this week's extra special guest :

    MAD VIOLET aka sean sweeney.

the real original. a founding father of axis and spit

in a rare dj performance. you think you're old school?

this seasoned pro has been spinning close to 20 years!

short of steppin into a time machine, you're not going

to hear skill like this ANYWHERE else.

this weeks guest DJ needs no introduction, but you know i'm going to

give one anyway. dale lee has amassed quite the cult following around

these parts, and you may be asking why. is it his tantalizing

programming? is it his flawless mixing? is it REALLY a secret military

hypnosis experiment gone horribly awry? jeez, i hope it's not that

last one, but it WOULD explain all those black helicopters following me

around. help ease my paranoia by joining me at the bar.

  3. last weeks mardi gras version of full tilt friday was, in a word, insane.

thanks to all who came out to help us -literally- tear the place apart.

this week promises even more insanity with special guest opener dale

lee; said to have one of the most active charts in boston, dale is

relentless in finding the latest and greatest underground progressive

music for your listening and dancing pleasure. he'll be warming up

the crowd for the one and only tym ryan, so support the locals --

    show up early!

  4. what's full tilt fridays like?

"Shhh.... can you hear that??!! Yeah that's right.. it's the beat

of a different drum.. Feel the movement take over your body..

Experience the music lift you and make you TILT your head. Motion

yourself onto the dancefloor, make yourself feel the floor, TILT

your way towards the music." -- rascal_girl@hotmail.com (copyright,

all rights and wrongs reserved, or something like that, yeah sure,

that works. yep. thats the ticket.)

this friday the one and only dave skye (redlight, the phoenix landing)

warms up the tilt room for tym with what is sure to be a memorable

    and diverse set.

how 'bout some variety? graze freely from room to room until you find

your thang -- the underground room has static (the rinse, 4front)

busting out the breakbeats, the hip hop room has dj chaos and the

80s/pop room has some guy i don't know yet, but thats okay, he still

    spins killer funkadelics!

  5. wooO! i'm a huge bruins fan... what section didja sit in?

i'm lucky enough to have season tickets (best christmas gift EVER!!) in the balcony RIGHT behind the net -- section 309. best seats in the house, imo. so far i've only missed about 4 games and that was when i dislocated my kneecap!! i dont plan on missing anymore though. hehehe

np : the gate (baaahahaha, this movie is hilarious)

  6. tym ryan celebrates his new residancy at full tilt fridays grand

    opening, friday janurary 25th

lacking in the info department? here it is : the longtime boston

favorite returns to the decks showcasing international guests

monthly, and local guests weekly. this week tym opens for our

monthly guest ashley casselle (gatecrasher, bedrock, ashtrax, uk.)

ashley is touring the US in support of his recent masterfull mix,

response (automatic, uk) and there will be copies on hand to

distribute to you folks. i picked up this double disc set this

weekend -- it's got killer track selection (tracks from the likes

of filter tip, microtek, astral projection, graham camp, and cass

& slide) and the mixing is flawless -- no protools here!

there's going to be a special champagne reception from 10-11 so

    get there early!

as for the venue? tilt is sick! amazing sound system, plenty of

dancefloor space, plenty of couches to chill on, cyro in case it

gets too hot, killer lights, and the laser... OMG, it will blow

you away. tilt has a special back entrance so you can avoid the

lines out front and there is some limited free parking -- once that

runs out the parking is a scant 5 dollars. once inside, the other

rooms include a hip hop/rnb room (dj chaos), an 80s/new wave room,

and a breaks/dnb room so there are plenty of areas for you to get

    down.

    full tilt fridays

  7. friday december 28th

tym ryan @ the roxy/cat club

its been nearly a month since tym ryan has wowed boston clubgoers

with his deckterous skills and he's back for this one-time special

christmas/channukah/kwanza/yule/festivus treat. if you know anything

about tym, you know that his rabid following will bring an intense

atmosphere no matter where he is. this is going to be one killer way

to start off your new years weekend.

  8. manray on saturday has disco in front and 80s pop in back. thursdays (thier gay night) has hardhouse in front and 80s pop in back.

i used to go religiously on wednesdays (endziet in the front room spun some great stuff) but i'm not a big fan of the current dj in front -- mostly trance and ebm. never liked the back room much. fridays are much of the same *shrug* other than that, i went on saturdays once, i wasnt very impressed, but it's not really my scene so i guess i cant say. *shrugs again*

if you're going to be around dec 28th, theres tym ryan at the roxy. thats gunna be a fun time.

if you're ever looking for a rock type thing to do, you might wanna check out Rocks! at the paradise on saturdays. heres the info for that :

its time to be rocked like a hurricane one last time before 2002.

no need to bust out those tight jeans and that BIG HAIR, just come

down to rocks! dont like 80s hair bands and their fansluts?

WELL SHAME ON YOU! but thats ok, 'cause we've got more than that.

we've got the rock spanning all decades from the who to ac/dc to

the pixies to nin to nirvana to manson to green day to blink 182

to system of a down. yep, david james and mike gioscia have got

it all. soooo, watchoo waitin for willis?

rocks, saturdays at the paradise. 21 plus. only 5 smackeroos.

email the supahstah DJs themselves at rocksdice@yahoo.com for more

info, questions, answers, career development and placement services,

new years diet tips, and they just might be able to help you with

    that funky rash too.

hehe, uhh, anyhow, wherever you end up, have fun.

  9. this week in the front room we've got local dj fyfe

(winner of the klub beats dj contest y2k1, recordheadz.com)

spinning his funky and progressive tracks. following him

will be tym ryan, who has been making us boston househeads

move since we was in diapers! now THATS an achievement!

as always, his sets are broadcast live on wfnx (fnxradio.com)

in the mambo lounge, we've got catatonic throwing banging

house and dj eight spinning old school hip hop early. late,

mike gioscia throws out the hip hop, the 80s, and the kitchen

    sink.

the rinse at venu on wednesdays. residents + guests in front, dj drama with electro (WOO HOO!) in back http://therinse.com

elements at the pheonix landing on thursdays. residents + guests. these guys get better guests, imo, but the venue sucks ass. *shrug*

check br and/or bp for the schedules for both nights...

  11. this week is spin cycle's annual BurnOffAllThatDamnTurkeyAnd

    StuffingAndPumpkinPie-A-Thon. initiating the

festivities -- with thier usual tribal-progressive

madness -- will be boston's most promising young duo :

elder brothers? hailing from lakeville, ct and hingham, ma,

our two heroes first collaborated four years ago in the

boston area under their individual dj aliases, phat beetz and

herbal pudding. currently, the EB's are almost at the halfway

point of their four year sabbatical in the faraway land of

ohio, where they are rapidly converting hippies and

    indie-rockers into househeads and beatfreaks.

back room aural calisthenics provided by dj eight spinning

afterhours / boston) bringing you his deep progressive sound.

once he has warmed you up, everyone's favorite spin cycle

resident tym ryan lays out the tunage and it is all broadcast

live on fnxradio (fnxradio.com) from 12-2!

we're also having a dj krush cd release party. we've got

tons of his latest full length (zen) to give out along with

a couple of the japanese pressed LPs. all courtesy of RED

    INK.

  13. hey, thanks for the birthday wishes, guys :) and happy b-day to you too, nyis4meatheads. heh.

as for submitting demos, have your friend make a tape or CD and send it to the address i posted, or you could drop it off at karma on some friday night, if that is any easier. i'm there every week and i'm not too hard to find -- just look for the big fat guy with the mohawk. :D

np : axiom ambient - lost in the translation

  14. yo, 'no ufos' isnt all that hard to find, if you're just looking for the original track to spin out. it was rereleased on the waxtrax mixmaster series (jaun atikins, of course! hehe), but only the UK version, not the domestic. it is oop, but still quite easily had. i found my copy at newbury comics, of all places. (i've found more gold in newb's reduced vinyl section than i have anywhere else, belive it or not)

if you're looking for collectors purposes only, good luck :)

np : axiom ambient - lost in the translation

  15. this week at spin cycle i'm celebrating my 24th birthday (yeesh,

i'm getting OLD!), so be sure to buy me a drink... oh yeah,

there are other things going on there, like the recordheadz crew

spinning in the back room till 11:30, and local dj russell lewis

opening in the front with some kicking techno and some big

electronic sounds, but more importantly : its the perfect occasion

    to buy me a drink.

there will be 80s and alternative and funkyassnatch hiphop in the

back room after 11:30 -- even better is the strategically placed

bar where you could buy me a drink. the front room? yeah, there

are three bars which means you could buy me three times as many

drinks, right? oh you mean the tunes? yeah, spin cycle's trusty

resident dj tym ryan will be blasting out the tracks on blake's

  16. yeah, so i hear theres this crazy party going down at spin

cycle friday. i cant exactly tell ya all the details, cuz,

uhhh... well, if i did, i'd get impaled on a rusty flagpole,

but just take my word for it : its going to be groovalicious..

i heard something about this up and coming recordheadz dj,

catatonic, and his far out tech house and progressive tracks.

and theres this other guy, tym ryan? anyone heard of him?

yeah, apparantly he spins some of the most funkadelic choons

to be cut on those flattened lil pucks. i also heard his

sets have been broadcast live on fnx every friday for years.

    pretty crazy, eh?

there are also rumours about some finalists from the klub

beats dj mix off in the back room till 11:30. apparantly

tek will be matching his skills up against fyfe. i also

heard through the proverbial grapevine that the local legend

david james will come through with some of that crazy

80salternafunkdahop which is all the rage with the kiddies

    nowadays.

oooooh yeah! i also overheard a conversation about a bunch

of crazy clubkids in haloween costumes and something about

a real-life game of clue? tym ryan on the stage with a

technics 1200 to the back of the head??? naaaw, maybe that

rumour is just TOO far fetched to be true...

21 to drink the punch (8 bux).

and this shady guy in a trenchcoat, phatmike@isomorphic.net

care of' before the club this week.

EEP! tis some visitor tapping on my chamber door -- i

    think i've said too much!

  17. reminder -- dale lee opens for tym ryan tonight. expect to hear some fresh tribal progressive from him, and of course, tym's great blend of progressive house and techno.

also, the recordheadz crew will be spinning in the back room till 11:30, then after that, mike gioscia takes the decks for some funky 80s/90s/alternative/hip hop.

going to be a fun night all around!

get me names for the guestlist by 9pm @ phatmike@isomorphic.net :)

  18. first off, we'd like to thank tim collins for his service

in the back room over the past couple months. this past

friday was his last week at spin cycle, and he spun a

great set to leave us all jonesing for more. unfortunately

for us, he has moved to LA to pursue his dreams of

conquering the world. we wish him the best of luck in

this endevor. but fret not, my fellow spin cyclists, this

week THE BACK ROOM WILL BE OPEN. we've got a big surprise

for the mambo lounge which is sure to get your ass grooving.

we've got lots of new and interesting things happening at

spin cycle. among them is our open call to djs everywhere

to open up for tym. if you're an aspiring dj (or know

someone who is) be sure to get us a mix tape! you can

either hand one to me, to tym, or mail it to the address

listed below. so if you can spin funky and/or progressive

styles of house and techno, we want to hear from you!

this week we've got local favorite (and diehard SC regular),

dale lee to open for tym. dale found his unique progressive

style when he moved to colorado and went to clubs 6 nights a

week! while stationed in korea he perfected his dj skills

and while stationed in guam he held two weekly residancies.

his sound is best described as 'uk progressive with a dash

of tribal' and he always brings brand spankin new tracks

(just take a look at his chart --

http://www.djrhythms.com/cht/lee.htm) he has moved back to

the boston area and has started to build a name for himself

here in his home town. expect to hear a mad set with lots

of new stuff! following him will, of course, be everyone's

favorite spin cycle resident, tym ryan. :)

as if that isnt enough for one night, we're also having a

jiveelectro record release party. free schtuff by the likes

of groove armada, detroit grand pubahs, kimball collins and

    the new deal.

    =============================================================

    upcoming events :

OCT 12 -- we will be having a NEW ORDER listening party from

10-11 in the Mambo Lounge. this will be sponsored by RED

BULL. all kinds of goodies to be handed out. opening up

in the front room for tym, from bedford NH, is dj noel with

    his progressive techy sound.

    :beatnik:

  22. so i'm going to be in nyc this weekend and i'm looking for suggestions...

i'm looking for anything from progressive house (no cheeze, please! preferably something on the darker side, like lee burridge's style, or techy stuff like rockcliffe or even some techtrance like steve porter) to dnb to deep house to techno to psytrance to electro (the electro portion of the sinfest rawked last week at 113, btw!)

i figure i'll go see danny spin at some point (fridays at vinyl, right? or is it saturdays???), but other than that i'm not sure what to do now that twilo is no more! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

anywhere we go would have to be dress code free (or at least allow for sneeks and black pants. i need my sneeks to dance my ass off!) good music and a good vibe are a must!

also, if there are any promotors out there that could send me a couple comps, or hell even reduced, i'd be sure to return the favor if you are ever in boston. :)

also a quick plug : my friend's 'band' is playing downtime on sunday (which is why i'll be in the city for the weekend).. their name is GASR, and they'll be doing a live PA... they're like a cross between ebm/industrial stuff (like front242) and the distintive sound (hybrid, WOW, etc)... so they're kinda like agressive trancy stuff (half thier tracks are breakbeat, the other half are 4 on the floor) with vocals.... good stuff! :)

the rumour on the street is that they are no longer doing club nights. they're bringing it back to its roots -- a rock club.

imo, its far better as a rock club anyway... *shrug*
