  2. This message goes out to all of you who've either supported us or even plan to support us @ our RedLight Nights party @ Purdy Lounge on Thursdays. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!! Because of you our party has been fabulous. Now as we enter our 6th month, Gabriel, Peter, and I know that we will continue on bringing the underground vibe to Miami. Of course we've had our ups and downs (which is to be expected), but overall, I'd say we've had a hell of a lot more ups. Within our first month we brought you the super-talented Dutch Dj, Matthew Dekay!!!!, FOR FREE!!!! As if that wasn't enough, we also gave you the infamous Austin Leeds too!!!!! We featured some amazing local talent thoughout our course. We celebrated our Christmas and New Years with pure unadulterated madness. And now, on the eve of our 6 month anniversary, I'd like to invite you all to come out this Thurs. Jan. 13 (scary number, is'nt it?) for a Thank You Party. This one is for you. It's your party. Once again, THX. And may this New Year bring you every blessing you deserve and more. (Sappy, ain't I?) Your friend, Dj Chris Calix. Sovereign Productions,LLC. bringing you... H1Radio.com Be part of the last UNDERGROUND movement in Miami...Thursday's is... RedlightNights@Purdy Lounge

  4. take it easy fellas.... I'm just a new skool. I don't know nothin' 'bout no clubbin' or about this board. What's house music anyways?
  5. well thank you George.... Looking forward to dropping some dirty grooves for you guys on the terrace along with that decks wizard Phankadelic. C-ya there!
  6. I loved it....had a wonderful time!!!! Thanks to AQUABOOTY!!! I was SO NICE seeing everyone again... I never get tired of hugging you guys. I'll need to start bringing my camera out again. @ Ramon!!!! I mean, Mr. Soprano. Dan, you'll have to give that avatar over to Ramon.
  7. NO offense intented michael. see I'm from TEXAS and I get that all the time. And I'm definately NOT country. When I was living there it seemed like I was the only House head dj/clubber for thousands of miles around. Literally. But sometimes a Howdy Y'all excapes from time to time. and that's Ok because though I'm not country my heart is still in TX. PEACE
  8. HOWDY MICHAEL! welcome to Miami and to CP. You found this forum just in time to make the right friends and connections you will need to make your WMC 2003 experience an amazing one. This is like a big family here and WMC is like the family reunion. May your life be filled with many a great clubnights.
  9. Since i rarely ever post....for this I must. Just wanted to say G'bye to a dear friend named LOLA. And many hellos to all the CP'ers. That's all.
  10. Where Groovejet left off, LOLA is picking up. I had the pleasure of checking it out this past Friday and can safely say that this WILL become mine and Barbie's new 'regular' hangout. The night was well put together. To start off, the venue is very laid back (for those of you who haven't been there), the pool tables give the place a bar-room feel. So next Friday I'll be hustling for sex..um ..no, I mean money. Aside from the overpowering bar situated right smack in the middle (felt at first as if we were at Bennigan's or Hooters) I felt a bit akward but then as the night progressed more people turned away from the bar towards the dance floor. Sound system gets a serious thumbs up as I had a hard time carrying on a conversation, though the closer you get to the pool tables on the other end the more you can 'chat' with that 'special someone'. heh heh. The residents, Fransisco and Chris are definately 'with it'. Pumping out some very serious tracks, although it did seem like it was too big a sound for such a small place. A sound that Crobar is perfect for. But that aside, their mixes were still very tight. I can tell they have a bright future ahead of them. Keep up the good work boys! As for the crowd....WOWZERS!!!! I seemed that there were 5 hot girls for every guy in there, something not seen in Miami that often. (but I am married so you didn't hear that from me.) Seriously though, where the hell did those girls come out from? As a matter of fact, I was leaving at 3 am and a taxiload of girls (at least 6 of them) looking like a fashoin spread from Vogue were just getting there. Alot of new fresh faces that are supporting the scene is a good thing in my opinion. I got a feeling that the raw energy was there and I could tell that that place with the right crowd is destined to take off. I mean, where in this town can you go and spend $5 measly bucks at the door and party your ass off? Ok, maybe ChuckyCheese, but this definately kicks CHucky's ass all over the place. The vibe is solid and I did see a few of the diehards getting down. Rumour has it that all the top notch DJ's are dying to spin in that place. hint, hint. So if you're looking for that place that feels like home this is it. I know I'll be kickin' off my shoes in that place from now on. Lookin' forward to seeing you all next week. Cheers!
  11. I've noticed recently that this has been a very controvertial subject causing much discord amongst many members lately. As a Dj and aspiring producer I've also struggled to understand the differenciation b/w all forms of electronic music. What makes House House, Trance Trance, Techno Techno, etc.etc. especially when "fusion" has become the trend. Well I've created a theory to ease this perplexing matter: The ROOT / BEAT THEORY is as follows: All electronic music has a 'Grandfather' or Genre. This is the root from which a particular sound derived. (In our case I'll only discuss dance music on a 4/4 scale). Some examples of Genres and it's direct ancestors are as follows: 1. HOUSE: Derived from Funk and RnB which gave rise to Disco and ultimately House. (IMPORTANT! It's beat is easy to define because it always incorporates the use of NATURAL DRUM SOUNDS i.e. kick drum, high hat, cymbals, claps, etc.) Even though these sounds are now reproduced with the help of computers they still sound like the real thing. 2. ELECTRO / TECHNO: Derived from the experimental fusion of computers and machines to create music. (Here the beat is strictly unanimous with the ARTIFICIALLY CREATED DRUM SOUNDS drawn straight from machines like the infamous 303's and 808's). *In the modern ClubWorld these 2 'Grandfathers' remain the pillars of underground dance music. *Now here's the kicker* every other style is a descendant of one of these two. Also known as Sub-Genres. Sub-Genres are wonderful because they feed from creative minds bent on fusion. **REMEMBER**there are two types of beats 'natural and 'artificial'. Most clubbers are nowadays familiar with a new type of sub-genre called TRANCE. Trance by definition is Techno because it's backbone is an artificial beat. Shocking isn't it? Especially since so many have trouble telling the difference between some modern House (a la Digweed) from Trance. Take the nasty Trance version of 'Castles in the Sky' ,rid it of it's artificial beat until only the Acapella and Chorus remain and then add the natural beat from 'Reach' by 'Lil Mo Yin Yang and now you've got TA DA!....HOUSE. Got the Idea? Good. It's all in the beat... Now just to complicate matters more.... House has taken on many new forms since it's creation. we now hear the terms 'progressive','tech','hard','lounge' used freely when describing House Music. And they are right. The last House word says it all. A House beat backbone with 'Techy' overlays (sounds like that Dominator track) is ultimately TECH-HOUSE. No matter what you lay over it's still true to it's kind. I love House so much because it can incorporate any kind of sample. From Jazz, to Rock, to Merengue, the House beat welcomes it all with open arms. It truly is the universal sound because it allows for fusion to occur randomly. The hard Techno sound does not. To prove my point, say you are spinning a Trance set and in the middle you decide to throw in some House track...you're done for. Now in the middle of your slammin' house set you go 'Trancy' no problemo. **House is universal** O.K., so then there's Drum N Bass...It's in a world of it's own because it's beat is totally unrecognizable. It could be House or Techno, you just wouldn't know. Therefore consider this a Genre not a Sub-Genre. As for Breaks, it's beat could be from either or and it's beat is recognizable only that it's 'Cut-up' making it the only sub-genre that can morph happily across the dividing line. Quite amazing if you ask me. So there you have it boy's and girl's, Calix's ROOT / BEAT THEORY. PEACE TO ALL>
  12. PLEASE!!!! The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree. Everyone has their ideas and beliefs as to what's what in electronic music but one thing is for sure..... SUB-GENRES STEM DIRECTLY FROM ONE ROOT GENRE. Think of it this way, techno's grandfather was Kraftwerk (a mid 70's German experiment involving the first use of machines and computers to create music). Carefully speaking, they were never called a techno group since there was nothing else to compare them to. In the early 80's Chicago's pubecsent house scene gave way to acid. A sound picked up by a very creative individual from Detroit who was directly influenced by Kraftwerk's ingenuity as well. His name was Juan Atkins. He is famous for fusing computer generated sounds (a la Kraftwerk) with more palatable dance grooves (a la Electrifying Mojo) thus giving birth to techno. Soon after, Atkins along with Richard Davis formed the band Cybotron ( the first TECHNO ever). Cybotron gave way to the britt techno sound of Adamski and Baby Ford. Techno in it's pure form was hard core. So... although everyone has opinions, remember that historical facts can be proven.

    Satoshi

I'm so torn!!! However, I promised Juan Mejia that I'd show at Crobar some time ago. It's his bday today. So, you see... we're really not going for Satoshi. I haven't been too happy with his production work lately either. It's got NO SOUL.
  14. Just wanted to say "HEY" to all the Cp'ers that I know and those that I don't. Me and BBFlux will be out for Satoshi....CYA!
