  1. hate to say it a lot of clubs are shady. doing a guest spot for a DJ who has a name and following usually gets paid in advance for just the sort of situation. I know of some DJs who have to get thier payment 5 or more business days in advance to the night of the party. this way they can get paid and have the check clear before they get screwed and spin for free or get cancelled. Also shouldnt it be in the contract that if the event is cancelled for any reason within like 72 hours of the party. than you can collect your money or easily go to court to collect the money.
  2. TKC i would say is probably one of the best DJs I have heard in a long time. I saw him and peter bailey at shelbourne with DT and VC. I think TKC was right up there with DT and VC. I also saw him open for VC at crobar and he always spins right on top of his game. Definatly a DJ to show support for.
  3. I agree NYC isn't what it use to be. not even a shell of what it once was. It is definatly NOT ahead of most places musically. We may get a lot of the top talent at one or two local places but thats about it. Look at all the upcoming top DJs being from Europe or other parts of the US. Ny'ers simple do not support thier own. First NYC isnt a house music town anymore. Most people just want to go out and party and hear hip hop unless its a big name coming to town. It use to be NY'ers led the pack for originality. People always wanted to find the new hot spot before it became hot. Now a place has to be the hot spot before it opens. If a DJ wants to make it the only way he can do it is either spin other places except the hometown NY or hook up with some big promoter who is pulling tons of people and pays DJs next to nothing. People mostly seem to be followers. They just want to follow the crowd to have a good time. They want to see and be seen. They would rather be able to say hello to a bunch of people they really don't know than to be the ones talk talk about this hot new place they found. I have friends who spin and are very good. Thier own friends make excuses and don't go see them usually because some top name DJ is in town. They would rather bail on thier own friends than miss out on "the night". As far as NY being muscially ahead of places. 5 - 10% of the people who go out are really into the music. The rest go why? because everyone else is. So any local DJ who wants to make it. Spin somewhere else besides NY.
  4. has anyone been there and can give a review of the place?

  11. depends on if you are doing it alone or with people and depends on the people you have with you. The question is do you know enough people who already go out on wed nights to that type of venue that would go. My opinion is if you have a venue that fits 450 people you better know 700 - 900 people that will come there 2 times a month to keep it full. FYI i am spinning this weekend at a club that holds i think about 800 people. they have about 10 - 12 promoters working this place. i know Deko holds around the same more or less and besides a following they also have a large amount of promoters.

  25. this was very amusing. First off JP sucks. Thats like bragging you had a heroin addict over for dinner. no one cares. he's so over. It's funny how people in Jersey always have to argue on how to go out and have a good time. If you like deko go there if you like S9 go there. just go out with your freinds and have a good time. If you are concerned about meeting women (or men). It only takes one so who cares if the club is FULL of good looking girls or not. Unless you have no game and need to hit on everyone in the club hoping someone is drunk enough to hook up with you. Maybe some of the people who go to S9 don't care or even know who Morillo, Sanchez or any other global DJ are. Maybe they just go out with some friends for fun. Maybe Deko a smaller place would rather charge more and bring in high talent to a smaller crowd who looks to see a night like they offer. I dont get the arguing over to very different places. it seems to me S9 is more a club with a DJ that spins music and offers a good time, Typical Jersey nothing wrong with that. Deko looks to excel in the night club industry scene by bringing in big names. So whats the big deal. Only comment is that Deko definatly works hard to bring new things and creat a good atmosphere. They have for a long time. No one can deny that. i will agree it sucks waiting for a drink so long. But that is in any place. a bartender can only do so much at a time. its friday, go out have an amazing weekend and enjoy yourself !!!!! its who you are with not where you are at.
