  1. Thanks for the replies... I guess I'll tell the girls not to bring bags with them. Still gonna go though, sounds like a good time.
  2. I'm supposed to go down to Rehab on friday with friends of mine. What's the word on that place? I haven't been there in awhile and I haven't heard if there are any decent parties.
  3. I live in CT and school in NY, and def can tell the difference... you get tons of locals and college crowds in any of the big CT areas, Hartford, New Haven, SoNo, Stamford... And like someone else said, apples and oranges. CT is a good time, not worth traveling to necessarily, but inexpensive with relatively attractive single peeps. There are waves though... Hartford was banging years back with Bar With No Name, Velvet, System, Insomnia (now Vibe). Hartford died and now there are parties that are good off and on. Just 2 cents though, Alchemy in New Haven on College and Crown street (www.alchemynightclub.com) has a sick thursday night party. Seriously looks like something out of a girls-gone-wild video. it's a big space, gets crowded with tons of college girls then adds liquor and contests... that's a place to check out.
  4. Ok, so this is my one and only comment on this thread... I jokingly started a thread about why CT doesn't have a message board and Jersey does, and how CT should have one. I only wanted to get some rises out of peeps. CT in general is not the most jumping place (damn blue laws). But the responses in mine and this thread just sound ignorant. "Jersey is better just because"... "We're from Jersey, so it is better"... "Waaa, Waaa"... Just the idea of a good solid party scene somewhere else, that may or may not be better than the shore, makes the average person responding in favor of Jersey laugh like an idiot... It almost seems like their little minds can't fathom there being any place other than the Jersey shore (there's no place like jersey, there's no place like jersey). Just my interpretation... I'm just a dude in CT, so my opinion is inferior... My thought is, that for every person who says "Yay Jersey shore!!" there is at least one that may say "Yay Hamptons!!"... They just don't read CP messageboards... There's my 2 cents... keep 'em or reply with feeble wit:puke: . -RA-
  5. sorry, grey area housedog... I neglect to think of Vinyl as friday or Factory as Saturday and more like Vinyl Saturday (morning) and Factory Sunday (morning)... go figure
  6. It's all about a party that promotes itself. Obviously there is initial promoting (word of mouth works best... makes people curious... people could talk forever about crobar because there has been no concrete news except that it is happenning some time this year), but think of long standing parties that are successful because of their reputation. Right now, despite my not being a big fan of SF, Factory Sundays have been goin' on for quite a while now and is very successful... no real promotions. GBH was the same, don't know how it runs recently. But Twilo (RIP) didn't need promotions, and can you imagine flyers all over the street saying STUDIO 54... A friday party at Crobar could be perfect because that's a night that hasn't had a party with a real vibe in a long time and Crobar is a name that represents everything a club should be... (at least in Miami)...
  7. Spare the "CT sucks/people from CT suck" cracks, but how many people actually live or go to school in CT? Do you guys actually go out in CT? Where?
  8. From my experiences at Crobar, Miami, it seems management has a good formula for avoiding commercialism. The Miami venue itself is a beautiful space that is used efficiently and I believe New York will be similar in theory. They will not put in someone like Draper, nor push mainstream beats. When in Miami, over 6 or so hours at the club, retarded as I was at the time, I only recognized three to six songs that might be considered part of regular airplay or clubplay. Everything else was new, or classic and the DJ was on point. The door should be run the same as in South Beach. The people who go there know where they are going and dress the part. They let in some generics, but they love the glam and unique. I've been there when the club was less crowded than the street outside... They won't sacrifice the vibe. So if New York management mirrors or is similar to Miami's Crobar, it won't be commercial.
  9. Hmmm... physical threats on an online message board... I'm scared. You can piss on CT... I guess it's a start for getting us back for pumping all our sewage to Jersey. Do the Jersey-two-step off one of those lovely boardwalks and shut the fuck up... you bore me timetraveler69...
  10. yeah, I'm a preppy jerk off... Keep talking though, maybe you can make yourselves feel better about living in Jersey.
  11. First of all, I never exactly said CT was better than Jersey, just that nothing really stands out about NJ except for the fact that it is the dumpsite for all the left over Staten Island trash (metaphorically and literally). Oh and prettyricky, you just named four trashy places, two of which closed a long time ago, one that is basically a Pizza and Brew with an underground feel and a dance floor, and another that is a concert venue. If someone ever told you that they were nice bars or good clubs, sorry, you were misinformed. The loft was nice though, i think I saw you out there once.
  12. I think we're talking a different Asylum... In New Haven, on crown st., Risk used to be Liquid, and before that cafe 1 and before that (long time ago) Asylum. I may be mistaken, it could have been located next door at the soon-to-be-open Myst, which was Impact recently and empty for quite a while before that. As far as Maa Bell's last gig, I don't think you'll have a problem at all, especially if you are with Bell. Just ask Bell to put you on a business list with Jimmy (head promoter). It's like saying he needs your help in the booth. It would also give you a chance to talk to Jimmy and the owner (if you get there earlier) about Priviledge. kaydup, the space underneath was rumored to be done over as a bunch of things. All of management had different ideas (a diner, banquet room, VIP dungeon, afterhours) but none ever materialized. No one ever took iniative. The promoters and some other staff have convinced the owner it will make him money and now... dun dun dun... afterhours... For the record, Alchemy has only been open for two years (anniversary party next thursday 1/23) so there have only been two NYE's... were you at one? I worked both. (Prior to alchemy, it was opened as Gecko's about a year prior) Clubgyrl, doh!... hehe, should have none SHU, I go to Manhattanville in Purchase
  13. I would normally let a post die if no one made any comments... but I know people are curious and wouldn't mind hearing something... Or maybe no one really cares to even talk about any idea of a new big club moving in until it's a reality... Well... look around again for something of substance on Crobar.
