  1. From Global Underground emerges a mystery: a liquid funk collec tion of future and retro grooves that celebrates the hours between late and early...this is the 'Afterhours'. Featuring: Depeche Mode, Terranova, Jimi Tenor, Sparklehorse, Human League, Meat Katie, Stereonova... Afterhours consists of three cd's: FuckedUpAndWasted: the perfect disk to start the afterparty. PartyAfterTheParty: more party...still twisted. BeautifulKindOfMadness: a cd-rom narrative of music and imagery to suit the mood that is afterhours. Most things can be preceded with a time, place or number. Afterhours is a contradiction. It is not the place we went to, it’s simply the place where we end up. It is perpetual. Constant. The beginning. A means to an end. www.globalunderground.co.uk/afterhours

  11. what are you talking about...hmm...what about the licensing of the records...the payment to the artist...the packaging...and all of the other expenses that go into puting an album together....you may feel entitled to steal music because of some self-richeous, ill-conceived notion that you have a right to do so but it is simply WRONG and it is killing our scene....the indie labels and shops are dropping like flys already...
  12. lol...thansk for the comliment. But, seriously Im not promoting...I just feel strongly about this...and James Lavelle truly is an integral party of dance music history..... thanks for the offer but I BUY NOT BURN.
  13. as my original post said: this is not a set for trainspotting and/or music elitism, it's simply a great DJs interpretation of great music. Why not celebrate the scene and all that it has to offer to those that might not be as lucky as you to have access the most "up-front" 12"s on the market. at the end of the day, the reality is that (and if you read any of the interviews that James has given on the album you will see this) James is not one of those "oh this track was on so and sos comp. so I can't use it" or "Im only going to put on the most obscure records out there". He is about showcasing what he was feeling at the moment and what he might present on any given night at Fabric and I think that he does a mighty fine job.
  14. I respect your opinion but I disagree. Nothing that is fluid and contstantly changing can "tank"...it simply grows and changes. By your statements, its clear that GU was able to introduce lots of interesting music to your life and from that introduction you were able to move forward and seek out alot of that music on your own. So maybe now you dont need that introduction but there are kids out there that do. So, instead of shitting on a label and a series that was obviously important to you why not celebrate its growth and the role that it had in your musical direction. In short, it doesn't get more "top notch" than James Lavelle. He is an integral part of dance music history, an amazing man and a great talent. Not to mention that if most of the guys whos names are more familiar (inc. Emerson/Deluxe) heard someone slagging James off they would be the first to come back and tell you that he is amazingly talented and that this disc is a huge, positive step forward for GU.
  15. BAPE stands for Bathing Ape which is a brilliant, long-standing, underground clothing and accessory line from Japan (www.BAPE.com) which is run by a very close friend of James. I think that its great that he chose to wear gear from a company run by his mates. As for the content of the album...its simply a brilliantly put together piece of work that visits a variety of genres and sub-genres of electronic dance music. James' musical background is grounded in hip-hop so there are alot of break-beat elements. Historically, dance music has been about taking risks and not paying attention to categorization and that is an attitude that I think we need to get back to. Let's stop fracturing the scene with genrefication and just listen, dance and enjoy.
