  2. here you go this is the only action shot i have right now!
  3. Hey nothing wrong with self promotion! Girl gotta do what a girls gotta do!!!
  4. thanks ! so im not public enermy #1 today!!!! (lol)
  5. i think there is one posted on my promotional site http://www.djfriendlymusic.com or if you're ever in NYC on a Thursday come to Global 33 i spin there each week diane
  6. two sides of the same coin, i also buy ALOT of music - i would not download due to the fact that i am partners in a music label, being a DJ i have alot of various sounds and styles and i buy it all (mostly on vinyl) for personal reasons. I dont believe in sugarcoating anything in life, we need to make money as a label inorder to be able to sign new material - and develop new projects. If we ONLY cared about the sales - then what is the point we dont - we care about it all - one feeds the other........ !
  7. instead of having to go to Tower Records and paying $15 for Darude's new CD, why can't i just log on to your web site and buy it directly from you for $10? You can do this - you can log on my site and buy it from my merch store - http://www.hellagoodgear.com BUT we also like to have all bases loaded you know - we want to make sure we have maxium exposure on ALL our albums - so we try and hit everything - be in stores, online, media whatever and where ever - we try to do as much as possible in the budget we have available for that album. Diane (blue chip)
  8. You have me all wrong - first im being 100% honest when i say i care about sales - i do - this is a business we have to put ALOT of money into something to make it work - so the sales are very very important - BUT you also have to understand IF i did not think a project would work then i would not even waste my time TRYING not in todays market - so that being said - Darude (or whoever) is something i do believe in - as a producer i think he is very talented for the style he plays - its not something that blows me away - BUT i do feel its very very good. As a label we also believe in giving the artist all artistic rights - be in sound / artwork / direction etc etc. All we are doing day in day out is artist delevelopment - Music is my #1 love in life - i personally DJ (not Darude's sound) but Tech house - i have always had music in my life - so being involved in a label now - i understand what i love ./ like and believe in and i also understand what sells and works (for whatever reason it still works) and we have a mixture of the two. BUT we never lose sight of the goal - and the goal is to sell music / make music / the more you sell - the more you can make!!!!! D
  9. Thats ok you can say whatever you feel - it might not be your taste or style - but you cant knock something that works. being his label all we care about is sales - we feel his sound works and sells - so lets see!
  10. i have no idea - if you buy a CD within the first two weeks of release its usually slightly cheaper - as a sale price is given around $13.99 (ish) but for the most part a cd is around $16.00 give or take - its to do with the over all cost to get that Cd into the store.
  11. well if we cut out the "middle men" then the business would fall quicker than it is right now. The money lost to DL is alot higher than people think. We spend our money first on advance to get the album - which goes direct to the talent - then you have to pay to get the album mastered and manufactored - then its shipped to our distrubtion company - who then sells to the retail stores. What we pay for a CD is one price - we then get a set amount per unit from the distrubution company - who then sells to the store - who marks it up to there price. You also have to understand that we have to pay a retail program to get the album in the stores - they dont just take them you have to PAY to get them there. And it all mounts up, when you take the whole process into account. To do it on your level is fine - BUT wouldnt you like to have your production sold on a National level - and this is what costs the big bucks. Is downloading killing the industry no - but it does make our work somewhat harder - can we stop it no - maybe over time it can be decressed somewhat. Apple have started a great new way to collect some of the money lost to downloads with there 99c single sales. will this catch on? who knows - right now its a waiting game - we have to see what is going to happen. Music is my life and being involved on a business level has made me more aware of what actually goes into producing and releasing singles / albums / its a tough game. even outside the manufactoring costs you then have promotion, advertising, radio programes the list goes on and on! so as nice as your theory is - we still need all the players to make this clock keep ticking! Diane
