  2. Lurker.jpg

Lurker does not participate in normal forum discourse, but he's out there...watching, reading every message. Generally, he is quite harmless. In fact, his silence usually reflects a natural reticence rather than any sinister motives. He is content to let the other people haul the conversational freight and, if a fight breaks out he will observe quietly. Occasionally, however, some mysterious impulse drives him to de-lurk and attack. Other Warriors regard his unexpected assault as an ambush, and invariably turn on him savagely. But Lurker seldom sticks around to fight it out, rather, after a brief exchange, he slips away, never to be heard from again.

    Isabel churns west-northwestward

    9/15/2003 12:34 P.M.

Buzz Bernard, Sr. Meteorologist, The Weather Channel

Isabel, still an extremely dangerous category 4 hurricane, continues to track inexorably toward the U. S. The hurricane, currently centered about 500 miles east of Nassau, Bahamas, and looking a bit more raggedy in satellite imagery than it did yesterday, is churning toward the WNW but is forecast to shift to a more northwesterly course today. It remains likely that Isabel, as a major hurricane (winds in excess of 110 mph) and possibly still as a category 4 monster, will thunder ashore sometime Thursday along the Mid-Atlantic coast. No location from North Carolina to Long Island is off the hook. The exact location of Isabel's landfall may be difficult to predict due to the extreme angle at which the storm could be approaching the coast, especially if it stays out to sea north of Cape Hatteras. A very tiny change in the hurricane's direction of movement could shift its landfall by a hundred miles or more. Although Isabel is not a particularly large hurricane, its wind field will expand dramatically as it nears the U. S. and encounters a building high pressure area over the Northeast. Thus, even though the strongest winds should occur someplace along the Mid-Atlantic coast (wherever Isabel comes ashore), gales eventually could pound beaches as far north as Maine. In the meantime, the first harbingers of Isabel's fury will be building surf and rip currents along the Eastern Seaboard. No high surf warnings have yet been issued, but it shouldn't be long before some are. Today, large swells and dangerous surf are battering portions of the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands and the Greater and Lesser Antilles.

  9. Hey there everyone!

Well I'm finally all hooked up out here in CA. The apt. is more or less set and I've got an internet connection (finally). Been lurking around this morning and it seems like things are going well in DC

The road trip out here was great. Stopped in Indianapolis, Kansas City -- then spent a few days in Colorado, on to Salt Lake City and finally here. Crazy scenery after St. Louis (well, except for Kansas, which was boring as all hell) ;).

Cali is good so far. The weather is otherworldly, it's freakin' Groundhog Day each morning when I open up the blinds -- sunny, cloudless and warm each and every day. :shaky: Pretty bizarre to me but I think I can get used to it. Today is when I'm officially diving into the job hunt. It's kinda miserable out here for techies (front page story every day about how awful the unemployment rates are) but we'll see how it is for the stuff I'll be looking for. I've been poking around downtown San Jose for clubs and such (meh) and hopefully I'll be headed into S.F. soon for some more investigation. ;)

I hope everyone is doing well -- I miss DC and you guys tons! PM me if you're interested in my new contact info. and let me know if you want me to post any pics of the road trip/apt.

    Talk to you soon!

    cookie :D

  10. Baby you're all that I want

When you're lying here in my arms

I'm finding it hard to believe

    We're in heaven

    We're in heaven

Oh, thinkin' about our younger years

There was only you and me

We were young and wild and free

Now nothing can take you away from me

We've been down that road before

    That's over now

You keep me comin' back for more

Baby you're all that I want

When you're lying here in my arms

I'm finding it hard to believe

    We're in heaven

And lovin' is all that I need

And I'm finally there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see,

    We're in heaven

    We're in heaven

Now nothing can change what you mean to me

    There's a lot that I could say

    But just hold me now

Cause our love will light the way

Baby you're all that I want

When you're lying here in my arms

I'm finding it hard to believe

    We're in heaven

And lovin' is all that I need

And I'm finally there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see,

    We're in heaven

Now our dreams are comin' true

Through the good times and the bad

I'll be standing there by you

    We're in heaven

And your loving is all that I need

When I'm finally there in your heart

It isn't too hard to see

    We're in heaven

Oh oh oh oh oh oh

    We're in Heaven.
