  1. Ironic that you would say you aren't looking for fast food and a place you would take your mate AND THEN mention Red Lobster. Try Dos Caminos. In the 30s on Park I believe. Great food, sangria and get the tabelside prepared guacomole.
  2. Hey Jaysea (or anyone that is interested), have you read Hedonism by Tony Fletcher? It is fictionalized account of the scene in the early 90s based around a club called Hedonism which is run by a guy named The Count. Very interesting and probably even more so to people in the scene at that time because they could probably tell the real names and places and stories of what is being told. Interested if anyone read it and opinions.
  3. Are they open? Just seeing stff for Thursday and next week with Deep Dish, etc. G'list anyone?
  4. Staying near the meadowlands and hoping to do more than just sit in my hotel room. Any suggestions?
  5. They are suspending the state tax, just not the county tax in Nassau.
  6. Heading there next friday for 5 days. Anyone ever been? Suggestions on what to do/see/etc? Thanks.
  7. Are they going to make me sleepy if I'm out or will it be a buzzy, floaty feeling?
  8. Just got 30 1mg pills. Need some advice on the recreational attributes. Dosage? Length of affects? Is it something to do when going out or would I be too knocked out? Any info would be helpful. Thanks
  9. Anyone know where I can get one or parts of one?
  10. The Asian Shoulder Shake Dance rules!!!
  11. No rumors, ideas, thoughts of any kind? Anything based on when people are planning to go? Really, nothing? Wasn't looking for anything definite that I would hold you to... I know GBH is part of the Sat party and always enjoyed them at CF.
  12. What night does everyone think will be better, Fri or Sat?
  13. ...to the Saturday party at Opaline? Looks pretty crazy. Tried to go last Sat but they said it was guestlist only (although, it looked like there were 5 guestlists). Still want to try it. Anyone have info? Thanks.
  14. My girl told me that when she went a few days after the blackout the lady told her she had been halfway through a brazilian with a customers when the lights went out and couldn't finish! Now that is some funny shit!
  15. Arc does not serve alcohol just as a heads up. Centro-Fly (if it hasn't closed for renovations) is good on Fri or Sat. You can try places like Float or Discoteque also (heard they have been packed lately). Webster Hall may have a lot of girls but it is an ugly crowd. Shelter Saturday gets you a more of an underground party feel.
  16. Note your fault. Freakin paranoid clubnyc can't have any other groups name on their site. Dumbasses. Found it anyway. Thanks.
  17. Please! Are you trying to say Hom is the place to be now in the Hamptons? Why? Because they gave you a job? Your skinny ass needs to stop!

  19. Cool stuff Check Me Out
  20. It's Portugeese there, not Spanish. And anyway, I will say it again, THE COMMUNICATION ISSUE GOT TO BE A BIT ANNOYING! I WASN"T SAYING I DIDN'T EXPECT OR OTHERWISE, BUT IF ONE IS GOING ON VACATION, YOU MAY NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH THAT! Not sure how sheltered factors in. If it is worldly to fly 12 hours, spend $1700 on a vacation and see kids sleeping on the street, count me out. I am aware of world issues and have no problem facing or addressing them, it just isn't something I expect to see (nor really want to) when I am going to a place that is always described as a paradise. In addition, if one is looking for a nice, clean fun place to party with nice clean beaches or accomodations and see beautiful people, the 3 places I mentioned blow Rio away. I do agree, that it is much easier to vacation at these other places and Rio is a once in a lifetime trip, just not worth it in my eyes. I am quite glad I went though. Girls should NOT stay in Copacabana ever! The balmeitonriotravel.com site is great and we even met Bobby (the guy who runs the site and is a new yorker who lives in Rio) when we were there. He was very cool and helpful. The prices and overall cost you are talking about look about right. You may want to check into apartments also. Many people rent those out for the week and they are sometimes better deals and better maintained. You also have more freedom and room to hang with a big group. Be careful what tours you book but as mentioned, they can be awesome. We went paragliding and it was beautiful and well worth it. Other tours to see the rain forests and natural gardens looked real cool.
  21. I would imagine for most people considering a trip to Rio during Carnaval, it would be to party. If you want to see the rain forests, etc, go at another time when you are not paying at least 3 times the amount for accomodations and you are not stumbling over people in the streets. I didn't EXPECT anyone to speak English. I merely stated that the communciation problem became a bit taxing. Ordering lunch was an ordeal that I would prefer not to have to expend energy on when on vacation. In addition, the 10-12 hour flight is not all that pleasant and in my opinion not worth it, when South Beach and/or New Orleans are even Las Vegas are available for someone looking for a party vacation.
