  1. hey all, long time. i need your help! my old landlord in DC thinks i owe them over $3600, and things are getting ugly. does anyone know any good DC tenant lawyers i could contact, and has anyone been in this situation before? basic story - i moved out of my apt in may 2003, they apparently never got my letter to vacate which i guess got lost in the mail along w/ my keys that i sent back to them (my property mgmt company was not located in my building, so it's not like i could just walk downstairs and hand them this stuff). now it's been handled by a creditor company who is about to put this on my credit report. it's SO fucking unfair!!!! help!!!!

I was looking for 4 a cool lounge (like Blue Room) w/good musak to start off the nite & then something like Buzz or 5 for later (or any good clubs w/good DJ's/atmosphere).

We have it soo good here in DC comparing to other cities. I was in Houston at the begining of the yr & I was able to find a couple of cool lounges but the clubs (at least the ones I was told to go to) were pretty cheesy

    youre welcome louis:)

i'd suggest for friday night, starting off at velvet hookah and then going to seven, since they're in the same general vicinity (deep ellum). maybe sat night, start off at umlaut and then go to blue, which are both downtown. i dunno if you're gonna like blue though, it's kinda like platinum.

i wouldnt suggest area 51...it's a lot like glow.

of course there are the country clubs too which are always a laff:) i forget the name of the big one though, it's off of i-75.

but you cant go wrong hitting up random bars in deep ellum. my favorite one has closed down though:( umm...i think thats all my suggestions. good luck!

btw if you go to blue, it was a dress code.

  3. shit you're f-ing kdding me. i'm finally getting out of dallas this weekend and you're coming down!!! dammit.

    oh well...a few suggestions:

-blue. cheesy superclub, a "scene", sometimes has decent music though. www.bluevip.com. not sure who's there this weekend. digweed is playing here jan 2, deep dish is coming thansgiving i think.

-ruby room at red jacket. when my friends spin there, it's got a great, blue room-like vibe. red jacket is connected to it, a bigger club which you can check out. www.thejacket.com

-umlaut. very nice little underground lounge feel, kinda like an upscale red. sorry not sure who's there this weekend. would be a good place to start a night off at.

-seven. closest thing to 5 in dallas, imo. friday nights are jay winborn, kinda a weak nietzsche but some decent prog. www.sevendallas.com

there's more but these are prolly your best bets.

Proton Call For Submissions!! Mix Comp Coming!

    Calling all producers!

I hope that this email finds you well. As many of you know, Proton Radio has been slowly gaining notoriety since its inception 2.5 years ago. All the hard work that has been put in is really starting to catch people’s attention now. Proton’s goal from the beginning was to help lesser known artists get their name out there. I think we have done this so far and now we have even crossed over into the mid-tier level of DJ and producer being a common thing in our programming lineup. Proton is a place where new artists and DJs can showcase their talents for the entire world. We have really become known as a place people can go to find out what is going on in dance music today.

As the station grows and listenership increases, costs of operating Proton Radio rise. We appreciate all of the support that each of you has given Proton. We also hope that the support that the station has given artists and DJs has been helpful as well as the countless hours of listening pleasure. The time has come to take the next step.

We have decided to put together a mixed compilation. Since Proton operates on a very small budget, we are asking artists/producers who are looking for exposure and want to help out to donate tracks for the compilation. This is strictly on a voluntary basis. Our idea is to have a compilation that is made up of all unsigned tracks. As you all know, there are countless tracks out there that will never get signed for one reason or another. A lot of these tracks are as good as or even better than the tracks that are getting signed to major labels. Hopefully having a CD of all unsigned tunes and of such high quality will draw a lot of attention. This will be good for the producers who made the tracks on the compilation as well as for Proton in general. The CDs will be sold through the Proton Radio website and selected outlets. 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Proton Radio for its continued growth and expansion. As a new/up and coming or established artist you will get some great exposure and at the same time will be helping the Proton movement. The first installment will be mixed by Proton DJ, Lance Cashion. Lance is a DJ and up and coming producer from Texas who hosts ‘The Sound’ on Proton. Further installments will all be mixed by Proton DJs.

As we gather the unsigned tracks for the compilation, we are not limiting ourselves to only one genre. Feel free to submit anything you wish for consideration. The first step is to gather all the unsigned tracks. We are working on the legalities of using your track while still letting the artist retain his/her rights. If your track is chosen for the compilation, we will work with you on all the details. In the end, it is your music. With the music industry in such disarray at the present, Proton Radio wants to inject something positive and different that is a symbol of what Proton has been about since day one: promoting up and coming talent and making people realize just how much amazing talent there is out there!

If you are interested submitting a track for consideration, please send it to the address below. Alternatively you can upload a high quality MP3 (256k preferred) of the track to the ftp below. The ftp will be an upload only account, so there is no need to worry about the tracks getting downloaded by anyone. Please include contact details with your submissions. We will try to get in touch with you as soon as possible. We hope to have the compilation out a few weeks before WMC 2004. Further emails will follow this one to update our progress.

Thanks for your time and for supporting Proton Radio!

    All the best,

    Sam

    Submissions Procedure:

We prefer receiving your work on CD rather than MP3. Copies of your track on CD are much easier for us to master and the quality is a lot better. Basically, the sampling rate on a CD right out of the studio is much better than an MP3 copy. When submitting tracks, please include a short biography of yourself. If your work gets used, we would like to know more about you. Finally, please include your contact information(i.e. email/phone number/address). This will allow us to get in touch with you. The information to submit your work is listed below. Don’t hesitate to email me if you have any questions at all!

can u blame them though? they gotta make money somehow. it'd be such a shame to see release close down like so many others. long live release! :D

Damn, I almost had Echomen - Cure on my CD, but I couldn't fit it in. Good thing, too, for the sake of variety.

love that echomen - cure tune. got such a great techy edgy sound to it.
