  1. I think most boards tell you all you need to know. CP telsl you exactly where parties are going down for the week so its a good heads up. OR.. you can listen to the radio in town (97.5 and 98.5 are popular), they usually tell you the scoop on whats going on that night at the clubs. Also, if you want to preview the type of people that will be at the clubs, check out the photo section, browse through each venue listed and see which ones entice you the most lol.

You're right to a certain extent, but some are better than others, especially boards which cater to and are frequented by locals. For example, in Boston we have a few great clubbing boards that are dedicated to the local scene are very busy with locals. On a board like that, it's easy to browse the subjects and make up your mind on where to go. The Vegas boards I've been to have little to offer and I'm trying to dig deeper to find some GOOD Vegas boards.

I do appreciate all the replies. Thanks!

  2. Hey Guys-

I'm from Boston and alone in Vegas Sat & Sunday. I'm leaving Monday to tour Zion & Bryce to do some soul searching and thinking. I've never done anything alone like this but I think it will be good for my soul.

I digress... A couple of questions- I want to see Morillo on Sunday- what are the chances of getting in and how can I get presale tickets or get on a list? Also, what should I do on Saturday night? If I'm going clubbing Sunday, I'd probably rather go to a regular bar on Saturday. Where should I go, or, should I go to a club and which one?

    Thanks!

    BK

  3. Go to AVB. I've seen both of them so many times and I think Sasha has become so boring. I used to love him and 2 or 3 years ago I would have said Sasha, but him and his sets have taken a downturn. Armin on the other hand has really blown me away the past couple of years. He's playing harder music than he did in the past and he puts on a good show. You can tell he loves the music and the fans, whereas Sasha is just plain old boring to watch. Armin all the way.

  4. I left at about 7:45 and he was still doing encores.

The night started out really, really slow.. The first DJ was so boring - I guess he just wasn't prepared to deal with the situation that was thrust upon him.

When Armin finally came on at 3:45, he really brought the place to life. He played alot of prog and trance and as the night went on, the music got harder and harder. The tunes were so unbelievably good.. By 5:30 it was quite comfortable to dance as the place thinned out.

Armin was better than I've ever seen him- He was so into the music and dancing and you could tell how much he loves it. You also could see that he was very tired, but being the professional he is, didn't let it affect his performance.

Spirit was really good- there were some problems with the bass that were corrected, and the venue itself was great. I say for the most part because there were plenty of freaks there. At the beginning of the night there was a huge group of asians towards the back bar that were so messed up, bumping K every five minutes, looking like zombies and crashing into everybody. Luckily a few of them were caught and kicked out, but it was enough to start the night on a sour note.

So, here are my ratings- music 9/10, sound system 8/10, crowd 6/10, and overall experience 8/10.

  5. I went to Louisville last year and it kinda sucked. Downtown is terrible- you have to go to an area called Bardstown where all the bars and clubs are. There are some decent bars, but all the clubs play is hip hop. There's a lot of cowboy bars and line dancing and tough guys.

  6. I agree that there were some really annoying people, but the music was great!

Can anybody ID that crazy song at the very end of his set? I can't even descibe it except that it was very hard and ...crazy. I believe it was the second to last song.

  7. I haven't been in two years, but I used to really enjoy going on Saturdays, so a few of us decided it might be fun to check out our old stomping grounds...

Bad idea. The place was so empty- upstairs was mostly closed, the stage was never opened, and the room was just plain empty. The music totally sucked- I know it's never been about the music, but the playlist was just plain awful.

What has happened? Is Adilson's following that big that they pack Avalon now? I think the Roxy is just such a great venue and can be a really good club. What's their problem? Are the managers/promoters just plain bad at what they do? They need to put some serious thought and effort into how they do the night.

Anyways- this is just my rant. I remember how much fun it used to be and now it is a sad place to go.

  8. I know, another stupid dressing question...

Will it be more dressy than usual because it is New Years? or will it be t-shirts and sneakers? I'm coming from Boston, and I've never done a NY new years, so I don't know what to really expect. Will it be like when PVD plays the Roxy as far as dress goes?

  9. I'm going Aug 14-24 and staying in Don Toni in Playa d'en Bossa. My flight was approx $950, but It took alot of work to find.

Playa d'en Bossa is a great place to stay.

    Things not to miss;

we love sundays @ space. go during the day, leave, and come back @ night. They'll re-admit you once.

DC10- Wicked. A twisted Monday morning you'll never forget.

Manumission- Privilege is unbelievable. It's more like a circus than a club, but it is worth checking out. quite an experience.

Amnesia- Cream Thursday- PVD or Tiesto every other Thursday.

I'm going alone this year- my friends backed out. Anyone else going mid-august?
