimes even screwdriver specials with brunch. if ya wanted to start under the guise of brunch or somethin - heehee...

they sell it in cylindrical canisters. i've seen it at fresh fields. it tastes yummy too. i'd imagine the others may have it, tho if you're feeling crappy you might want to call first rather than have to drag yourself all over creation in search of it. if you find it lemme know how it goes for you i swear, it's the miracle cure.

after 2 weeks of crazy work travel, i am back and would love to come out for a drink! i agree w/whoever suggested that NOT going to an irish place would prob be a better idea - celebrate the spirit of the holiday elsewhere, the pubs usually do get sick packed... but i'm down w/whatever. anyone??

i've heard him @ velvet a couple of times a loooong time ago. he does some nice tribal sorta pots-and-pans-y sounding stuff. but the gay house will be in effect, i'm sure as well. a while away but i've had lots of fun hearing him before!

tinybutterfli i am in a very similar situation! yet to come out and meet you but i totally sympathize - it's scary and it sucks but i am hoping the "when one door closes another one opens" thing is true i was offered another job w/my company but with a big ass paycut. no good. re: the clearance - wanted to share what an experienced friend just told me today. i asked about the same thing cuz lots of jobs out there require them and i am looking. she said they will tolerate the honesty on stuff shady mentioned, but but "experimentation" as a student (over a year ago was the figure) is one thing - more recent stuff may be another? not sure yet myself, just passing on what i've heard... good luck!! -jamie

i guess i'd just do what you feel is right, but just remember to respect whatever the buzz staff says if they are there. cooperate with whatever law enforcement has to say. and keep it peaceful and encourage anyone who's not to pipe the F down quick i guess. good luck!

i have a feeling that though velvet's not currently affected, it won't be long until it is. i've heard they are beginning/(possibly have begun as of last week but can't confirm??) searching at the door there too, and there will be heavier security there. i'm sure it's only a matter of time - the military thing was against nation the venue, not buzz the party specifically. like the closing of twilo, trax, etc - the people, the music, and the vibe will carry on. the party's just gonna move elsewhere. with hope, jamie

yes, back in the day indeed and yep, even made it a couple of times before twilo closed. but to see junior vasquez- ick. but the place and vibe were cool, despite junior yeah, you CP peeps sound like you have a good time, i'd love to come out and hang at some point. i don't have so many friends here who are into buzz, sadly. lots for velvet, but few who'll come with to buzz. i guess i could just get over it and go out on my own, but doesn't sound like so much fun to me. i'll keep lurking on the goings-on and maybe get brave and come out alone one time... did you have a good b-day celebration? hope so!!
